Veteran photographer RT Chawla reveals younger Kareena Kapoor ‘guided' elder sister Karisma during her early career: ‘Mom Babita was also there, but…'

Bollywood stars and siblings Kareena Kapoor and Karisma Kapoor have never shied away from expressing their deep love for each other. Not only do they share a warm and compassionate bond, but they've also been each other's biggest cheerleaders since childhood. Recently, legendary Bollywood photographer RT Chawla shared an interesting anecdote from the Kapoor sisters' younger days, back when Karisma had just started out and Kareena was yet to make her debut. He revealed that, despite being younger, Kareena often guided her elder sister, particularly in matters related to work. This highlighted Bebo's natural flair and hinted at the star actor she would one day become.
Mentioning that he shares a very strong bond with Karisma, Chawla called her the female actor he has photographed the most. Recalling how Karisma always invited him to accompany her on shoots, he said that she introduced him as her 'friend' on sets where people didn't know him well, ensuring he was treated with warmth and respect.
'Initially, her mother (retired actor Babita) used to always come along with Karisma to movie sets. But it wasn't Babita who guided her, but little Kareena, although she was younger. Whenever she returned after giving a shot, Karisma would always ask Kareena if she did well. And Kareena (if she didn't like her performance) would say, 'No, it wasn't good. Do it this way,'' he said, mimicking Kareena's hand gestures suggesting a different approach. 'Kareena guided Karisma back then when she was young,' he shared during a chat with actor Aartii Naagpal on her YouTube show Chitt Ki Baat.
Meanwhile, this sparked a memory for Aartii Naagpal, who recalled working on director Iqbal Durrani's Khuddar (1994), which featured Govinda, Karisma Kapoor and Kader Khan in key roles. Aartii, who played Govinda's sister in the film, said, 'We were shooting for Khuddar in Chennai. We had a one-month schedule there, and the shoot mostly happened outdoors. I clearly remember Babita ji being on set, sitting and reading a book. Meanwhile, Kareena would be there too, watching the monitor. She must have been in Class 10 back then. There was a noticeable age gap between them, right? Karisma and I were very young ourselves, but Kareena was even younger. I always thought Babita ji was the one guiding Karisma. But now that you mention it, I realise it was Kareena! I remember Karisma running to Kareena after her shots to get feedback. She was the one offering all the advice,' Aartii shared, adding that Kareena has grown up to be a very talented and accomplished actor.

Meet Lillian Droniak, who is rocking the social media even at the age of 95

In the fast-paced world where social media trends have left even youngsters puzzled, an extraordinary woman, named Lillian Droniak, is proving that age is no barrier when it comes to popularity. At 95, Droniak does not shy away from sharing videos on platforms like Instagram and TikTok, where she has amassed millions of followers in recent years. Through her unique content, Droniak has made a name for herself as a social media influencer. At present, she is followed by nearly 15 million people on TikTok as well as 3.6 million followers on Instagram. Her husband, John, died more than two decades ago. She describes herself as a "fashion model" in her Instagram bio, adding, "I'm a celebrity and a 95 year old grandma. Yes I can be your grandma too". A September 2022 article from The Guardian states that it was actually her grandson Kevin's idea to start the channel on TikTok. This came to his mind one day when they were sitting in the kitchen, and he suddenly started filming her chatting with others. Droniak shared that the video, which was "meant to be a joke", made her an overnight star as it got more than a million views in quick time. Prior to this, Kevin had made videos with her for a few years that were later shared on YouTube. Once she became well-known on TikTok, Droniak stated that he later shared doing "all sorts of weird things: dancing on the porch, dishing out advice, saying stupid things". Although she prepares well in advance to say or do various things in her videos, Droniak said she "mostly" tries to be herself in them. "Apparently, everyone thinks this little old lady is hysterical," The Guardian quoted her as saying. Recently, she shared a video on Instagram, joking that a man hit on her and she "cannot believe it". "Us girls will get hit on by strange men even at 95," she wrote in the caption. Droniak earlier shared with The Guardian that social media popularity was "quite a surprise" for her, since she was "the quiet kid at school". She later worked in a factory and then started raising her children after marriage. "I was never really the funny one... Making people laugh wasn't my area," she added. Before the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world, Droniak used to take part in senior events, visit church, play bingo and do other things. But during the lockdown, she stayed at home and kept herself entertained by making videos. "...I realised making these videos makes me feel younger, too... I don't know why I'm living so long to be honest with you," she quipped. She is all set to complete 20 million followers on TikTok and Instagram combined. Her husband, John, died more than two decades ago.
