CM reviews preparations for Vizag Yoga Day event
Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Monday called upon everyone in the state to work towards making the International Yoga Day, which will be held in Vizag on June 21, a grand success.
During a high-level preparedness meeting in Visakhapatnam on Monday, the Chief Minister urged for complete public coordination to ensure the IYD's success. "It will be a household event, and I call upon people to contribute to the success of the event, which is scheduled in Visakhapatnam following the directions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi," the Chief Minister stated. The celebrations in Visakhapatnam will be not only the biggest but also the greatest event ever hosted, he added.
Recalling the Prime Minister's wish to hold the IYD event in Andhra Pradesh, Naidu said that he had agreed to host it in Visakhapatnam, a city close to his heart. He maintained that while the Prime Minister aims for 1 lakh locations nationwide, Andhra Pradesh alone will see participation from over 1 lakh centres.
Expressing satisfaction with the district administration's arrangements, the Chief Minister said that two crore people across the state were expected to participate. He emphasized the need for a hassle-free conduct of the IYD celebrations and sought input from ministers, public representatives, and officials to ensure its grand success.
With five lakh people expected to participate at the single venue in Visakhapatnam, the Chief Minister expressed confidence that the IYD event would secure a place in the Guinness World Records.
Earlier, accompanied by ministers, district officials, and concerned authorities, the Chief Minister inspected the arrangements made by the district administration, security measures, and other amenities. He has inspected the main venue at RK Beach, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to participate. District Collector MN Harendhira Prasad and Special Chief Secretary (Health, Medical and Family Welfare) MT Krishna Babu briefed the Chief Minister on various measures and accommodation plans for participants. Naidu instructed officials to ensure the event's smooth conduct and directed them to carry out a mock Yoga Day on June 20, incorporating all safety measures.
Naidu also held a party cadre meeting at PM Palem, reiterating his call for concerted efforts to make the IYD celebrations a grand affair.

The world leaders attending the G7 Summit include US President Donald Trump, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen is also attending. The special invitees to the summit include Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Brazilian President Lula da Silva and Presidents of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, South Korea Lee Jae-myung, South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelenskyy and UAE's Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. "They are spewing venom against India": Damdami Taksal condemns pro-Khalistani protests in Canada ahead of G7 Summit
Amritsar (Punjab) [India], June 17 (ANI): Damdami Taksal Spokesperson, Professor Sarchand Singh Khyala has strongly condemned the anti-India protests by Khalistani groups, ahead of the G7 summit in Canada, stating that the pro-Khalistani people are 'spewing venom against India'. Khyala praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for helping the Sikh community, emphasising that the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) gave him the Qaumi Seva Award for his contributions. Speaking to ANI on Monday, Sarchand Singh Khyala said, 'In the video, I can see that innocent children aged between 5-7 years old disrespecting the pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The pro-Khalistani people are spewing venom against India. They are spreading hatred by brainwashing children, and I strongly condemn this.' 'Sikhs are known for their brotherly harmony and for helping people. PM Modi has done a lot for our Sikh community. Whatever has not been done in the last 70 years, PM Modi has done it. This is the reason PM Modi has been awarded the Qaumi Seva Award by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) for his contributions to the Sikh community,' he added. BR Ambedkar Study Circle Office Bearer, Satinder Singh, also condemned the anti-India protests by Khalistani groups, calling it harmful for both Punjab and Canada. He praised Prime Minister Modi for honouring Sikh history through Veer Bal Diwas and opening the Kartarpur Sahib corridor. 'This incident is condemnable. The Prime Minister declared Veer Bal Diwas on December 26th to commemorate the sacrifice of two sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Sikh Guru. He opened the Kartarpur Sahib corridor for Sikhs. He has a lot of love for Punjab. There are some extremist forces in Canada who are not able to do anything in India, and they want to show their children, (in protest), thinking that this will increase their visibility,' he said. 'This is something which is fatal for Punjab as well as fatal for that country, and to teach this thing to children is neither our soul nor our duty because we have sacrificed and that too for the sake of our country,' Singh said. Brampton [Canada], June 17 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi's arrival in Canada for the G7 Summit has been warmly welcomed by members of the Indo-Canadian community, who hope the visit will mark a turning point in strained India-Canada relations. Sumit Singh, a Brampton-based Indo-Canadian businessman and immigration consultant, expressed optimism about the visit. 'I wholeheartedly welcome Prime Minister Modi to Canada,' he said. 'I appreciate Prime Minister Mark Carney's invitation to Mr. Modi. This is a positive step and I hope it leads to the restoration of normalcy in India-Canada relations.' After arriving in Canada's Calgary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (local time) said that he will meet various leaders at the G7 Summit and share his thoughts on important global issues. PM Modi said he would also emphasise the priorities of the Global South. This visit is part of his three-nation official tour, which began with Cyprus and will conclude with Croatia. In a post on X, PM Modi stated, 'Landed in Calgary, Canada, to take part in the G7 Summit. Will be meeting various leaders at the Summit and sharing my thoughts on important global issues.
