A toddler was bitten by a dog at an East Lothian festival venue with organisers now issuing advice.
The child was with their parents at Fringe By The Sea in North Berwick on Wednesday, before being treated by medics after the incident. Organisers have been in contact with the parents since, and have asked dog owners to keep animals on leads at all time and 'keep them under control'.
They've also requested that if a dog is uncomfortable with crowds, young children or other dogs, they are kept away from the venue. The festival runs from August 1 to 10, and provides an alternative to Edinburgh's Fringe.
From Rory Steel, Director of Fringe By The Sea, told Edinburgh Live: "Our first aid tended to the little girl who was bitten by a dog on Wednesday, and have been in contact with the parents since.
"While we welcome well-behaved dogs to Fringe By The Sea, they must be on leads and under the owner's control at all times. If dogs are uncomfortable with crowds, young children or other dogs, we request that owners do not bring them onto site."
Fringe by the Sea dates back to 2008, and 'celebrates the people, businesses and organisations that make East Lothian unique.

Their website states: "In 2024, over 86,000 visitors flocked to Fringe by the Sea over 10 incredible days, making it one of Scotland's most vibrant and diverse festivals. Recognised as the National Winner of the Outstanding Cultural Festival at the 2023 Scottish Thistle Awards, it continues to grow as a must-visit celebration of arts and culture.
"Unlike many events that focus solely on headline acts, we embrace all forms of art—from music and comedy to literature, theatre, film, and beyond. Our festival is a celebration of creativity in all its forms."

My Festival – Kieran Hodgson: 'I end the day sitting bolt upright in bed screaming silently'

We caught up with British character comedian and actor Kieran Hodgson on what he's looking forward to this Fringe, as well as how his cat's morning wake-up call sets him up for a good day. Safe pair of hands (?) What will we learn from your show that we didn't know before? Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Ooh, that's a funny one. Normally, my shows are hideously educational and have been described contemptuously as 'a lecture with jokes' or 'edutainment', but this year I set out not to teach anyone anything and try to be funny instead. Let's see how that goes. Who or what was the biggest inspiration for your show? I have come to hate everything I've ever done, and in particular the quite theatrical, comedy-play-style performances of recent shows. So instead, I looked to people who were bringing people big laughs in a very direct, no-fuss way, particularly with an American angle (oh yeah, I should have said, my show's about America, btw), and found myself rewatching the first-ever stand-up show I saw on video: Eddie Izzard's 'Dress To Kill', and listening to a lot of US comic Mike Birbiglia's albums. I then made a show that bears almost no resemblance to either of those acts. What's the best review you've ever had, and the worst? My worst review was a lovely one-star from One4Review for my student sketch show in 2008. It began with the immortal line 'I usually hate student sketch shows', which made us all hope that we would be the exception, until the following sentence came along and it really was downhill from there. Best review? Ah, no comedian remembers their good reviews, they don't count. Who or what are you most excited about seeing this year? Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad David Elms is going to be the hottest of tickets, believe me. His improv show 'David Elms Describes A Room' is an extraordinary, joyful, utterly unique experience. Book now! Who do you most like spending time with in Edinburgh? My cat in Glasgow. Tell us something about you that would surprise people. I've never been to Stoke. What are the best and worst things that have happened to you at a festival? The best thing at a festival was probably a brief Fringe romance in 2008. Really cheered me up after that review and we managed the perfect ending by saying goodbye at sunrise on Grassmarket after the end-of-festival fireworks. Must write a novel about it one day. And there are no worst things because it's always a privilege to be at the Fringe. What's the first thing you do in the morning and the last thing you do at night? Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad The cat's usually ended up on my pillow during the night so I start the day by giving him a kiss. Then I end the day sitting bolt upright in bed screaming silently at all my fears and terrors. I'm a morning person. Thanks for the interview! We'd like to buy you a drink. Where are we going and what are we drinking? We're going to the Dagda Bar for a hauf and a hauf: half a pint of cask ale and a single of whatever their 'Malt Of The Month' is. A perfect Scottish wind-down after the emotional rollercoaster of this questionnaire.

Strictly Come Dancing 2025 rumoured start date 'leaked' and fans want answers

Strictly Come Dancing fans have been left divided after the rumoured launch date 'leaked', with reports the new series details are doing the rounds online BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans are left puzzled over the alleged "leak" of the rumoured launch date, with rumours circulating online about the details of the new series. ‌ TV Zone has revealed that this year's Strictly Come Dancing will commence a week later than usual, with the show set to kick off on 20 September. ‌ According to a tweet from the outlet: "FYI - this year's Strictly is a week later than recent series, with the show launching on September 20. Hence, no celebrity reveals just yet.." ‌ The publication also suggested that the first live show is slated for Saturday, 27 September. In contrast, last year's series began on 14 September with live shows starting on 21 September, while in 2023, Strictly kicked off on 16 September and the live shows followed on 23 September, reports Edinburgh Live. The Mirror has sought a statement from the Strictly Come Dancing bosses. ‌ After the "leaked" news emerged on X, Strictly fans took to social media to express their views, with some viewers concerned that the final would air too close to Christmas, not giving stars enough time with loved ones. One individual remarked, "Why so late? Does that mean the final will be closer to Christmas then? I just want the celebrity announcements." ‌ Another voiced their worry: "Yes, it's less than a week before Christmas, which has me worried that the pros are going to be in a hurry to go and see their families around the world... I hope they were made aware of this when they renewed their contracts," reports the Express. A thrilled fan observed: "Final will be on Saturday December 20 2025, just 5 days before Christmas." This year, the beloved judging panel, consisting of Anton Du Beke, Motsi Mabuse, Craig Revel Horwood, and head judge Shirley Ballas, will return. There will also be some new faces on the dance floor this year, with Julian Cailon and Alexis Warr joining the programme as professional dancers. Julian is an Australian dancer who has previously featured on Dancing with the Stars Down Under, whilst Alexis is an American dancer who won So You Think You Can Dance in 2022.
