Man Utd transfer news: Red Devils on ‘alert' for major hijack as bombshell move made

Manchester United have already spent heavily this summer but the Red Devils' work in the transfer market looks far from finished with deals for Gianluigi Donnarumma and Idrissa Gueye Manchester United have spent heavily this summer as Ruben Amorim attempts to get the side back on track. Matheus Cunha became the Red Devils' first summer signing a few months ago. ‌ And he was very quickly followed by another big-name arrival as United chiefs finally got a £71m deal for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo over the line. But Amorim's side might not be totally finished there. ‌ A striker and a new goalkeeper are among the players that they could move for in the remainder of the window. But with three weeks to go until their Premier League opener against Arsenal, they need to get a move on. ‌ Away from incomings, a few more exits might also be on the agenda. Marcus Rashford has already completed a loan move to Barcelona, while Antony, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho could all still leave. With all of that being said, take a look at all of the latest transfer news and rumours from Old Trafford. United on 'alert' for Donnarumma Manchester United are keeping a close eye on developments surrounding Gianluigi Donnarumma's future at PSG. Talks over a new contract for the Italian goalkeeper have come to a standstill over recent weeks, and it appears that the French giants are ready to move on. ‌ According to L'Equipe, they are in talks with Ligue 1 rivals Lille regarding a deal for Lucas Chevalier, who is seen as a replacement for Donnarumma. And that has seen a couple of Premier League sides sit up and take notice. Manchester United have a long-term interest in the former AC Milan man, while Manchester City are also eyeing him as a possible replacement for Ederson should he decide to leave the Etihad. Red Devils plot Brentford hijack Manchester United could be set to frustrate Brentford more after their protracted move for Bryan Mbeumo. According to The Sun, they are going head-to-head with the Bees for the signing of Metz teenager Idrissa Gueye. ‌ The youngster caught the eye in Ligue 2 last season, scoring five goals in 17 appearances. United see him as one for the future, while Brentford would offer him first-team football straight away. Man United have already been left annoyed by Brentford's actions this summer during their talks regarding forward Bryan Mbeumo. ‌ Amorim confirms Mbeumo plan Speaking of United's recent signing, boss Ruben Amorim has confirmed that Mbeumo is not quite ready to make his debut for the Red Devils yet. He said: 'Bryan is starting slowly. "He is not going to play in the next one. We hope to have Bryan in the last game [in the United States]. He's training now, so we'll see." Mbeumo's £71m move to Old Trafford was finally confirmed last week. Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content. Everton make surprise £31m offer for Chelsea and Liverpool transfer target

Everton have reportedly made a surprise offer worth €36m (£31.5m) plus add-ons to sign Chelsea and Liverpool transfer target Malick Fofana. The Toffees could reach an agreement with French club Lyon 'fairly quickly' in a stunning transfer twist, French outlet L'Equipe reported on Saturday. Everton and Lyon are currently in club-to-club talks while David Moyes' side are also discussing personal terms with Fofana ahead of a possible move. Liverpool and Chelsea were both linked with a deal for the 20-year-old winger earlier in the summer transfer window. Arsenal, Nottingham Forest and Fulham had also expressed an interest in Fofana while Bayern Munich, Napoli and RB Leipzig were keen on him too. Chelsea had even made a verbal enquiry for the Belgium international – but it appears he could be heading to Everton instead. Fofana has played a total of 64 games for Lyon to date, conjuring up 15 goals and seven assists for the Ligue 1 side. The Belgian helped Lyon reach the Coupe de France final in 2024 and has established himself as one of the brightest young talents across Europe. Fofana joined Lyon from Gent in January 2024, with the French club paying a fee of €17 million plus €5 million in add-ons to sign the player. It's thought that Lyon want to secure at least €40m (£35m) in fixed terms to allow Fofana to join Everton. Everton are keen to wrap up the deal as soon as possible due to the interest from other Premier League teams. Fofana could become Everton's third summer signing after deals for Villarreal forward Thierno Barry and AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper Mark Travers. Carlos Alcaraz has also joined Everton on a permanent deal after a spell on loan from Flamengo last season. More Trending Everton are not done there, though, with the Merseyside club progressing in a move to sign Bayern Munich defender Adam Aznou too. The Toffees are set for a new era in the 2025-26 campaign after moving into their brand new Hill Dickinson Stadium. Everton face a trip to promoted side Leeds United on August 18 in their opening game of the upcoming Premier League season. The Moroccan striker missed the Light Blues' final friendly of the pre-season today against Middlesbrough, amid swirling rumours surrounding his future. Sign up for the Rangers newsletter Sign up 2 Hamza Igamane came on as a sub for Rangers against Panathinaikos on Tuesday Credit: Willie Vass Igamane has been the subject of transfer interest from Lille but as yet the Ligue 1 club have not made an official bid. Martin himself was sent off at half-time against Boro for arguing with the officials but revealed after the game, which ended 2-2, that the 24-year-old was absent because of an injury. Igamane picked up the knock during his substitute appearance in the first leg of the Champions League second round qualifying tie against the Greeks at Ibrox on Tuesday. And Martin is now hoping the forward will be involved when Gers take to the pitch on Wednesday night in Athens. The Ibrox boss said: "He picked up a little bit of an injury on Tuesday night. "He had already missed a lot of pre-season and he's been trying really hard to catch up fitness-wise. "He's got himself into a good place but the other night with the intensity of the game, coming onto that as a sub, it's not easy. "But he's not going to be out for a long time. "He's a strong boy and we hope to have him back on Wednesday night. "We just couldn't risk him today really." Rangers fans unfurl giant tifo ahead of Russell Martin's first match Thelo Aasgaard also sat out today's game after missing the midweek win over the Greeks. Martin is also confident he too can be involved on Wednesday. He said: "We hope to have both, so we're not in a big problem. "It was just so early on to have them back for one game to then risk missing three or four after, or maybe even more.' 2 Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page
