John Stamos defends appearance at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort
John Stamos is defending his recent appearance at a charity event held at President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida.
The 61-year-old 'Full House' alum said his role of emcee at the Palm Beach Ray of Hope Gala on Saturday was not tied to any political affiliation, but was instead 'dedicated to honoring and uplifting our frontline heroes.'
The sold-out 'Dancing with the Stars'-themed event was a 'nonpartisan' benefit for The Academy for Nursing and Health Occupations, Stamos wrote on Instagram Monday. He described the academy as a nonprofit organization that trains up to 400 nurses each year to address the shortage of healthcare workers in Palm Beach County.
Even though the gala was co-chaired by Linda Adelson and Janet Levy, both of whom share ties to Trump, Stamos underscored that 'supporting nurses isn't political — it's essential.'
'These are the people who care for us and our families when we need it most, and I believe we should show up for them with the same unwavering dedication they show up with every single day,' he continued. 'I stand by the importance of healthcare, of service, and of investing in those who care for our communities.'
Stamos, who has reportedly supported Democratic policies in the past, added that his 'values and political views remain unchanged,' while encouraging followers to contribute to the liberal organization Democracy Forward if they prefer not to give to Palm Beach Ray of Hope.

'I was like, 'Oh boy, I guess I better [tell him].' I said, 'Mike, your cousin passed away,' and his face went blank.' The 'Full House' actor added, 'We sat in the car for 2½ hours or so … he didn't say one word. And I didn't ask him anything, ask him how he was feeling. I knew how he was feeling.' Stamos reflected on the connection between the two original Beach Boys members: You know, they had 80-plus years together. They made beautiful music together.' Love co-founded the band with his cousins Brian, Dennis, and Carl Wilson, and friend Al Jardine in 1961. Brian was also a lead singer, but he left the iconic California band in 1964. He briefly returned in the '80s. Stamos first played with the Beach Boys at a Fourth of July concert at the Washington Monument in 1985. 'This July 4th will be 40 years of nagging them and stalking them,' he told the Post. The actor said he was lucky to have 'spent a good amount of time' with Wilson, recalling the time when the late music legend stepped in for Love. 'We were doing some shows in Montreal, I was with them, and Mike couldn't make about five shows,' he said. 'And so Brian came out, and he's the lead singer of the band … and it was great.' Democratic political strategist David Axelrod on Friday condemned changes Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. made to a key vaccine advisory committee. Kennedy earlier this week fired all 17 members of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and replaced them with eight of his own picks, a significant downsizing for the independent, expert panel that provides guidance on vaccine recommendations. Some of the eight are known for spreading vaccine misinformation. 'This is a genuine catastrophe in the making,' Axelrod said in a post on the social platform X. 'Vaccines have eradicated diseases that ravaged mankind since the beginning of recorded history. Now one twisted ideologue in a position of power threatens to take us backward. God help us all!' he added. Kennedy has lauded the new ACIP appointees as a team of educated and capable advisers. 'The slate includes highly credentialed scientists, leading public-health experts, and some of America's most accomplished physicians. All of these individuals are committed to evidence-based medicine, gold-standard science, and common sense,' he wrote in a post on X. The new members are set to meet June 25 to discuss the COVID-19 vaccine in addition to reviewing safety and efficacy data for the current immunization schedule. Kennedy has frequently promoted vaccine misinformation prior to taking on his Cabinet role and recently ended the CDC's recommendation that pregnant people and healthy children receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Critics have railed against the secretary for rushing to usher in a new standard for vaccines post-pandemic amid a nationwide measles outbreak. 'These actions collectively restrict access to a vital tool for saving lives and undermine confidence in our health systems,' former Surgeon General Jerome Adams, who served in the Trump administration from 2017-21, wrote in an op-ed published by Time. 'The major flaw in the new vaccine framework is its narrow assessment of risk. Although the immediate dangers of COVID-19 have lessened, it remains a leading cause of death and hospitalization, claiming nearly 50,000 lives in the U.S. in 2024 — more than breast cancer or car accidents,' he added. Kennedy himself said his views on vaccines were 'irrelevant' while testifying at a House Appropriations Committee hearing on May 14. 'I don't want to seem like I'm being evasive, but I don't think people should be taking medical advice from me,' he told lawmakers, after being asked whether he would vaccinate his own children today against measles. On June 13, TMZ reported that Antonio Brown, who competed on season 22 of DWTS with Sharna Burgess, was wanted by the authorities in Miami-Dade County, Florida. According to TMZ, they were told by law enforcement that Brown has a warrant out for his arrest. The potential charge is for attempted murder, and the warrant is tied to an alleged incident that took place in Florida in May. On June 12, The Washington Post reported that they reviewed the warrant issued in Florida. The warrant contains an attempted murder with a firearm charge, which would require a bond of $10,000 from the former NFL pro. Brown would also be placed under house arrest until the trial takes place. The charge comes after Brown was allegedly involved in a shooting that took place in Miami during a celebrity boxing match. ESPN reports that police detained Brown after the event for several hours. Video shared by TMZ showed Brown running just before gunshots were heard. The media outlet noted that it appeared Brown carried a gun in one hand as he ran. In addition, The Washington Post reports that authorities met with an alleged unnamed victim who was at the boxing event. The media outlet claims that Brown fired gunshots at him after the two had a physical fight. The victim's statement, TMZ reported, prompted the arrest warrant. Shortly after the incident initially happened, Brown posted a statement on the social media site X, formerly Twitter. On May 17, he wrote, "Regarding the boxing event that happened last night. I was jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me." Brown continued, "Police temporarily detained me until they received my side of the story and then released me. I WENT HOME THAT NIGHT AND WAS NOT ARRESTED." He added, "I will be talking to my legal council and attorneys on pressing charges on the individuals that jumped me. I will keep you all posted step-by-step on the process. Thank you for the support and love." Brown competed on season 22 of Dancing with the Stars, which premiered in March 2016. Brown and Burgess made it to week 9 of the competition, the semifinals, before their elimination. The finals for season 22 included Ginger Zee and Val Chmerkovskiy, Nyle DeMarco and Peta Murgatroyd, along with Paige VanZant and Mark Ballas. The Mirrorball trophy went to DeMarco and Murgatroyd. Parade reached out to Brown's team for comment.
