Air India Express Kolkata-Hindon flight delayed due to snag in aircraft
An Air India Express flight from Uttar Pradesh's Hindon to Kolkata was delayed on Sunday after the aircraft developed a snag.
'Our Kolkata - Hindon flight operated, with a delay, due to a snag on the originally assigned aircraft,' a spokesperson for Air India Express said.
"Guests were offered complimentary rescheduling or cancellation with a full refund. We regret the inconvenience," it added.
The flight – IX 1511 – took from the Kolkata Airport at 2pm after a seven-hour delay. It is expected to land at Hindon airport at around 4.30pm.
The incident comes days after a flight of Air India, the parent company, crashed in Ahmedabad, killing over 270 people.
Air India's London-bound Boeing 787 Dreamliner (AI 171) flight crashed into a medical hostel complex in Ahmedabad's Meghaninagar on June 12, moments after taking off from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
Among those killed were 241 out of 242 passengers and crew on board the aircraft.

The flight was scheduled to fly from Dubai to Jaipur on June 13 at 7:25pm, but due to a technical fault, it could only take off at 12:44am and reached Jaipur at 2:44am. Passengers said while they were suffocating inside the aircraft without air conditioning, many of them were not even provided with drinking water. When contacted, an Air India Express spokesperson told TOI, "We haven't received any update from the Dubai team regarding this issue yet. We are looking into the matter."

A London-Chennai flight of British Airways operated by a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft returned to the airport of origin mid-flight due to a 'technical issue', the airline said. Lufthansa's Frankfurt-Hyderabad flight operated on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner also returned to the airport of origin mid-flight following a bomb threat. 'The aircraft returned to Heathrow as a standard precaution after reports of a technical issue,' British Airways said in a press statement. 'The flight landed safely with crew and customers disembarking as they normally would, and our teams are working hard to get their journeys back on track as soon as possible,' the statement added. As per the data available with Flightradar24, flight BA35 took off from Heathrow Airport at 1.16 p.m. after a 36-minute delay. Data from the website shows that the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner circled over the Strait of Dover multiple times before returning to London's Heathrow Airport. In a separate incident, a Hyderabad-bound Lufthansa aircraft from Frankfurt returned to its base mid-flight following a bomb threat, prompting a full-scale security response. The flight, LH 752, operated by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, departed Frankfurt Airport around 6 p.m. According to flight tracking data, the aircraft had been airborne for nearly two hours and was flying over Bulgarian airspace when it made a U-turn and was diverted back to Frankfurt. The aircraft had been scheduled to arrive at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) at approximately 1.20 a.m. on Monday (June 16, 2025). 'We checked with the airline and it has been confirmed that there was allegedly a bomb threat and that is why it was diverted,' an official at Hyderabad airport told The Hindu.

Air India flight returns to Delhi after captain suspects landing gear issue mid-air
NEW DELHI: Close on the heels of the mishap involving an Air India flight from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, a domestic flight of the airline carrying 168 passengers developed a technical issue immediately after take-off from Delhi to Vadodara on Sunday evening. It had to make an emergency landing at Delhi. According to flight tracking website FlightAware, AI 819, an A321neo, had a delayed departure of 6:51 p.m. from Terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) instead of the scheduled departure of 6:25 p.m. An airline source told this reporter, "The flight had taken off from IGI when the captain suspected an issue with the landing gear within a few minutes of being airborne. As a matter of abundant caution, he decided to return back." The flight returned to IGI by 7:20 p.m. "Multiple safety checks were carried out as soon as it returned. Everything was found to be alright," the source added. Passengers were given the option of rescheduling their journey on other flights at no extra cost or cancelling their tickets. AI 819 is slated to depart to Vadodara on Monday morning.
