Happy Valley star Sarah Lancashire to be honoured at Windsor Castle
The actress has won plaudits for her performances in TV shows including Happy Valley and Last Tango In Halifax, following her breakthrough role as Raquel Watts in soap opera Coronation Street during the 1990s, appearing in more than 260 episodes.
After leaving the cobbles, Lancashire earned praise for her TV drama work including on the BBC's critically acclaimed Clocking Off from 2000 until 2003 – a series about factory workers.
She earned her first Bafta award in 2014 for her supporting role in the BBC comedy-drama series Last Tango In Halifax.
In 2017 she earned the best actress Bafta for her portrayal of no-nonsense Sergeant Catherine Cawood in the Yorkshire-set thriller Happy Valley, and became an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours for services to drama.
Also among the personalities to be honoured on Tuesday are cyclists Jenny Holl, Dannielle Khan, Emma Finucane and Katy Marchant.
All four are being made Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBEs) for services to cycling.
Holl, 25, and her tandem partner Sophie Unwin won two gold medals in the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris, while Khan, 29, piloted Lizzi Jordan to gold in the women's tandem 1km time trial.
Marchant, 32, won Great Britain's first Olympic women's team sprint gold at the 2024 Paris Games, alongside teammates Finucane and Sophie Capewell.
Finucane, 22, became the first British woman in 60 years to win three medals at a single Olympics as she took bronze in the individual sprint in the 2024 Paris Games.
Trampoline gold medallist Bryony Page is also to be made an MBE for services to trampoline gymnastics.
Paralympic swimmer Alice Tai is to be made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to swimming.
Tai, 25, topped the 2024 Paralympic podium less than three years after opting to have her right leg amputated by winning gold in the women's 100m S8 backstroke.
Penny Briscoe, the director of sport at the British Paralympic Association who also served as chef de mission for the fifth time in Paris, is to be made a CBE during the same ceremony for services to Paralympic sport.

The programme consists of eight hour-long episodes and will also feature Jean-Marc Barr as King Henry, Elliott Cowan as Sweyn, Bjarne Henriksen as Earl Siward, Oliver Masucci as Baldwin, Indy Lewis as Margaret, Jason Forbes as Thane Thomas, Ingvar Sigurdsson as Fitzosbern, Ines Asserson as Judith, Sveinn Ólafur Gunnarsson as Hardrada and Léo Legrand as Odo. Fresh promotional artwork for the drama presents a monochrome portrait of Harold with a resolute expression whilst William looms behind him, ready for combat. BBC audiences were swift to react to the programme's preview, with one commenting: "I hope they include the part where William had Harold buried on the beach, to guard the English shore.'I always found that quite touching, like a mark of his respect for such a great warrior." Ray French dies as tributes paid to legendary BBC commentator and 'Voice of Rugby'
Ray French was known as the 'Voice of Rugby League' and became a popular figure on the BBC before he suffered from dementia in recent years. Legendary rugby league commentator Ray French has died at the age of 85. French who had a decade spanning career with the BBC and became the beloved 'Voice of Rugby League' had been suffering from dementia in recent years. The St Helens-born icon also played internationally in both union and league. He was given an MBE in 2011 for services to rugby league. French succeeded Edding Waring in the role when he took the job in 1981. He remained on the air for a total of 38 years, reports the Mirror. After confirming his passing, the BBC will be airing a re-run of a episode of Rugby League Heroes from 2016 which featured French. Tributes are flooding in following the sad news. The charity RL Cares announced the news on social media platform X. Their post read: "Sad news Ray French MBE, the former St Helens, Widnes and Great Britain international & for many years the voice of rugby league on the BBC passed away earlier today. His successor at the BBC, Dave Woods, added: "So many fabulous memories of Ray as both friend and colleague. He injected incredible warmth and passion in his commentary and journalism. Just a wonderful, kind and humble man. You always wanted to be in his company." Former Widnes and Great Britain star Jonathan Davies also wrote: "Really sad news of the passing of my friend and legend rugby player and broadcaster. I know Ray had not been well for a while so I hope he passed peacefully. "Had many great days with Ray he was such a lovely man.I hope the RL appreciated what great work did for the game. French played for England in union, winning four caps in the second row in 1961 before moving to league. He signed for his home town club, St Helens, that year and helped them win the Challenge Cup five years later. In 1968, he appeared four times for Great Britain in international league. French left to join Widnes after 204 matches in Saints colours and played 123 times for the Chemics. French also had a career away from the pitch. He was a rugby master at Cowley High School.
