Set within the made-up 1st Battalion The King's Fusiliers regiment, it delved into the professional and personal dramas of the show's ensemble. The standout stars were Robson and Jerome, who enjoyed a brief but significant music career, sparked by an episode where they performed Unchained Melody. With Simon Cowell's support, their rendition topped the charts for seven weeks and became 1995's best-selling single. They both exited the show in the fifth series, but it continued for another two seasons before wrapping up in December 1997. It ran for seven series and captured the nation's attention. Since the show ended, the stars have had varied fates. Here's a look at what the cast have been up to... Robson Green - Fusilier Dave Tucker ‌ Robson was already familiar to viewers for his role as Jimmy Powell on BBC One's Casualty when he scored the part of Fusilier Dave Tucker, reports the Express. This role propelled him to mega-stardom and chart-topping success. Since leaving the show, angling fanatic Robson has presented numerous fishing shows. He has also appeared in BBC Three's supernatural drama Being Human, as well as BBC One's Waterloo Road. His current role sees him playing DI George Keating in ITV's hugely popular '50s set detective drama Grantchester. ‌ Off screen, Green's personal life has been quite eventful; he wed Alison Ogilvie in 1991, but their marriage ended by 1999 amid reports of Green's affair with Pamela McDonald, who was then the wife of Emmerdale 's Ian Sharrock, known for his role as Jackie Merrick on the soap. He met his second wife, former Page 3 model Vanya Seager, during a recording session at BMG Records in 1995. They went on to have a son, Taylor Seager-Green and tied the knot in 2001. His career took another thrilling turn in 2019 when he shared the big screen with Keanu Reeves and Halle Berry in the action thriller John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum. ‌ Off-screen, the star has never married nor had children, but he's created a new-age holiday retreat named Trefacwn in a Grade II-listed Georgian mansion, which its website claims radiates "an ancient healing energy palpable to all who visit". Since then, Denise's career has thrived with roles in hit series like Holby City, Down To Earth, Waterloo Road, and Hollyoaks. She is also no stranger to reality TV and has appeared on Dancing On Ice and she won Celebrity Big Brother in 2012. A familiar face now on Loose Women, Denise openly shares her struggles with alcoholism on the show and is well appreciated for her candour. ‌ Behind the scenes, Denise is a mother to two sons with her former spouse Tim Healy, one being Matty, the frontman of The 1975, and she's currently married to artist Lincoln Townley. Annabelle Apsion - Joy Wilton Annabelle might not have been a well-known figure to audiences during her time on Soldier, Soldier with only a few minor roles under her belt, but today she stands as one of televisions most recognisable figures, noted for a myriad of iconic roles since departing the series in 1995. ‌ A year on from her exit, she portrayed Jenni Hicks, a mother who tragically lost her two daughters in the 1989 Hillsborough disaster, in the docudrama Hillsborough. She also shared the silver screen with Hollywood heartthrob Johnny Depp in From Hell, where she played Polly Nichols, Jack the Ripper's first known victim. In 2002, she made a brief yet unforgettable appearance on Coronation Street as Patricia Hillman, the ex-wife of serial killer Richard Hillman, who met a gruesome end at his hands. Despite her impressive acting portfolio, until recently she was most recognised for her role as Monica Gallagher in Channel 4's Shameless. However, these days she is best known for her portrayal of Mayor Violet Buckle in BBC One's Call The Midwife. ‌ Paterson Joseph - Fusilier Eddie "Horatio" Nelson Paterson Joseph was just beginning to make a name for himself when he featured in one episode of Soldier, Soldier in series four in 1994. He played Rodrick, a contestant on a futuristic version of The Weakest Link game show. Most recently, he dazzled audiences in cinemas as Arthur Slugworth in Wonka. Away from the spotlight, he shares his life with wife Emmanuelle Joseph and their child. He also holds the esteemed position of Chancellor at Oxford Brookes University. ‌ Holly Aird - Corporal (later Sergeant) Nancy Thorpe Holly, a veteran actress since childhood, boasted an impressive resume by the time she joined Soldier, Soldier. Post-departure, she captivated viewers as Carla in Dressing For Breakfast and became widely recognised for her role as forensic pathologist Frankie Wharton in BBC1's Waking the Dead. Her recent credits include roles in A Discovery Of Witches and Four Lives, and last year she shone in the Idris Elba-led Apple TV production Hijack. In her personal life, Holly was married to Rome actor James Purefoy from 1996 until 2002 and is currently wed to Toby Merritt since 2004. ‌ Samantha Morton - Clare Anderson Samantha Morton first graced our screens in Soldier, Soldier, making an immediate impact despite appearing in just four episodes. A mere four years later, she captured the nation's attention in ITV's Band Of Gold. Since then, she has graced the silver screen in Hollywood blockbusters like Minority Report with Tom Cruise, and Elizabeth: The Golden Age alongside Cate Blanchett. Expanding her talents, she has also ventured into producing and directing throughout her thirty-year career. Butlin's has pulled out all the stops for staycationers this summer with the grand opening of its biggest-ever indoor Soft Play centre and a brand-new Puppet Theatre. The new additions at its Bognor Regis resort are already making waves with families across the UK, with thousands more expected to visit during the school holidays. Spanning 3,000 square feet over four floors, the new soft play centre can now welcome up to 200 energetic little adventurers at a time, doubling the capacity of its previous space. To keep parents amused while the children play, there is also a comfy new 100-seat café area where they can relax with a cuppa while the kids burn off some energy. The new soft play centre ramps up the fun following the opening of the £15 million indoor activity centre PLAYXPERIENCE - a 50,000 square feet state-of-the-art immersive gaming attraction - last year. The West Sussex resort has another new opening alongside its soft play centre. The new Puppet Theatre showcases magical, family-friendly string puppet shows. New shows likeUnder The Sea, Jingle in the Jungle and Christmouse are just a taste of what's in store for guests this year. Helping to keep costs down for families, the puppet shows are free for families on Butlin's breaks and day visits. The entertainment team promises guests string-pulling fun, laugh-out-loud characters, and plenty of "oohs" and "aahs" from the little ones. This £1.8 million investment is the latest in a string of new developments across Butlin's three seaside resorts. The £15 million indoor activity centre PLAYXPERIENCE at Bognor Regis offers nine immersive gaming experiences including laser tag, a VR games arcade, escape rooms and more. A second £2.5 million SKYPARK opened in Minehead, an inclusive and interactive playground for children of all abilities. Last year also saw a £12 million investment in new Premium Lodges at the Maple Walk village in Skegness, 128 contemporary-designed lodges located at the heart of the Lincolnshire resort. Holiday Parks are very much a Great British institution, with millions of families joining in the fun year after year. If Butlin's isn't quite right, there are others to choose from. Haven Holidays, for example, is known for its scenic coastal settings and caravan options. Great for nature lovers and seaside fun, Butlins still leads the pack when it comes to immersive family entertainment and themed experiences. Alternatively, Parkdean Resorts offer a similar experience with 66 parks in popular coastal locations across the UK. Much like Haven, they feature swimming pools, on-site restaurants and a variety of family-friendly activities by the seaside. Center Parcs is also a firm favourite among holidaymakers, offering a wide range of activities across multiple forest locations in the UK. Loved by many, the only downside is the high price tag which can get very expensive, especially during school holidays. Guests who have already enjoyed a stay at Butlins Bognor Regis have left over 3,900 five-star reviews on TripAdvisor. One visitor said: "We had a lovely Easter break M-F at Butlins Bognor. Top quality entertainment, engaging and friendly staff, and we had the weather too. Such good fun for young and old alike. Very impressed with the new soft play, the Splash water park was fabulous and from start to finish we received nothing but exceptional customer service." Another said: "This was our third visit to Butlins within two years, needless to say we absolutely love brand new soft play and play experience are brilliant, soft play has very generous opening hours and the staff are really observant, looks like a much better replacement from the arena soft play. One family said: "We had a fun-filled tots week, busy all day, every day. Playxperience was a new 1 for us and we all enjoyed neo games- 4yr old right up to 60s." Not every visitor was quite so impressed. A disappointed reviewer said: "Decided to give Butlins a go for half term. Overall, for us adults, everything was a bit meh except for the entertainment, which was awesome." Another added: "Lots to do, great entertainment and things to do. The chalets are quite run down though - bedding is frayed and beds aren't that great." Summing it up, another five-star review added: " Always things to do, never get bored. Very clean apartment. New playxperience building is very good, packed with new, fun experiences. Had great fun in laser tag. Brilliant and helpful staff." Butlins is currently offering 40% off stays for 2025. These include Midweek Showtime breaks at Bognor Regis from £69 in June, Summer Holidays Feat Stephen Mulhern 3-night breaks from £352 and Justin Fletcher Tots Breaks from £79 in September.

Robson Green gives ultra-rare insight into relationship with son

Taking on a new sinister role for Paramount+ in The Game, Robson Green had a great time filming for the thriller in Spain. His son, Taylor, 25, was even able to join him. Robson Green flew abroad for his latest project. But amid his hectic filming schedule, he managed to find some downtime with his son, Taylor, 25. The actor, 60, it portraying a mysterious newcomer in Paramount's new thriller The Game alongside Sunetra Sarker and his former Being Human co-star, Jason Watkins. ‌ Here, Jason plays Huw, a retired detective still tormented by the case he never cracked - the Ripton Stalker. Years earlier, the serial killer narrowly evaded capture, leaving Huw with nothing but the memory of their voice - and a haunting sense of failure. ‌ Despite the series' dark subject matter, the shoot itself was anything but grim. Filming in Spain felt like a summer adventure for the cast, with daily group drives to set and plenty of off-camera laughs. 'It felt like going to summer school,' Sunetra says, 'We were living like students.' A lively WhatsApp group kept the fun going. Robson Green jokes: 'I'm glad you don't have eyes on it!' The Basque Country provided another major perk: incredible food. 'Many a Spanish meal was had in the Basque Country,' Robson says, 'I was certainly well looked after.' He even got to share the experience with Taylor, who visited him during filming. 'We spent time in San Sebastian and the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao,' he says, 'He's a history nut so he loved it!' Robson shares Taylor with his ex-wife Vanya Seager, to whom he was married from 2001 to 2013. And though Taylor is rarely seen in the public eye, Robson has often said they share an "extremely close" bond. ‌ More than anything, Robson was thrilled to work with Jason again. When his agent mentioned Jason's involvement, he signed up immediately for The Game. 'I love reconnecting with people I've worked with before,' Robson says, 'Watching their careers and journeys from afar, it's a joy.' Even the demanding schedule - which initially worried Robson - turned out to be a blessing. 'We shot a huge showdown with Jason in just half a day,' Robson says, 'What I thought would be stressful was actually joyous.' In the original script, Huw was a keen runner - but Jason quickly vetoed that. 'I can't really run anymore because of my attempts at professional football as a teenager,' he says. ‌ 'My knees aren't what they should be. So I made it quite clear early on that I wouldn't be running, only cycling and playing golf.' Robson still can't get over his pal's skills, grinning: 'He's got a very good swing!' Sunetra Sarker, on the other hand, plays Huw's long-suffering wife Alice - and she couldn't be more different from her on-screen character. 'Alice was the voice of reason,' she says, 'It's very different from the real Sunetra.' ‌ Alice and Huw start the series close, but his obsession with Patrick drives a wedge between them. It's not the first time Huw's struggled. 'He was sectioned for a couple of weeks,' Sunetra says, 'They've rebuilt things but his obsession triggers her trauma too.' Sunetra loved working with Jason and Robson - and her mum was impressed too. 'She couldn't believe I was working with Robson Green,' she says. Both actors are veterans with long careers filled with iconic roles, from Touching Evil and Wire in the Blood for Robson to The Crown and Line of Duty for Jason. Behind the scenes, Sunetra and Jason built up Alice and Huw's bond by staying in character, even off camera. 'They've got these pet names and in-jokes,' she says. 'Jason and I did the same whenever we could.' Jason adds: 'But the more Huw tries to convince Alice he's right about Patrick, the more insane he seems. He wants peace in his retirement but he can't let this case go.'
