Filmmaker
Ram Gopal Varma
extended his support to
Kamal Haasan
amid the controversy surrounding Haasan's recent remark about Tamil and Kannada during the promotion of his upcoming movie 'Thug Life', which created chaos in Karnataka.
Ram Gopal Varma's social media post
The remark sparked protests and calls for a boycott in Karnataka, with pro-Kannada groups expressing outrage against the film. Ram Gopal Varma has now deleted his social media post without offering any clarification.
Earlier today (June 2), Ram Gopal Varma criticised those who were campaigning against
Kamal
Haasan and Thug Life. In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, he wrote: 'DEMOCRACY's new name is INTOLERANCE...
irrespective of factual correctness, threats to ban Thug Life in Karnataka unless Kamal Haasan apologises amount to a new kind of HOOLIGANISM.'
However, the post has since been deleted or removed. The reason behind the filmmaker's decision to delete the post supporting Kamal remains unknown.

The comment triggered strong reactions in Karnataka, with some groups burning his pictures and demanding a public apology from the actor.
Haasan stood firm, stating: 'Love will never apologise. I will apologise only if I am wrong. If I am not, I will not.'
In an interview with PTI, Kamal Haasan said that debates on language origins should be left to historians and experts. He explained that perspectives differ based on regional viewpoints and emphasised that his remarks were not intended as an answer but as an explanation.
The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce stepped in to halt the release of Thug Life in the state. Haasan has since approached the Karnataka High Court, seeking legal clearance for the film's release.

Shruti Haasan On Singing For Dad Kamal Haasan's Thug Life: 'How Many Daughters Can...'

'I've been singing for a long time in my life, and people have liked my songs, but it's never really gotten a reaction like this. Even people who don't like me pinged me, I don't know how many daughters can sing for their dad like this. I never take this for granted," Shruti says. 'Usually, when I go for a song, I get it in the studio and work on it there only. But because sir (Rahman) was kind enough to send it to me a few days before so that I could work on it with my piano, it was really helpful," she adds. Performed live by Shruti at Thug Life's grand audio launch recently, the song has resonated deeply with audiences and critics. It represents a heartfelt blend of artistry and family legacy, elevated by Rahman's music and Ratnam's direction. For Shruti, it's a moment of deep emotional importance, both as a performer and as Kamal Haasan's daughter. Meghan Markle marks Lilibet's birthday with a never-seen before picture

Source: Instagram/@meghan Four years after she came into the world, Princess Lilibet has made a rare appearance—this time through two tender black-and-white photographs shared by her mother, Meghan Markle . The Duchess of Sussex marked Lilibet's birthday on June 4 with a heartfelt tribute, offering followers a quiet, intimate glimpse into their lives far from royal duty and public spectacle. 'Happy birthday to our beautiful girl,' Meghan wrote in her Instagram post. 'Four years ago today she came into our lives — and each day is brighter and better because of it. Thanks to all of those sending love and celebrating her special day!' View this post on Instagram A post shared by ColorsTV (@colorstv) The post featured two never-before-seen images: one from Lilibet's early days, with Meghan cradling her newborn daughter, and another more recent photo of the two sitting close together on a boat by the ocean. Lilibet's red hair—something she shares with her brother Archie and inherited from Prince Harry's side—catches the light, a quiet reminder of her lineage. Princess Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor was born at 11:40 a.m. on June 4, 2021, in Santa Barbara, California, and weighed 7 lbs 11 oz. Her name is a nod to both sides of Harry's family: 'Lilibet' was Queen Elizabeth II's personal childhood nickname, while 'Diana' pays tribute to Harry's late mother, the Princess of Wales. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trade Bitcoin & Ethereum – No Wallet Needed! Lilibet, who is now seventh in line to the throne, had reportedly met the Queen before her death in 2022, though no official photo was taken. Speaking to People earlier this year, Meghan reflected on building her lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard and how her daughter inspires her. 'This is something I can create in front of my daughter and teach her what it's like to be a working mom,' she said. 'Hopefully, it can be part of her legacy too.' For her birthday, the Sussexes are said to have celebrated with a low-key gathering at their Montecito home—another quiet milestone in a life that's being shaped gently, on their terms.
