Brendan Rodgers provides injury update on Celtic duo
He took a break from his rehab to meet up with his teammates at their pre-season training base in Portugal this week.
Rodgers was delighted to see the 26-year-old but admits he has got a long road ahead of him.
He said: "Yes, he's coming along really well. I think we obviously sent him back to assess his fitness here and be with his family.
"And yes, the progress has come along really well.

"I think the first 12 weeks of that injury, it's important that you get to a point where you can, in the nine to 12 weeks, that you're able to straighten it.
"So he can do that. He was in the gym. So yes, he's coming along well. Long, long way to go. But it's good to see him."
Goalkeeper Schmeichel sat out of the friendly against Estrela Da Amadora after being a late arrival to pre-season training. But Rodgers says he will be available for the next game against Sporting Lisbon
He added: "Yes, again, he's only sort of met up with us at the beginning of the week.
"So we'll just get him moving again, he missed today, and then be available for the next game."

Rodgers issues verdict on Kenny's Celtic display vs Falkirk
The Irish striker got the nod as his fellow countryman, Adam Idah, dropped to the bench. Kenny eventually played until the 62nd minute, when he was replaced by summer signing Shin Yamada. In his post-match press conference, Rodgers was directly asked about Kenny's performance in Celtic's 4-1 win: "I think he worked very hard," he replied. "He's an honest boy who gives his all in the game, and that's what the team's about. Read more: "[He] didn't have so many chances, a couple of good wee runs, didn't quite drop to him in the box, but I thought he worked very hard and then created the chance then for Shin Yamada to come on." Kenny didn't manage to get himself on the scoresheet. He was handed a new contract by Celtic last week, keeping him at the club until at least the summer of 2029. The Scottish Premiership champions also recently tied down Dane Murray to a new deal, with his now lasting until 2028. He scored in last night's win over Falkirk: "I think his ceiling's so high," said Rodgers of the central defender after the match. "There are areas of the game that he needs to clearly, obviously work on. "But he's 6'4", he's quick, he can take the ball. He has a comfort with the ball which aligns with top players and he just, again, concentration is something that's key for defenders. "But I really like him and that's hence the reason we've tied him down. And I think he's got a great future."

Liverpool's touching gesture to Diogo Jota inside Anfield dressing room
Diogo Jota tragically died in a car accident in July and Liverpool have left his spot in the dressing room at Anfield untouched in an emotional tribute to the forward Liverpool have left an empty seat in their dressing room in a touching tribute to Diogo Jota after he tragically passed away in July. Jota and his brother died in a car accident in Spain and Liverpool have retired the No.20 shirt in his honour. The club have also left his spot in the Anfield dressing room empty as a poignant reminder. There were a number of other emotional tributes to Jota as Liverpool began their new Premier League campaign with a 4-2 win over Bournemouth on Friday. A minute's silence was held ahead of kick-off, while special mosaics were displayed in the stands in honour of Jota and his brother. Liverpool fans also chanted Jota's name after the final whistle, a gesture which reduced Mohamed Salah to tears. Federico Chiesa, who scored a crucial late goal to put Liverpool 3-2 up, gave an emotional interview after the win. "Above all, at Anfield it seems like in the second half when you attack towards the Kop, it feels like the ball wants to go inside the net," Chiesa said. "And today, I want to think that we had also the help of Diogo and his brother up there. It was really emotional today and after I scored, my thoughts went to Diogo, to Andre, to his family who were here today. "It was really emotional. The goal was for him. In my mind, I think that Diogo was somewhere in here helping me to score this goal. I'd like to think like that. He's always with us, he's going to be with us. "It was tough today but there was a great atmosphere, the fans were amazing throughout the game. Also, I'm really grateful for the song they're singing. Really, really emotional." Liverpool boss Arne Slot also revealed that he would have turned to Jota as they searched for a late goal against Bournemouth. "Normally at 2-2 everyone knows which player I look to at that moment in time," Slot said. "I would have loved to bring in Diogo Jota, but I could not for terrible reasons. But tonight the fans and the players did what he did for us many times in the past. "Bournemouth faced a team that never gave up. We lost many players during the summer but we did not lose our mentality."
