(Reuters) -TensorWave, a Las Vegas-based startup, announced on Wednesday that it has secured $100 million in the latest funding round, as it aims to capitalize on the rapidly expanding AI infrastructure market.
The company, however, did not disclose the valuation at which the funding was raised.
The Series A funding round was led by Magnetar and AMD Ventures along with participation from existing partners, including Maverick Silicon and Nexus Venture Partners, and new investor Prosperity7.
With the growing demand for AI computing resources, companies such as TensorWave are emerging as key players by offering the tools and infrastructure required to efficiently train AI models and optimize workloads.
"The funding comes at a time when the AI infrastructure market is experiencing unprecedented growth, with recent industry reports projecting the AI infrastructure market to exceed $400 billion by 2027", the company said.
With the latest fundraise, the startup plans to scale operations, expand its team and accelerate the deployment of AMD-powered GPU clusters tailored for AI model training.
"This $100M funding propels TensorWave's mission to democratize access to cutting-edge AI compute," said TensorWave CEO Darrick Horton.

(Reuters) -French defender Mamadou Sarr has joined Chelsea from Ligue 1 side Strasbourg on an eight-year contract, the Premier League club said on Monday. Qualcomm strengthens AI portfolio with US$2.4bil Alphawave deal
FILE PHOTO: A smartphone with a displayed Qualcomm logo is placed on a computer motherboard in this illustration taken March 6, 2023. REUTERS/Dado Ruvic/Illustration/File Photo U.S. chipmaker Qualcomm on Monday agreed to acquire British semiconductor company Alphawave for about $2.4 billion as part of efforts to strengthen its artificial intelligence technology. Alphawave shareholders will receive 183 pence per share, a nearly 96% premium to the price immediately before Qualcomm disclosed its interest in the company. The shares jumped 22% in early London trade to just below the offer price. U.S.-based firms have been snapping up British assets, taking advantage of a market that is plagued by comparatively weaker valuations and stunted growth. Alphawave, which designs and licenses semiconductor technology for data centers, networking and storage, had garnered takeover interest from Qualcomm and SoftBank-owned chip tech provider Arm in early April for its 'serdes' technology. The technology underpins the speed at which data is processed by chips - crucial for AI development - and serves as the foundation for Broadcom's and Marvell Technology's multibillion-dollar bespoke chip businesses. Arm walked away after initial discussions with Alphawave, Reuters exclusively reported in April citing sources. Qualcomm also tabled two alternative all-share offers to Alphawave's shareholders, after receiving multiple extensions from the UK's takeover panel to table a firm offer. The British company said it considers the terms of the cash offer to be fair and reasonable and intends to unanimously recommend it to its shareholders. Alphawave also completed the disposal of its stake in WiseWave, its joint venture with Chinese investment firm Wise Road Capital, to existing state shareholders on Monday. - Reuters

South Korea president calls for extra budget to be ready swiftly
SEOUL: South Korean President Lee Jae-myung (pic) urged officials on Monday (June 9) to swiftly draw up a supplementary budget plan aimed at supporting economic recovery and spurring consumption, his office said. Lee, who took office last week, has made economic recovery a priority, launching an emergency economy taskforce with government officials. The economy contracted in the first three months of the year as exports and consumption stalled amid fear over the impact of US tariffs, fanning expectations of interest rate cuts. If the extra budget is finalised under Lee, that would add to the country's earlier supplementary budget of 13.8 trillion won (US$9.7 billion) approved on May 1. During his election campaign, Lee had emphasised the need for an extra budget to provide short-term economic stimulus. At the taskforce meeting on Monday, he also asked for measures to stabilise prices, saying the increasing cost of living is causing "too much pain". "Prices are causing too much pain for the people, so please check the current situation and see if there are any possible measures and report them even before the next meeting," Lee said, referring to higher prices of instant noodles. Prices of chicken and eggs have risen since an outbreak of avian flu in Brazil, a vice finance minister told Lee during the meeting. The government has restricted chicken imports from avian flu-affected areas in Brazil. The left-leaning president is expected to pursue fiscal expansion policies, including increased cash subsidies and welfare, aimed at bolstering economic growth despite concerns over rising debt levels. - Reuters
