'Last Saturday while watching the sun rise at our new local beach, Adam turned and said: 'Cate, I have a question for you.'
'I thought maybe he was going to ask what kind of plants to put in our gardens, what kind of dog we should get, or what we should make for dinner.
'Instead, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course, I said 'yes'…(and cried a lot).'Simply the perfect way to start the next chapter of our lives.'
The couple have been together for some time now, with the current world record holder for the short course 100m freestyle saying that her notability had nothing to do with the relationship beginning.
'He didn't know who I was and he maintains he never Googled me – he wasn't star-struck!,' Campbell told the Sydney Morning Herald in 2023.
Like most relationships, theirs experienced a bump in the road, with the couple splitting when Campbell moved away to further pursue in career in the pool which she referred to as her 'biggest heartbreak'.
After reconciling when the eight-time Olympic medallist moved back to Brisbane the pair have gone the distance, with Kerr popping the question last week.
Her announcement post has been flooded with comments from notable athletes sending love to the newly engaged couple.
'Congratulations!!! This is so beautiful, so happy for you both ❤️❤️,' fellow gold medallist Shayna Jack said.
Campbell's gold medal teammate from the Rio Olympics Emma McKeon sent love saying, 'Congratulations ❤️❤️❤️'.
Australian Olympic royalty Ariana Titmus commented that it was, 'The best news ❤️'.
While the Australian Olympics Instagram page showed love with '💚💛💚💛'.

Justin Timberlake diagnosed with ‘relentlessly debilitating' Lyme disease
Justin Timberlake has been diagnosed with 'relentlessly debilitating' Lyme disease. The 44-year-old singer and actor disclosed the diagnosis in a statement posted on Instagram after the final show of his Forget Tomorrow tour, which concluded in Turkey on Wednesday (30.07.25.) Justin told fans: 'I've been battling some health issues, and was diagnosed with Lyme disease – which I don't say so you feel bad for me – but to shed some light on what I've been up against behind the scenes.' Lyme disease is a bacterial infection spread to humans by ticks, which can cause symptoms ranging from nerve pain and fatigue to cognitive difficulties and chronic illness. In his statement, Justin added the diagnosis helped explain 'why (he) would be onstage and in a massive amount of nerve pain or, just feeling crazy fatigue or sickness'. He said: 'I was faced with a personal decision. Stop touring? Or, keep going and figure it out.' Justin, who first rose to fame as part of the boy band *NSYNC, opted to continue. 'The joy that performing brings me far outweighs the fleeting stress my body was feeling,' he said – adding: 'I'm so glad I kept going.' He also said sharing his condition publicly was important to ensure his struggles were not 'misinterpreted', adding he was proud to prove his 'mental tenacity' during the tour, which has received mixed reviews for what some described as underwhelming performances. Justin went on: 'I chose to be transparent about (my) struggles, so they would not be misinterpreted.' The performer has sold more than 88 million records worldwide and has won ten Grammy Awards. His latest tour began in April 2024 and included performances across Europe, North America and Asia. He is married to 42-year-old actor Jessica Biel, with whom he shares two sons, Silas and Phineas. Justin is far from the first celebrity to open up about being diagnosed with Lyme disease. Fellow singer Avril Lavigne and model Bella Hadid have both spoken publicly about their experiences with the illness in recent years. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates around 476,000 Americans are diagnosed and treated for the condition annually.

Justin Timberlake reveals ‘debilitating' Lyme disease diagnosis after tour backlash
Justin Timberlake has been diagnosed with Lyme disease. The singer, 44, told fans about his 'debilitating' health struggle in a statement posted on Instagram Thursday. 'Well, as these two incredible years come to an end and I look forward to the future, I wanted to write something from the heart. It's not an easy task to try to contextualize the whirlwind of touring –– but, I will try,' he began, referencing his Forget Tomorrow tour, which wrapped Wednesday. 'Among other things, I've been battling some health issues, and was diagnosed with Lyme disease — which I don't say so you feel bad for me –– but to shed some light on what I've been up against behind the scenes,' Timberlake explained. He continued: 'If you've experienced this disease or know someone who has — then you're aware: living with this can be relentlessly debilitating, both mentally and physically.' Timberlake said that he was 'shocked' when he learned of his diagnosis. 'But, at least I could understand why I would be onstage and in a massive amount of nerve pain or, just feeling crazy fatigue or sickness,' he said of his symptoms. He noted he 'was faced with a personal decision' to potentially quit his tour. 'I decided the joy that performing brings me far outweighs the fleeting stress my body was feeling,' he wrote. 'I'm so glad I kept going.' 'Not only did I prove my mental tenacity to myself but, I now have so many special moments with all of you that I will never forget,' Timberlake told his fans. 'I was reluctant to talk about this because I was always raised to keep something like this to yourself. But I am trying to be more transparent about my struggles so that they aren't misinterpreted.' The Grammy winner concluded his message: 'Sharing all of this with the hope that we can all find a way to be more connected. I'd like to do my part to help others experiencing this disease too.' Timberlake's wife, Jessica Biel, with whom he has sons Silas, 10, and Phineas, 5, supported her husband by liking his post and sharing it on her Instagram Story. According to the Mayo Clinic, Lyme disease is an illness caused by Borrelia bacteria. Humans usually get Lyme disease from the bite of a tick carrying the bacteria. Other celebrities who have been diagnosed with Lyme disease include Justin Bieber, Avril Lavigne, Shania Twain, Riley Keough, Debbie Gibson, Amy Schumer and Yolanda and Bella Hadid. Timberlake's health news comes after he faced backlash on his tour for lackluster performances. Last week, fans accused Timberlake of barely singing onstage at the Electric Castle festival in Romania. Fan videos showed the musician having the crowd sing the majority of his 2016 hit 'Can't Stop the Feeling!' as he frolicked around the stage in the rain. The *NSYNC alum also faced backlash in February for abruptly canceling his final tour stop in Ohio after coming down with the flu. The 'Mirrors' singer said he was 'heartbroken' that he had to cancel the concert and promised refunds, but fans still slammed him for the last-minute notice. Timberlake's tour started in April 2024 — two months before he was arrested for suspicion of DWI in Sag Harbor, Long Island. In September, he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of driving while ability impaired. Originally published as Justin Timberlake reveals 'debilitating' Lyme disease diagnosis after tour backlash
