Emmerdale's beloved Sian Reese-Williams looks quite different a dozen years on from her character Gennie Walker's dramatic demise.
Welsh actress Sian rose to prominence portraying Gennie in the ITV soap, joining the cast in 2008. Gennie arrived in the Dales as Brenda Walker's (Lesley Dunlop) adoptive daughter.

She quickly became a hit with viewers. Gennie was central to numerous major plots, including a string of unsuccessful romances before finding happiness with Nikhil Sharma (Rik Makarem).

Tragically, in 2013, Gennie met her end when killer Cameron Murray (Dominic Power) killed her to hide his previous murder of Carl King (Tom Lister).

Post-Emmerdale, Sian has been a regular on our screens, featuring in Netflix's Requiem and Holby City, as well as playing Sgt. Jane Cafferty in BBC's Line of Duty, reports Belfast Live.

In 2024, Sian unveiled her new artistic endeavour as a potter. She shared on X: "Hello. I make pottery now. I'll be selling these from next Friday so if you fancy a one-off piece of loveliness to brighten your January, head over to my insta."
Sian also graced the Celebrity Side Hustles podcast in May, hosted by her ex-Emmerdale colleagues Roxy Shahidi and Matthew Wolfenden.

Discussing her foray into pottery, Sian disclosed: "As I was finishing series three of Hidden [a Welsh television drama that aired from 2018 to 2021], I knew it was going to be a real loss in my life.
"Because A.) as an actor to have something that is even remotely constant is such a luxury and you just want to hold on to it and B.) I was proud of the show and loved it, and I'd had quite a rough few years, like life, it had been hard."
After discovering a six-week pottery course in Cardiff, Sian decided to give it a go and found herself "completely obsessed" with the craft.

"I just wanted something to have in the diary, because I hadn't cracked that downtime thing," she explained.
Sian went on to say: "I've been really lucky in that for a long time I've been able to live on my acting work, but there are some years that's only just happening but there are other years where it's a bit nicer.

"And that is wonderful, but it also means you have huge amounts of time on your hands when you're not working and it can be six months, a year, who knows?".

Discussing how she utilised her free time, Sian mentioned: "I'd spent like a year out of work therefore that meant I spent every day of the year learning pottery and making it and I got quite good at it."

This new venture turned out to be a positive move. She remarked: "So over the last year I've been working towards making it a business. It's a learning curve but it's so nice to have something else I'm passionate about."
The soap actress has even begun to profit from her newfound pottery skills. She revealed: "I do little markets and I've started making things for restaurants, because I love food and I love boogie restaurants."
Moreover, in addition to her new career, Sian also appears completely transformed. Her Emmerdale character was recognised for her glossy and sleek bob.

However, she now sports a different hairstyle - with Sian flaunting longer and wavy tresses that are a much lighter shade of brown.
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm

His colleague and friend Mike Graham read an obituary on air and paid tribute to Whale, who had been battling stage four kidney cancer. Whale was first diagnosed with cancer back in 2000 and had to have one of his kidneys removed. Then, in 2020, the TalkTV host revealed that the cancer had returned in his kidney, spine, brain and lungs. Graham said: 'James began his remarkable career in the early 1970s when he pioneered a new kind of radio in Britain, the late-night shock jock phone-in. In 2024, James was awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours, recognising his extraordinary contribution to broadcast and charity. 'James Whale broke the rules, he shaped the airwaves and did it all on his own terms. For millions, James wasn't just a broadcaster. He was a companion, a provocateur and a good friend that we'll all never forget. God bless you, James. We'll miss you.' Whale's wife Nadine Lamont-Brown said in a statement: 'It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of my darling husband, James Whale, who died peacefully this morning with a smile on his face, holding my hand.' TalkTV host and political pundit Julia Hartley-Brewer paid tribute in a social media post and said: 'So sad that my amazing, wonderful @TalkTV colleague James Whale has died. I supported The Holiday reboot - but they've massively screwed up

TV reboots aren't inherently evil. There, I've said it. I'm not denying that there are some absolute stinkers out there (the Frasier revival flop immediately springs to mind). But when done right, a reboot can be the perfect way of honouring the original and bridging the gap between generations. It's been almost 20 years since The Holiday was released and immediately became an annual festive classic among us hopeless romantics. Who can resist Jude Law's Mr Napkin Head, or Kate Winslet's rousing speech about becoming the leading lady of her own life? When I first heard about the reported TV reboot, I was hopeful. 'Why wouldn't it work?' I figured. There's no reason why the format of the story couldn't be repurposed with new characters, as they swap homes with someone on the other side of the world and embark on journeys of self-discovery. But then, I saw the news that made my heart sink. Nancy Meyers – the film virtuoso who not only wrote The Holiday, but also directed and co-produced it – isn't involved in the upcoming TV spin-off and claims she had absolutely no idea that it was even happening. My jaw fell to the ground. How could they even consider bringing The Holiday back without Meyers, the beating heart of the movie, without whom it wouldn't exist? Following the announcement of the TV reboot – which Deadline reports is being made by producers at Apple TV Plus – the filmmaker wrote on her Instagram Story: 'News to me. Imagine my surprise when I opened Instagram and this was the first post I saw.' Even if the bosses behind the remake had bafflingly decided not to involve her in the new production, to not even inform her that it was happening is shocking if true. I've spent my whole life inhaling Meyers' work. Before The Holiday, I grew up obsessively trying to learn The Parent Trap handshake and wishing I could be as cool a bride as Anne Banks in Father of the Bride, complete with her bedazzled trainers under her gown. There's a fine art to creating a TV reboot that both honours the original story on which it's based, and brings something new to audiences – and these three did just that. Cobra Kai has gone down as one of the most beloved Netflix shows ever, an offshoot from The Karate Kid franchise that brought back legendary rivals Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence decades after the original film. Disney Plus' period drama Shōgun was hailed a TV triumph when it premiered last year, over four decades after the book was adapted into a series starring Richard Chamberlain. Last year, Eddie Redmayne unleashed his sinister side playing the titular assassin in The Day of the Jackal – a role previously played by Edward Fox in 1973 – in a performance that viewers hailed as horrifyingly brilliant. There are admittedly too many reboots left, right and centre – but they don't have to be the enemy, especially when they deliver astounding TV. I remember going to watch The Holiday with my friends when I was 12 years old, rushing to the cinema straight after school in our uniform, gorging on popcorn as the twinkling piano keys of Hans Zimmer's Maestro began playing in the opening scene. Just a couple of years ago, two of my closest friends and I went to watch The Holiday In Concert at The Hammersmith Apollo, and the cheers that erupted from the women in the audience as Iris finally dumped her toxic ex Jasper once and for all made my heart sing. It might have been the prosecco we were sipping that made the scene bring a tear to my eye, but let's not downplay Meyers' writing. In a light-hearted romantic comedy, she created a cinematic heroine – with gallons of gumption – who I've truly looked up to for 19 years. After being made to feel as small as humanly possible, she discovers her self-worth and has the strength to step away from a soul-sucking relationship. To this day, I'm sure many women can see themselves in Iris when they find the courage to put themselves first. So a reboot could have been a perfect confidence booster for the next generation of women. However, taking The Holiday and spinning it into a limited series should not be done without Meyers' magical touch. I have no doubt that those in charge of the reboot are hugely talented in their own right. But will they be able to emulate Meyers' signature charm, her flair that makes you instantly recognise when her pen is behind the script? I don't think so. In December last year, Mr Napkin Head himself Law addressed the possibility of a sequel to The Holiday, telling 'Of course, that conversation comes up, 'Is there an idea?' But that all lands in Nancy Meyers' lap. More Trending 'She's pretty meticulous. So she would only do it if it was a really robust idea and then it would be whether the four of us would come back. I would be curious to see what they're all doing.' This was in reference to the original four leads returning to reprise their roles in a sequel, rather than a reboot with new characters. Nonetheless, the message is clear. No Meyers? No fairytale ending. Metro has contacted Apple TV Plus for comment. Got a story? Upon arriving at the "studio" on that day in 2017, she was driven to a remote warehouse in Truin by Lukasz Herba. Herba was a 30-year-old comuter programmer from Oldbury, West Midlands, who held Chloe hostage for a week. He was eventually arrested and jailed for his crime. However, in a new documentary, Chloe revealed that the horror from the kidnapping "never ends". Despite Herba being jailed for kidnapping her, the model revealed that she still faces backlash online for speaking out about his crime. Some trolls even accused her of making the entire story up. Chloe said: "It is always people who don't know the facts, they judge too quickly and jump in before knowing the full story. "You can never get offended by it really because they don't know." The star later appeared on Lorraine to promote the documentary, where she opened up more about how the doubters made her feel. She said: "I thought it would be easy, I am really not good at talking about my feelings. "I had to relive it again and I got emotional about things I hadn't before." On the ITV chat show, she also spoke about how she responded to the backlash. Chloe said: "I was constantly having to talk about his crazy decisions as if they were my own. "It was my calmness that saved me." More to follow...
