High-end hair salon targeted by offenders with axe in repeated attacks
Police are investigating alleged arson and break-in attempts at a luxury salon that has been the centre of multiple late-night attacks. The salon, on Burwood Road, Burwood in Sydney's inner west, was the target of alleged attacks on July 2 and July 5. On the first night, a man wearing black pants and a black hooded jumper was seen on CCTV pouring an accelerant throughout the salon, police said. A report was made to investigators when several men were seen attempting to gain access to the salon, police said. The accelerant was not lit, and there was no damage to the salon. Just three days later, CCTV showed two men parking a black Subaru Forrester with suspected stolen plates near the salon. They walked towards the shop, armed with an axe, footage showed. Police said the men attempted to gain access to the salon, but were disturbed before getting inside. One man has been arrested in connection to the alleged arson attempt, and his case remains before the courts. Police are appealing for information from the public as the investigation continues. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or Information is managed on a confidential basis.
