Irish pubs get big business on St. Patty's Day
That's because it's St. Patrick Day on Monday, the busiest day of the year for many Irish pubs and restaurants.

'St. Patrick's Day is four times busier than our normal Friday fish fry,' said Wade Conard who is the owner of McGeorge's Pub in De Pere. 'Friday fish fry is the biggest day of the week normally.'
The St. Patrick's Day party at McGeorge's began at 6 a.m. Monday and continued throughout the day. The bar packed with green-wearing revelers embracing the spirit of the holiday.

Conard said that the holiday falling on a Monday isn't a problem.
'It's a great day to have it because if it's a Friday then I get burned because we're already busy with Friday fish fries,' he said. 'I need it on an off day.'
The Monday holiday didn't seem to bother revelers at McGeorge's either.
'It's St. Patrick's Day, there's no day of the week on St. Patrick's Day,' he said. 'There's only St. Patrick's Day. Being together and being happy and the Irish do that very well.'

Former Wisconsin wide receiver named team captain for a College Football Playoff contender
Former Wisconsin Badgers wide receiver Will Pauling was named one of Notre Dame's team captains for the 2025 football season on Monday. Pauling, who transferred from Wisconsin to Notre Dame this winter, is one of six members of the Fighting Irish to earn team captain duties this fall. The veteran is joined by offensive lineman Aamil Wagner, safety Adon Shuler, offensive lineman Billy Schrauth, defensive lineman Donovan Hinish and linebacker Drayk Bowen. Pauling is positioned to suit up in a talented wide receiver room alongside Jordan Faison, Jaden Greathouse, Malachi Fields and K.K. Smith this fall. Specifically, Pauling is expected to lace up as one of Notre Dame's primary slot receivers when the team begins its season against Miami (FL) on Aug. 31. Pauling appears to have impressed head coach Marcus Freeman during offseason workouts, which could have prompted the Irish to turn to him as one of the program's team captains. Outside of his intensity and leadership, Pauling captained Wisconsin's wide receiver room from 2023-24, totaling 116 receptions for 1,244 yards and nine touchdowns across 23 games. He led the organization with 74 receptions, 837 yards and six scores in Luke Fickell's first full season at the helm in 2023. The rising senior also played under Fickell at Cincinnati before transferring to Wisconsin before the 2023 season, making Notre Dame his third college stop. Following Pauling's transfer, the Badgers' wide receiver room will be led by Vinny Anthony, Trech Kekahuna and Ohio State transfer Jayden Ballard. Eugene Hilton, Chris Brooks Jr., Joseph Griffin Jr. and Kyan Berry-Johnson will likely contribute as depth pass-catchers. Pauling's on-field contributions will play a major role in Notre Dame's pursuit of a second straight title game appearance. Joel Klatt releases his CFP bracket and sees Notre Dame making an early exit
Many experts across the country at taking their best guesses as to how the 2025 college football season will play out, and on Monday Joel Klatt released his College Football Playoff bracket, and it didn't look great for Notre Dame. While he does have the Irish in the field, as the No. 7 seeded team and playing No. 10 LSU, Klatt only has Notre Dame getting past the Brian Kelly led Tigers before bowing out to No. 2 Texas. This would be a very tough draw for the Irish, but extracting revenge on their former coach would help ease the pain of an early exit from the CFP. Klatt has Penn State as his top overall seed, followed by the Longhorns, Clemson and Ohio State. Notre Dame is eligible for a first-round bye, but he doesn't see them getting on. He picks the Irish's future long-standing rival Tigers as the winner defeating the Buckeyes who he predicts will come up just short of repeating. Hopefully, Notre Dame can get a higher seed than Klatt predicts, as it would make a run easier to the title game, but as we saw last year, if the Irish get hot, their opponent won't matter.
