Samantha Ruth Prabhu and other celebrities share warm Janmashtami wishes on social media, spreading festive cheer.
On the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami, observed today, August 16, many celebrities, including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Madhuri Dixit Nene and Esha Deol extended festive greetings to their fans on social media. Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu also joined them in sharing her warm wishes.
Samantha posted an adorable picture of little Lord Krishna along with a caption that read, 'Wishing you love, laughter, and little Krishna vibes today! Happy Janmashtami!" Her message was filled with warmth and positivity, spreading festive cheer among her admirers.
The Story of Krishna's Birth
According to Hindu mythology, Lord Krishna was born in a prison cell in Mathura to Devaki and Vasudeva. His birth took place under the tyrannical rule of King Kansa, Devaki's brother, who had imprisoned the couple out of fear of a prophecy that Devaki's eighth son would end his reign.
Krishna's arrival is considered a turning point in mythology, symbolising the victory of good over evil and the restoration of dharma (righteousness). This divine birth is celebrated annually as Janmashtami, which is also known by other names such as Krishnashtami, Gokulashtami, Ashtami Rohini, Srikrishna Jayanti and Sree Jayanthi.
On Janmashtami, devotees observe several traditional practices to honour the birth of Lord Krishna. Many people keep fasts throughout the day, breaking them only at midnight, the believed time of Krishna's birth. Devotees also bathe and dress Krishna idols in new clothes and ornaments, decorate homes with flowers and rangolis and offer prayers for the well-being of their families. In many places, Krishna's childhood antics are celebrated through enactments like Rasleela and the Dahi Handi tradition, which symbolise his mischievous yet divine nature.
The festival also honours Krishna's many divine acts, from his playful childhood adventures to his role as the guiding force in the Mahabharata, where his counsel to Arjuna remains one of the most profound spiritual dialogues in history.
Samantha's Upcoming Projects
Apart from sharing festive wishes, Samantha Ruth Prabhu is currently working on several exciting projects. She will be seen in the upcoming action-fantasy series Rakt Brahmand: The Bloody Kingdom, produced by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK for Netflix. The series also stars Aditya Roy Kapur, Ali Fazal, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Jaideep Ahlawat in key roles.
Additionally, Samantha is gearing up for her action thriller film Maa Inti Bangaram, which she is also co-producing. Recently, she launched her own production company, Tralala Moving Pictures, under which she released her first film, Subham, in May this year.

Are Stranger Things creators leaving Netflix? What we know so far

After creating one of Netflix's most successful series, Stranger Things, Matt and Ross Duffer are reportedly signing an exclusive deal with Paramount. This move would reunite them with former Netflix executives who now hold key positions at Paramount. On Friday evening, Puck's Matthew Belloni, posted on X (formerly twitter) that the Duffers had 'made their choice' and they are leaving Netflix for Paramount. He further added that the theatrical film component of Netflix was the dealbreaker for the creators. Previously, several Hollywood publications, including IMDb reported that the Duffer brothers who created Stranger Things and also wrote and directed many of its episodes were in talks to sign an exclusive deal with Paramount. If the deal is finalized, the Duffer brothers will be reunited with Cindy Holland, Paramount's new head of streaming, who originally approved 'Stranger Things' at Netflix. They would also work with Josh Greenstein and Dana Goldberg, who oversee creative projects for films and series at Paramount, IMDb said. The creators' absence will not be immediately noticeable at Netflix, which is set to release the final season of Stranger Things in three parts later this year. The Duffer brothers also have two new shows lined up for launch in 2026. In addition, the Stranger Things franchise is expanding, with a prequel playing on Broadway, an animated series in the works, and a live-action spinoff currently under development. The budget of Stranger Things has also grown significantly as it gained traction among Netflix watchers. The Season 4 reportedly costed a whooping $30 million per episode, according to Yahoo Finance. As per Tudum by Netflix, Stranger Things is currently ranked among the top 10 most watched shows of all time globally.

Rajesh Khanna Didn't Know What Income Tax Was, Says Anita Advani. 'How Many Zeros Should I Put'

Last Updated: Anita Advani recalls Rajesh Khanna's secret marriage with her and the day he fought over a Rs 45 lakh tax notice. Late superstar Rajesh Khanna's personal life has always sparked headlines – from his whirlwind wedding with Dimple Kapadia to his affair with Anita Advani. Now, Anita has opened up about her time with the actor, recalling a tense moment when he was slapped with a huge income tax notice and their private marriage that never made it to the public eye. 'Rajesh Khanna's House Was Never Sealed' Rumours once claimed Khanna's bungalow had been locked by authorities during his financial troubles. Anita dismissed it, saying, 'I had heard people say that Rajesh Khanna's house was sealed and he used to live in his office. This is absolutely wrong; he never lived in his office. The house was never sealed. There was a problem in the Income Tax in 1991." Rs 45 Lakh Shock According to her, the actor had little idea about paperwork or taxes. 'He never used to see the documents and he didn't know what income tax was. Whatever his team would tell him to give, he would give that amount. If he was asked to give one lakh, he would call his CA to ask 'how many zeros should I put.' Then tax became overdue and he or his team did not pay attention to it. He didn't even know that. He didn't know anything about chartered accountancy, and suddenly, he was asked to pay Rs 45 lakh." Anita added that Khanna personally went to confront an officer after receiving the notice. 'Then he got into an argument with an income tax officer. He went to personally meet him. The officer threatened him that he will seal his house and also thwart the release of his film." She said the dues were eventually cleared and the house was safe. Rajesh Khanna Secret Marriage Away from financial drama, Anita also addressed her relationship with the superstar. She revealed, 'We got married privately, but in the film industry, no one talks about such things openly. Everyone says 'we're friends' or 'we're in a relationship' or something else. But it was already reported in the media that I was with him, so neither of us felt the need to go and publicly announce that we were married. We never felt that need."
