McDonald's is axing two burgers — but '10/10' menu item is finally returning

Metro2 days ago

A big menu shake-up is coming (Picture: McDonalds/Metro.co.uk)
McDonald's fans, mark your calendars, because the next big menu change is coming to UK restaurants very soon.
From June 18, the fast food chain will be swapping out the current limited-edition menu items and welcoming back four fan-favourites and debuting a brand new burger.
The new item has been hailed as the 'most McDonald's burger ever' and is called the Big Arch, a name it wholeheartedly deserves as it's even bigger and wider than the classic Big Mac.
The beast of a burger (£7.99 on its own or £9.99 for a Medium Meal) features new Big Arch sauce, two Quarter Pounder beef patties, three slices of white cheddar cheese, crispy onions, slivered onions, pickles and lettuce, all stacked up (somewhat precariously) in a sesame and poppy seed bun.
The sauce is the star of the show and is exclusive to this particular burger, made with a mixture of McDonald's ketchup, mustard and pickle juice, plus a few other secret ingredients.
Thomas O'Neill, head of menu at McDonald's UK and Ireland, claims the new burger is one of the 'biggest things [McDonald's] will launch in a generation', which is pretty exciting.
But there's more…
As well as the new burger, two other savoury treats are joining the line-up including the Cheesy McCrispy (£6.69 or £8.49 for a Medium Meal), which first launched at Christmas last year.
The chicken burger is a 'levelled up' version of the classic McCrispy and sees a chicken breast in a crispy coating topped with lettuce, crispy onions, bacon, two slices of cheese and a pink pickled onion chutney. This is then covered in a cheese sauce and served in a toasted bun.
And the cheesy goodness doesn't stop there, as Halloumi Fries (£2.99 for a four-piece box) are also returning to the menu, served with a Sweet Chilli Dip.
For those who prefer something a little sweeter, two popular desserts are also making a comeback and one is a Halloween favourite.
The Toffee Crisp McFlurry (£2.39) is returning as well as the Toffee Apple Pie (£2.09). The former is comprised of soft dairy ice cream swirled with Toffee Crisp pieces and topped with toffee sauce, while the latter has a spiced apple filling with toffee sauce and toffee pieces.
The pie, which usually features on the McDonald's menu in October has previously proved a hit with customers, who hailed it '10/10' and 'amazing'.
The Steakhouse Stack (left) and McSpicy x Frank's RedHot (right) will be leaving the menu after June 17 (Picture: McDonald's)
But as always, the new arrivals mean we will have to say goodbye to several products and this time we'll be losing the Lotus Biscoff McFlurry and Cheesy Garlic Bread Dippers plus two burgers – the Steakhouse Stack and McSpicy x Frank's RedHot.
These will all be disappearing from McDonald's UK after June 17, so you've only got a few weeks left to try them if you haven't done so already.
One item that is going to keep on sticking around though, is the Katsu Chicken One (£3.49), a wrap with grilled or crispy chicken, katsu sauce, crispy onions, cucumber and lettuce.
The new menu will launch from June 18 and will be available for six weeks from that date.
What does the new Big Arch burger taste like?
Metro's specialist food writer Courtney Pochin got an early taste of the giant new burger and thought it was 'better than a Big Mac'.
She said: 'As Thomas said, the sauce is so quintessentially McDonald's in flavour. The combination of the slightly sweet ketchup, tangy pickle juice and punchy mustard is comfortingly familiar and yet somehow manages to taste new at the same time. I'm going to need them to bottle and sell this immediately, or at the very least let me order a pot of it to dunk my fries into.
'The Quarter Pounder patties give the whole thing a very meaty flavour, which is stronger than what you'd get with standard McDonald's burgers, and there's a very satisfying crunch from the crispy onions that elevates the overall eating experience.
'If I had to give it a rating out of 10, I'd give it a nine. I'm a big fan of it as far as McDonald's burgers go, but it doesn't get full marks as there's one big issue with it… it's incredibly messy.
'Getting it into the box was a challenge for staff and getting it out was just as difficult for me. Things took a turn for the worse when I tried to actually eat it as there's so much sauce inside, everything slips and slides about on the bun as you take a bite.
'I fashioned a bib out of napkins, but still ended up with dollops of sauce, bits of lettuce and onions all over me. Eventually, I gave in and asked for a knife and fork. It felt completely and utterly wrong, but it did make a world of difference. Let it be known that this certainly isn't something you'll want to grab at the drive-thru and eat in your car in a hurry.'
Courtney added: 'But even if you do end up wearing most of it, you certainly won't go hungry. It's so big, I only managed to finish half of it. For times when you're feeling ravenous and a Big Mac or a Double Cheeseburger just won't cut it, the Big Arch definitely will.'

Gird your loins, McDonald's fans: the Snack Wrap is back this summer

McDonald's fans have been very busy in the past ten years—ever since the beloved Snack Wrap was discontinued in 2016, diners have been asking the world-famous fast-food chain to bring back the treat. McD's devotees have desperately taken to social media and even created a petition that garnered almost 19,000 signatures in an effort to see the wrap on the menu again. And now those Snack Wrap dreams are coming true: the fan-favorite menu item is officially returning to participating McDonald's restaurants on Thursday, July 10. For those who aren't familiar, the Snack Wrap is a soft flour tortilla holding McCrispy strips—all-white-meat chicken strips that are breaded and fried—topped with lettuce, a mix of cheddar jack and Monterey Jack cheeses and your choice of sauce (ranch, honey mustard or salsa roja). The roll-up comes in two flavors: The spicy version has a touch of habanero pepper, a flavor aficionados might recognize from the Spicy McCrispy sandwich already on the menu, while the ranch option has those classic hints of garlic and onion. The Snack Wrap was phased out nationally in 2016, and now as we hit summer 2025 and its blistering temperatures, we have a chance to eat the chain's sole menu item that isn't hot (other than the desserts and beverages). It's a healthier option than many on the menu, coming in at less than 300 calories. And, as folks who created the petition point out, it's the perfect snack for a road trip because you can hold it in one hand and drive with the other.

Youngest Omaze winner puts her £3,000,000 house up for sale — for £2,500,000

For the price of just a £10 raffle ticket, winners of the Omaze Million Pound House Draw walk away with a dream home, complete with bougie interiors, and absolutely no mortgage stress attached. Each new owner has the choice to move in, rent, or sell up, with the majoritychoosing to put their house on the market, and become an instant cash millionaire. Lauren Keene, the youngest winner at just 24, is no different. Back in December, she won a Wirral property, valued at more than £3,000,000. Now, less than six months later, she's selling up her six-bed James-Bond style mansion — but for just £2,500,000, half a million less than it's previous valuation. When Lauren, a nanny, found out about her win, she was on her way to grab a trusty McDonald's drive-through meal. As she was pondering her options, her phone rang – Omaze was on the other end of the line to tell her that she'd won. The FCA does not regulate most Buy to Let mortgages. Your home or property may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage. 'I was sceptical — and hungry — but went straight home to see what I'd won,' Lauren, who is from Gloucester, said at the time. Afterwards, she joked that she wasn't fussed about missing her regular post-work snack as 'missing that Maccies' made her a 'multi-millionaire.' Although she did later pick up a 'very, very happy meal'. A few days after finding out about the life-changing win, Lauren and her partner Ryan Mitchell, 25, a software engineer, celebrated his birthday in style. She joked that the house was his 'birthday and Christmas present combined.' The couple – who have been together since they were 18 – had been saving relentlessly to buy a place of their own, with Lauren still living in a two-bedroom flat with her dad. Lauren's home (called Rock Mount) spans 4,750 square feet and was even nominated for the RIBA Mansell House of the Year. It draws on inspiration from the American West Coast and mid-century modern styles – and certainly wouldn't look out of place in LA, either. The interiors certainly don't skip on the details, complete with a state-of-the-art cinema room, double garage, and even a sunken sofa. Outside, there's a heated swimming pool, paired with a huge terrace and multiple full-width balconies overlooking the space. Perfect for hot girl summer, right? CEO of Yopa Estate Agents, Verona Frankish, tells Metro that the postcode where the Omaze home is located, CH48, has actually seen a 10% increase in property prices since December 2024. In her view, the reduced value 'hasn't been driven by a decline in local property values' — but it's important to consider that housing stock in the area is 'rather slim.' 'Homes priced at £1,000,000 or more account for just 16% of the total homes for sale, while homes valued at £2,500,000 or more account for just 4%,' Verona explains. 'So the likelihood is that the pool of potential buyers will be limited, and when you also consider that the design of this particular property is a little more contemporary than the more traditional aesthetic of other prime properties in the area, it might not hold the same degree of appeal.' However, she adds that winning a £3,000,000 property for a 'few pounds' means that a reduction is, of course, 'easier to stomach. You're essentially 'making £2,500,000, rather than losing £500,000.' Naturally, homes of this value aren't for the average prospective homeowner, as it massively exceeds the typical rate across the UK, which data from Zoopla places at £268,250. In terms of the types of buyers the home might attract, Verona reckons it'll catch the eye of people with 'deep enough pockets' – but believes it's 'probably more suited to a younger buyer due to its style.' She sees it as a 'beautifully unique property with a wealth of attractive features,' and notes that it's a 'relative steal, providing very good value for money to whoever does take it on.' Of the 37 winners, many chose to sell their properties. The Dorset home – which was won by 60-year-old father-of-three Chris Milnes – is currently on the market for £2,100,000. In June 2024, when he won the property, it was valued at £2,500,000. When he first found out, he hadn't even told his family that he'd entered the draw – so naturally, they were 'speechless.' Having spent most of his childhood in a council flat in Leeds, Chris always intended to sell up and cash in to unlock a new life as a multi-millionaire. He said he wanted to give his 'children the start in life I never had.' Meanwhile, the Surrey home – originally valued at £3,000,000 and won by 54-year-old Rachael Reid from Inverness in July 2024 – is currently on the market for £2,750,000. More Trending When Rachael first received the call, she thought a family member was playing a joke on her. She never expected her life to change forever. But for now, Rachael loves where she lives – which is why the family have decided to cash in and pocket the money so that they can buy an 'amazing home' closer to their family and friends in Scotland. 'The money from the sale will change everything for the entire family – it's just incredible – we're all so excited for the future – we might even build our very own Omazing house!' Rachael said at the time. 'Entering Omaze was the best decision I ever made – I wish anyone who enters the best of luck, if it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone.' Sabrina Carpenter fans convinced she's taking aim at ex Barry Keoghan in new song

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Fans are certain that Sabrina Carpenter wrote a Taylor Swift-level savage song about her ex Barry Keoghan. The pop diva, 26, announced her new single – titled Manchild – on Tuesday evening via an Instagram post. Highly anticipated by fans of Sabrina Carpenter and messy situationships alike, the song is set to drop on Thursday. The singer shared a vintage-looking teaser video – in which she can be seen wearing daisy dukes, platform shoes, and a tied-up white shirt – hinting at the new song. She captioned the post: 'This one's about you!!' along with details about the song's release. Fans were quick to speculate that the new song is about Barry Keoghan, who Sabrina started dating in December 2023 before breaking up around a year later. Rumours of infidelity and hard partying swirled around the Irish actor in the wake of the split, though nothing was ever confirmed. One fan commented on the post: 'And we know who you are talking about diva'. The official account for the dating app grindr wrote: 'We all thought of him didn't we'. Another added: 'DRAG HIM BABE WE CAN'T WAIT.' One fan chimed in: 'You better clock that Barry!' The pair's much-discussed relationship included music videos, countless break-up rumours, and several social media interactions – and it seems fans are still getting new content even nearly a year later. The pair broke the internet when Barry starred in Sabrina's music video for Please Please Please as the love interest, something she later used against him in an on-stage dig. Performing in Barry's hometown of Dublin, Ireland, back in March, Sabrina spoke to the crowd at Dublin's 3Arena, saying that Irish boys are 'hard work,' drawing a knowing laugh from the crowd. More Trending The dig came before the pop star launched into Please Please Please, which is also widely believed to have been written about her relationship with Barry. One source previously claimed to The Sun that Sabrina and Barry broke up because she was 'fed up' with Barry's behaviour when drunk. Later, unconfirmed rumours that Barry may have been unfaithful to Sabrina were rampant, with the actor going online in December 2024 to plead with disgruntled fans to stop 'showing up at his Granny's door.' Now, it seems – much to the delight of fans – that the drama is still not over, and Sabrina will make sure she gets the last word. Got a story?
