Line of Duty's Vicky McClure in huge career change in 'first time ever' moment
Vicky McClure is set for a big career change, it has been revealed. The Line of Duty actress is best known for her career in front of the camera.
However, in a big announcement by band Reverend and the Makers, the star is set to be joining them on a new track. The band took to social media to make the revelation.
Taking to Twitter /X the band excitedly wrote: "ANNOUNCEMENT KLAXON." They then penned: "Absolutely buzzing to announce we have a new single about to drop featuring, on lead vocals for the first time ever, the living legend @Vicky_McClure ' (plus a bit on @jonathanowen71 on bass)
"The video also features another living legend so stay tuned for that. Let's have some love for Vicky the singer eh?"
The band also shared a teaser clip of the tune's video. The song, called Haircut is coming soon and the video showed the actress and lead singer Jon McClure performing to a jubilant crowd.
Vicky reshared the post to her own page and added: "First for everything! No one cooler to do it with! @Reverend_Makers," followed by three red love heart emojis.
Fans were loving the news, with one user commenting: "Is there anything Vicky McClure cant do? Nice to see another McClure join The Makers." Another added: "Proper tunnnnnnne," while a third simply said: "Oh wow."
Vicky's appearance with the band comes as they smashed their Glastonbury set at the weekend. The actress isn't stepping back from the small screen, however, with her latest announcement.
She is also set to star in an upcoming Channel 5 drama titled Insomnia. The new psychological thriller follows Emma (Vicky), who is a successful woman. However, she suffers with sleep deprivation weeks before turning 40.
The Radio Times billed it: "Successful lawyer Emma Averill is terrified that she is destined to suffer the same fate as her mother and experience a violent psychotic breakdown on her 40th birthday as a result of inherited 'bad blood'.
'A couple of weeks before the milestone, Emma stops sleeping and her world begins to unravel, straining her relationship with her husband Robert and children Chloe and Will. As her mental state fractures, Emma resolves to confront her family history to prevent tragedy striking successive generations."
As well as Vicky, the thriller has assembled a cast including Tom Cullen, Leanne Best and Jade Harrison. The drama was initially a Paramount+ series before making its way to Five.
The six-part series is an adaptation of the 2022 novel of the same name. It was wrote by bestselling author Sarah Pinborough. Vicky now features as Executive Producer on the on-screen production.

Woman who livestreamed Kneecap Glastonbury set targeted by online abuse
A woman who livestreamed Kneecap's Glastonbury festival set to 2 million people on TikTok has described the 'obscene' abuse she says has received in the aftermath, including people calling her a Nazi. Helen Wilson, a Swansea-based yoga teacher who also runs the Ground Plant Based Coffee cafe, said she had been sent a lot of personal insults, but that she had received 'hundreds and hundreds times more support than negativity'. It came after she held up her phone in the crowd to stream the set by the Irish rap trio last Saturday, which the BBC refused to show live, over what it said were efforts to ensure it 'meets our editorial guidelines'. The BBC later made an edited version available on iPlayer, though the broadcaster did not respond to the Guardian when asked what had been cut out. Wilson said: 'I just thought, I'm just going to livestream it because the BBC aren't showing it. And I really disagreed with that. I did not think for a moment that over 2 million people would see it.' It was only her second TikTok live stream on her handle HelenWilsonWales – her first, about her weight loss, had no viewers at all – and initially she had not realised how many people were watching because the sun was shining on her phone screen. 'But I could see that when you're doing a live stream, loads of messages pop up and people can talk to you. So the screen was going mental. People were just like ping, ping, ping, ping, ping, ping, ping, ping. 'And I was like: 'Oh, my god, something's happening here,' and so I just knew I had to carry on. People were saying to me: 'Please keep going, do what you can, please keep going.' And then that was it,' said Wilson, who grew up in Somerset and was working at the festival. The stream was spreading through word of mouth, as viewers sent it to their friends and family, and Wilson found out later that at one point it was playing on a big screen in a pub in the band's home town. She told the Guardian: 'I have had a lot of trolling. When you rang, I was just in the middle of deleting some obscene comments off my business Facebook page.' 'There was somebody on Instagram just saying he sent me a message saying: 'You're just a wrinkled old woman looking for attention.'' '[In a tabloid newspaper] I've been referred to as a middle-aged woman. Like, what has that got to do with anything?' said the 44-year-old. She said: 'This is about the genocide in Palestine, and this is about the failure of our government to act, to do anything about it.' Wilson added: 'More people need to know what is going on in Palestine. And we shouldn't be censoring bands under freedom of speech, full stop. We shouldn't be censoring anybody who is trying to raise awareness of the atrocities that are taking place.' Afterwards, Kneecap called her a 'legend' and offered her free tickets to any of their shows. On Saturday, while supporting Fontaines DC in Finsbury Park, the band once again led 45,000 people in chants of 'fuck Keir Starmer'. The band were far from alone in their sentiments at Glastonbury – dozens of acts and figures at the festival spoke out in support of Palestine, including CMAT, the Libertines, Gary Lineker, Joy Crookes, TV on the Radio, Sorry and Paloma Faith. Kneecap were also backed by Emily and Michael Eavis, the festival's organisers, with Emily telling the BBC that 'everyone is welcome', before their set.

Ozzy Osbourne fans divided over his 'sad' final performance with Black Sabbath
Ozzy Osbourne, aged 76, performed while seated on a throne at Villa Park in Birmingham on Saturday. Rock superstar Ozzy Osbourne bid farewell to fans with a Black Sabbath reunion in his final ever live performance - but fans were split over his last time gracing the stage. At 76, Ozzy took to the stage in Birmingham on a throne for five songs during Black Sabbath's Back to the Beginning farewell gig in his hometown on Saturday, July 5. Osbourne and his fellow original Black Sabbath members – Tony Iommi, Terence 'Geezer' Butler and Bill Ward – were the last to appear on stage as part of a star-studded line-up for the Back to the Beginning concert. Among the bands performing were Anthrax, Metallica and Guns N'Roses, and there were messages of thanks from other celebrities, including Jack Black, Ricky Gervais and Dolly Parton. However, some spectators, both in the audience and watching the live stream, felt uncomfortable seeing their hero perform amidst his health struggles. On X, previously Twitter, one fan posted: "Feel a bit sorry for Ozzy being wheeled out like that. He clearly isn't fit and well." Another reflected: "I feel bad for Ozzy. Yeah it's his last ever live show but it's kind of gross how a visibly unwell man is being wheeled out like this by Sharon," while a third commented: "Very sad, Ozzy in a goth wheelchair." The rocker, donning his signature black attire and thick eye makeup, sang five songs in his own set before re-entering the stage after a break to join the rest of Black Sabbath for the first time in 20 years in a special reunion. The band performed some of their greatest hits, ending with a rendition of Paranoid for the ultimate send-off. Fans chanted 'Ozzy, Ozzy, Ozzy' as the rock legend thanked and blew kisses to those in attendance. He then departed in an emotional ending to cap off an illustrious career on stage. Over the weekend, the founding members of the heavy metal legends were honoured for their contribution to Birmingham's cultural and musical heritage, as well as their role as heavy metal trailblazers. Ozzy revealed whilst accepting the accolade that the reunion gig was his wife Sharon's brainchild. The band secured their place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006 and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019. During the freedom of the city ceremony, Osbourne reflected: "I first put an advert in a music store in town. If these guys hadn't come to my door, I wouldn't be sitting here now. It seems to have flown by so quickly. It's amazing. "I think about my dad, who went into debt to buy me a microphone. If only he could be here now. I think he would be very proud. I'm a Brummie and I always will be a Brummie. Birmingham forever!" Osbourne, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2019, plans to continue to record music, but said that the concert marked the end for him performing live.
