Man arrested in murder of Josephine Ray previously denied involvement in pensioner's death
A man who has protested his innocence in relation to the murder of pensioner Josephine 'Josie' Ray was re-arrested today in connection with her killing.
Hasan Ali Gori, who is in his 50s, was arrested by Gardaí in Limerick City.
Mr Ali Gori was taken to a garda station for questioning about the murder of the 89-year old.
Mr Ali Gori has been in a relationship with Ms Ray's daughter, Mary Ray. They were both previously arrested in connection with the death of Josephine Ray. Both have said they had no involvement in the murder.
It's understood that the pensioner was assaulted and strangled. Her body was found in bed at her home at St Joseph's Park, Nenagh, on August 4, 2024.

It recently emerged that Mr Ali Gori and Mary Ray have been living rough at rat-infested wetlands at Limerick City.
In an interview conducted at their makeshift homeless campsite last April, Mr Ali Gori and Ms Ray said they had no involvement in Josephine Ray's killing.
'I have nothing to do with this death, how is somebody accusing me of murder. I didn't do anything to anybody,' Mr Ali Gori said.
Mary Ray was also adamant she was not involved in her mother's murder: 'No I hadn't, no I hadn't, no, no, I had not, no, no.'
With rats scurrying around her, Ms Ray said: 'My mother loved me, she was mad about me, we lived together. It's very hard for me, I miss her terrible, so much.'
The couple were previously arrested on the day of her funeral, last September.
Mary Ray said she found her mother's lifeless body in bed but she said she initially thought her mother was asleep.
'I got an awful fright. Her glasses were off in the bed…I said, 'Mother, get up for your tea'.
'But she wasn't moving. I said, there's something wrong with her, she must be dead.'
Garda interactions with Josephine Ray at her home in the days before her death have been referred to Fiosru, the Garda Siochana Ombudsman, including a Garda response at her house following a report of a disturbance less than 24-hours prior to her death.
Josephine Ray was reportedly alive when Gardaí called to her home on August 3, during which a number of people were present at her home.
It is understood Gardaí had also been called to her home on several occasions during the months prior to her death in response to a number of different alleged complaints.
A statement released by Gardaí today said: 'A male in his 50s was arrested today in relation to this investigation. He is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
'Gardaí in Nenagh continue to investigate all the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman, whose body was discovered at a residence at St Joseph's Park, Nenagh, County Tipperary, on the afternoon of Sunday, August 4, 2024.
'Investigations are ongoing.'

Gardaí launched a murder investigation after it was confirmed that Mr Walsh died from stab injuries in his Carrick-on-Suir home A teenager has been arrested by gardai investigating the murder of Ian Walsh in Co Tipperary. The adult male, aged in his late teens, was arrested this morning and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda Station in the Clare-Tipperary Division. 'Gardaí are continuing to investigate all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a man's body in Carrick-On-Suir, Co. Tipperary, on Monday, August 4,' a Garda spokesperson said this morning. Mr Walsh (49) was hailed as a kind-hearted man who ranked as one of Ireland's foremost rail enthusiasts and was always generously willing to share his expertise to promote Ireland's railway heritage. Hundreds attended the removal and funeral of the rail expert who was found stabbed in his Tipperary home over the August bank holiday weekend. Mr Walsh had lain in repose at Hennessy's funeral home in Johnstown, Waterford, on Monday evening. His funeral service then took place at the Island Crematorium in Ringaskiddy, Cork on Tuesday afternoon. The Carrick-on-Suir native was hailed for his kindness to neighbours, workmates and fellow rail enthusiasts. He ranked as one of Ireland's foremost experts on Ireland's railway network and heritage - and was generously willing to share his expertise with other rail enthusiasts, as well as tourism and heritage groups. Mr Walsh is survived by his mother, Breda, his brother Paul and Paul's partner, Rachel, as well as his extended family. He was predeceased by his father, Philip, and his grandparents. Gardaí launched a murder investigation after it was confirmed that Mr Walsh died from stab injuries in his Carrick-on-Suir home. His body was discovered in the early hours of August 4. Forensic evidence is now expected to prove crucial in the case. Gardaí upgraded their investigation into the death of Mr Walsh to a murder probe following the results of a post-mortem examination at University Hospital Waterford (UHW). The post-mortem examination was conducted at UHW by Deputy State Pathologist, Dr Yvonne McCarthy. "Preliminary results have been provided to the investigation team. These details are not being released for operational reasons. Following the post-mortem, An Garda Síochána has commenced a murder investigation," a garda spokesperson had earlier confirmed. He had worked as a signaller at Kent Station in Cork. Mr Walsh was a lifelong rail enthusiast and boasted numerous friends within Irish Rail and Irish railway societies. Friends hailed him as one of the most knowledgeable officials in respect of Ireland's rail heritage - and how to use the rail network for tour groups. Locals expressed shock at his death - and hailed him as someone who was known and respected in rail circles from Dublin to Cork and Waterford. He was also very involved in sports and was said locally to be a keen cyclist and walker, careful to maintain his own fitness. The Garda Technical Bureau conducted a full forensic examination of the property in a bid to garner clues as to the identity of the attacker. Door-to-door inquiries were conducted to determine the last known movements of Mr Walsh. Officers are also keen to determine if anyone heard or saw anything suspicious in the area over the previous 76 hours. Gardaí are also checking CCTV security camera footage from residential properties and businesses in the town and area to determine any movements to and from Cregg Road. Tributes have been paid to Mr Walsh by rail heritage and tourism groups. Iarnród Éireann said they were shocked at his death. "Ian was a well-known and popular colleague across the company, both in his working life in roles from catering to signalling, and for his passion for railway and transport tourism and heritage," a company spokesperson said. "Our thoughts are with his family, and his friends in the railway and beyond, at this difficult time." Táilte Tours said Mr Walsh had been of enormous support to them over the years - and had run several rail heritage tours of his own. "He had a wonderful knowledge of the Iarnród Éireann system and its people, and had also developed a passion for Bus Éireann operations, diligently recording the last runs on several rural routes in the south east as they disappeared, quickly becoming a friend to bus drivers in the Cork and Waterford areas."

Tributes paid to Donegal teenager who died tragically, as gardaí continue investigations
TRIBUTES HAVE BEEN paid to a teenager in Donegal, as gardaí continue to investigate the circumstances that led to his death. The boy was a third year pupil at the Abbey Vocational School in Donegal Town. Gardaí said they were called to an incident at a rural location in Inver where a male youth sustained serious injuries. The boy, who has now been named locally as Dylan Ward, was airlifted to Sligo University Hospital. However, he passed away yesterday. A Garda spokesperson said inquiries are ongoing. Meanwhile, the boy's school said it will open today and tomorrow following the tragic death. Advertisement The Abbey Vocational School posted on their social media channels that the school will open for pupils to come together. A spokesperson said: 'Our entire school community is saddened to learn of the passing of one of our highly valued third year students. 'Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family at this time.' The school is open until 2pm today for any students and staff who wish to visit. Dylan played for the U16s team at Four Masters GAA Club. In a Facebook post, the club described him as a 'great teammate with a fantastic attitude towards training and games'. 'He was an integral part of our All Ireland Feile shield winning team at the end of June this year, and he will be sorely missed by his fellow players and coaches alike.' Dylan also played for Donegal FC, which extended its condolences to Dylan's mum and dad, Fiona and Daniel, his sister Leah, and his extended family. Dylan attended primary school in Killymard.
