Lipscomb basketball was among the nation's first teams to earn spot in the 2025 March Madness brackets when the Bisons won the Atlantic Sun Conference tournament championship on March 9 securing an automatic qualifier berth. The Nashville school became only the second NCAA tournament berth for Lipscomb (25-9), a 14 seed, which moved from NAIA to NCAA Division I in 2003. No. 3 seed Iowa State (24-9) is far more familiar with the NCAA tournament making its 24th appearance and its fourth straight. The Cyclones advanced to the Sweet 16 in 2022 and 2024. They've made it to the Elite Eight twice (1944 and 2000) and Final Four once (1944). Lipscomb leans heavily on ASUN player of the year Jacob Ognacevic (20.1 ppg. and 8.1 rpg.), but the Bisons have talent around the 6-foot-8 power forward in Will Pruitt (13.2 ppg.), Joe Anderson (12.5 ppg) and Gyasi Powell (11.6 ppg). Iowa State is led by Curtis Jones (17.1 ppg.), an AP All-American honorable mention guard who scored 22 first-half points and 31 overall against BYU in the Big 12 Tournament quarterfinal game. Cyclone forward Joshua Jefferson (13.0 points and 7.4 rebounds) could give Lipscomb more trouble than Curtis with his powerful 6-foot-9, 240-pound frame. Irish pubs get big business on St. Patty's Day
De Pere, Wis.(WFRV) – Some local Irish pubs are feeling like they found gold at the end of the rainbow. That's because it's St. Patrick Day on Monday, the busiest day of the year for many Irish pubs and restaurants. Wisconsin-native Jacob Ognacevic bounces back after missing season due to injury, leads Lipscomb into NCAA Tournament 'St. Patrick's Day is four times busier than our normal Friday fish fry,' said Wade Conard who is the owner of McGeorge's Pub in De Pere. 'Friday fish fry is the biggest day of the week normally.' The St. Patrick's Day party at McGeorge's began at 6 a.m. Monday and continued throughout the day. The bar packed with green-wearing revelers embracing the spirit of the holiday. Firefighters battle 720-acres blaze in Green Lake County's White River Marsh Conard said that the holiday falling on a Monday isn't a problem. 'It's a great day to have it because if it's a Friday then I get burned because we're already busy with Friday fish fries,' he said. 'I need it on an off day.' The Monday holiday didn't seem to bother revelers at McGeorge's either. 'It's St. Patrick's Day, there's no day of the week on St. Patrick's Day,' he said. 'There's only St. Patrick's Day. Ognacevic bounces back after missing sesaon due to injury and leads Lipscomb into NCAA Tournament
Lipscomb forward Jacob Ognacevic remembers growing up in Sheboygan and cheering for his home-state team as Wisconsin made back-to-back Final Four appearances in 2014 and 2015. 'Sam Dekker was from my hometown and went to the high school I went to,' Ognacevic recalled of the Badgers forward on those teams. 'Just watching a hometown guy play on that stage was really cool to see.'

Lipscomb vs. Iowa State officially set. Time, date for March Madness first round game
Lipscomb basketball became an automatic qualifier in the 2025 NCAA Tournament by winning the Atlantic Sun Conference tournament championship and learned Sunday it will play Iowa State (24-9) in the first round in Milwaukee in the South Region at 12:30 p.m. (CST) on Friday. Led by the trio of power forward Jacob Ognacevic with guards Will Pruitt and Joe Anderson, the Bisons (25-9) have won 11 or their last 12 games. Ognacevic was the Atlantic Sun player of the year, Anderson was the most outstanding player in the conference tournament and Pruitt made the all-conference second team and all-conference tournament team. Lipscomb is in the NCAA tournament for only the second time in its NCAA Division I era. The Bisons first trip came in 2018 when they won the conference tournament and then lost to North Carolina in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Bisons have also played twice in the NIT advancing to the championship game in 2019.
