Meta ‘Hypernova' AR Smart Glasses Could Be Cheaper Than We Thought

Meta is reportedly launching its first premium smart AR glasses codenamed Hypernova in the next few weeks. The biggest change with these glasses are expected to be displays built into them rather than offering camera-based use like the Meta Ray Ban glasses. The new Meta smart glasses were widely expected to launch for over $1000 (Rs 87,500 approx) but the new report from Bloomberg says otherwise and also gives a more clear launch timeline for the new display-centric wearable from the company. The report says Meta is happy to offset its business profits to bring the new smart glasses at around $800 (Rs 65,400 approx) which is still quite high for the segment, but much less than the earlier reported $1,000 price tag. These new glasses will mimic the Google Glass model rather than go up against the full version of headsets. It will have a small display on the right lens where you can receive notifications, alerts and even view apps through the interface built for the device. However, instead of pairing it with your phone, Meta will have another gadget that straps onto the wrist and transmits the data to the eye-based wearable for gesture controls and more. The report claims Meta will announce this new device some time in September which is just a few weeks from now, and for all you know, it might want to steal Apple's iPhone 17 thunder by making this big reveal around the same time. Meta's Ray Ban smart glasses now have a big privacy issue because of the recent changes made by Meta in its rules. These new policies have a direct impact on the smart glasses consumers, and how they interact using these wearables for voice and camera. The new rules are clearly highlighted by Meta in a detailed post which came into effect from late April 2025. It can access the recordings of all the Ray Ban smart glasses users by default. IIM-Ahmedabad Raises The Bar For 2026-28 Admissions

General & EWS candidates now need 95 percentile overall and 85 percentile in each section, making the selection process tougher Every CAT aspirant dreams of securing admission to the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIM-A), the country's top management institute. Consistently ranked No. 1 in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), IIM-Ahmedabad has long been considered the pinnacle of management education in India. However, gaining admission to IIMA has never been easy, and the institute has now made its selection process for the PGP (MBA) 2026-28 batch even stricter. According to the latest notification, the minimum cut-offs for CAT 2025 have been raised. For General and EWS category candidates, the overall cut-off has been set at the 95th percentile, with a mandatory sectional cut-off of the 85th percentile in VARC, DILR, and QA. The cut-offs have also been increased across other reserved categories. NC-OBC candidates must score at least 90 overall and 80 in each section; SC candidates 85 overall and 75 in sections; ST candidates 75 overall and 65 in sections. For PwD candidates, cut-offs are aligned with their respective categories. The selection process at IIM Ahmedabad involves multiple stages: Shortlisted candidates are evaluated on a composite score, where 65% weightage is given to the normalised CAT score and 35% to the Application Rating (AR). AR considers Class 10, Class 12, and graduation performance, along with work experience and gender diversity. Graduation Cut-off Candidates are also required to meet the 80th percentile cut-off in their respective academic categories, ensuring academic diversity.
