Wan Azizah brings comfort, relief to elderly in Bandar Tun Razak
The Prime Minister's wife, who is also Bandar Tun Razak member of parliament, personally delivered monthly financial assistance from the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) and essential supplies to help ease the burden of medical costs faced by the recipients.
"Alhamdulillah, this morning I was able to visit three patients.
"One of them was Puan Siti Fatimah, 88, who has been ill for a long time and is now in the emergency ward at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital," she told reporters after the programme.
Two others were visited at their homes, in Taman Mewah and Taman Ikhlas here. including Md Zin Abu Kasim, a former colleague of Dr Wan Azizah during her time at the university hospital.
The programme was also attended by the Prime Minister's political secretary Datuk Azman Abidin, Cheras and Bandar Tun Razak Social Welfare Department senior officer Datuk Seri Mohd Shahrulnizam Mazlan, Skuad Jejak Asnaf coordinator Muhammad Ishak Zulkifly, and several MAIWP personnel.
One of the recipients, Abdul Aziz Abu Bakar, 61, could not hold back his emotions as he spoke about the help he received.
A retired worker, Abdul Aziz was seriously injured in an accident on April 13, leaving him with fractured ribs and a cracked shoulder blade.
"I'm a pensioner, and I only receive around RM300 a month. With this assistance, it really helps ease my daily expenses," he said, adding that officials had indicated the possibility of further aid since some of his children are still in school.

On today's programme, Mohd Na'im said MAIWP's top management witnessed first-hand the realities of asnaf individuals, while also strengthening the bond between zakat payers and recipients. He also shared his experience of meeting an asnaf who had just started a family and was struggling with kidney disease, requiring ongoing dialysis treatment. 'The cost of his monthly dialysis is RM4,000, totalling RM50,000 annually. With a salary of only RM2,500, it is nearly impossible for him to afford this treatment. Therefore, MAIWP will assist him in getting the treatment,' he said, adding that such support allows patients to continue treatment without compromising other necessities such as housing and daily expenses. Meanwhile, Wan Mohd Elham Faiz Wan Mat, 36, expressed his gratitude for MAIWP's support, which eased the burden of undergoing haemodialysis three times a week at RM280 per session. 'Part of the cost is covered by the Social Security Organisation, which provides RM150 per session, while MAIWP's zakat fund pays for the balance. I am truly grateful for this support,' said the Air Selangor employee, who was diagnosed with kidney disease in 2013. 'I skip meals': Disabled father struggles to care for 2 sons
JOHOR BARU: A father in Johor Baru, living with physical disabilities and facing financial hardship, is determined to raise his two young sons on his own amid severe challenges. Ahmad Kamal Kadir, 58, said that not only did he suffer a stroke which left one side of his body paralysed eight years ago, but he also had to have all the toes on his right foot amputated due to an infection late last year, leaving him unsteady on his feet. Despite his condition, Ahmad Kamal remains determined to care for his two sons, aged nine and ten, and the family currently resides in a rented room in a house in Taman Dato' Penggawa Barat. "Currently, I rely solely on the RM300 monthly welfare assistance from the Social Welfare Department for my children's schooling and our daily expenses. "Life isn't easy for us now. I used to be a contractor and lived comfortably, but now I am being tested by Allah. "I have to rely on the generosity of friends almost every month just to pay the RM400 room rent. "I often have to skip meals, as my priority is my children – Ahmad Faiz and his younger brother, Ahmad Daniel Hafiz Al Siddiq. "When it comes to basic needs, I can't afford many things for them, including school supplies. But I am thankful they understand my situation," he added. Ahmad Kamal said he is grateful to still have the strength to carry out daily tasks such as cooking, doing the laundry, and sending his sons to school using an old car given by a friend. "My wife is Indonesian, but we lost contact years ago due to family issues. "I am still trying to trace her, particularly to discuss our children's future, especially the application for our youngest son's birth certificate. "I have the necessary documents, but the National Registration Department (NRD) instructed us to visit the Johor NRD's investigation and enforcement division to schedule a DNA test appointment between me and Ahmad Faiz Al Siddiq," he told Harian Metro. Ahmad Kamal added that he was asked to pay RM1,700 for the collection of three blood samples by the Johor Chemistry Department for the DNA test. "I hope the relevant authorities can provide financial assistance, as Ahmad Faiz Al Siddiq's future will remain uncertain without a birth certificate," he said. Earlier, Ahmad Kamal received RM1,000 worth of goods from a prominent supermarket, as well as a cash donation from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Ehsan Penyayang chairman Faridah Mustafa.
