Amajita bounce back at U-20 Afcon with win against Tanzania
Amajita bounced back from their opening defeat at the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations with a clinical 1-0 win against Tanzania at Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia, Egypt on Wednesday.
Coach Raymond Mdaka's U-20s started with a 1-0 loss against hosts Egypt in Cairo on Sunday.
Cape Town City attacker Shakeel April scored the 27th-minute winner that separated the teams.
The result left South Africa in second place in the five-team Group A, with Egypt set to meet Sierra Leone in a later game on Wednesday night.

URC semifinals — Wins for Leinster and the Bulls?
The SA football team are also in action this weekend, in an international friendly. It's another cracker-jack weekend of sport ahead of us, with the two big United Rugby Championship semi-finals the highlight for rugby fans. On the football front, there's not too much on offer, but the South African national team are in action. Here then are our three top picks for the weekend. Rugby Leinster v Glasgow In the first of the weekend's URC semifinals at 3.45pm Saturday, the table-topping Irish giants, Leinster, take on last season's surprise winners, Glasgow Warriors, who finished fourth on the points table this season. Former Bok boss Jacques Nienaber is in charge of Leinster, while former Bok assistant Franco Smith is coach of Glasgow. Both teams have been excellent at times this season, but both have shown vulnerabilities, too. At home, in front of their own fans, it's hard to go against Leinster, who are desperate to win this title. Prediction: Leinster by 15 Bulls v Sharks This semifinal, which kicks off at 6.15pm Saturday, has got all the makings of being a classic. And both sides are stacked with Springbok players who'll want to get the better of their direct opponents. The Bulls have played in two previous finals, so have some URC pressure experience behind them, and they're at home, while the Sharks have tremendous depth, with several big-name players in their ranks. They also won the Challenge Cup title last season, so know what it takes to win when the pressure is on. And, one other thing – in their two previous meetings this season the Sharks beat the Bulls, home and away. Prediction: Bulls by 10 South Africa v Tanzania Hugo Broos' Bafana Bafana have far more important games to deal with in September, when Fifa World Cup qualifying starts again. For now, however, come international friendlies against Tanzania and Mozambique, in which the Bafana head coach will take the opportunity to look at some of his fringe players. First up is Tanzania at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday. Bafana should have too much quality for the East African nation, who strangely also have a Cosafa Cup match against Madagascar to play the following day. Prediction: Bafana 2 Tanzania 0

Khumalo pleasantly surprised as hastily arranged Cosafa squad takes shape
Vela Khumalo, the coach of the Bafana 'B' side that will take part in the 2025 Cosafa Cup in Bloemfontein, was pleasantly surprised at the sharp condition his players arrived in on Monday ahead of their opening game against Mozambique on Wednesday. The Kaizer Chiefs youth coach, who also steered the South African under-17s to their age group Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinal last month and qualification for the U-17 World Cup, will take charge of the Bafana emerging combination at the Cosafa Cup. Khumalo's side that takes the field in their in their Group A opener at Free State Stadium (3pm) could more accurately be called an 'Emerging B'. Bafana coach Hugo Broos is taking charge of the senior team in friendlies against Tanzania and Mozambique's senior side in Polokwane on Friday and next Tuesday with a squad missing his Mamelodi Sundowns contingent and including a host of new faces as he casts his net wide for talent.

PSL transfer news: Witbooi wanted in London; Saleng latest
There's plenty of business happening in the PSL ahead of the upcoming winter window. A flurry of stars is expected to jump ships, including Orlando Pirates winger Monnapule Saleng, who hasn't featured for nearly six months amid a hiatus over salary demands. The 27-year-old's future in Soweto seems all but voided. Still, no external clubs have yet to show interest, presumably waiting on the off chance that the two parties agree to terminate the contract, meaning he would become a free agent. Meanwhile, 16-year-old phenom Emile Witbooi has piqued Chelsea's attention. The London outfit has reportedly invited the youngster for a second assessment, insinuating Enzo Maresca's side to be very interested in the Cape Town City star. Witbooi earned his professional debut for the Mother City side in the second half of this season. He now has three PSL appearances to his name. 'Chelsea have made enquiries if he can go back for further training and assessment,' an inside source revealed. 'It's believed that they are looking at integrating him into their Under-18 team so that he can move through the ranks as he grows. It's believed that they were impressed when he was last there and they have been keeping tabs on his progress and that's why they still need him.' However, an additional source doesn't see a move happening before the Novemeber's U-17 World Cup in Qatar. 'I don't think even if Cape Town City want him to go it could be now or soon as they are still monitoring other interest from Europe as well. They are believed to want to see what will happen at the Under-17 FIFA World Cup in Qatar later this year. Though at the moment Chelsea are in the forefront,' the second insider revealed.
