The royal couple and their daughters, Princess Leonor, 19, and Princess Sofia, 18, are said to be vacationing in southern Greece. HOLA! reported that the Spanish royal family's Falcon aircraft flew from Spain to Athens last week, hinting at a royal getaway.
It's thought that the foursome may be staying at a residence owned by King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands. The private property in the Peloponnese region includes a tennis court, a swimming pool, a private beach and an exclusive harbour — perfect for the Spanish King, who loves to sail.
Prior to their Greek getaway, the royal family spent time in Mallorca, their traditional summer holiday destination. They hosted a dinner at the Marivent Palace in Palma de Mallorca and attended an exhibition by the artist Joan Miro in La Lonja.
However, Andrea Caamano, HELLO!'s Digital Content Director reported that King Felipe, Queen Letizia and their daughters were then looking for a more private getaway, as Mallorca is "very open to the media and the public."
"Their vacation in Greece is their real time away from the spotlight, it's ultra-private and where the royals can truly disconnect. They have a warm relationship with the Dutch royals, and have previously stayed at King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima's Greek abode, so it's no surprise that they have chosen to travel there again this year," Caamano said.

The two royal families share several special connections. King Felipe's mother, Queen Sofia, was born in Athens as Princess Sofia of Greece and Denmark. She renounced her Greek titles when she converted to Catholicism to marry then-Infante Juan Carlos of Spain in 1962.
Additionally, the Spanish royal family helped host King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima's eldest daughter, Princess Catharina-Amalia, 21, when she studied abroad for a year in Madrid after receiving kidnapping threats at the University of Amsterdam in 2022.
Last year, the Dutch King shared his gratitude towards the Spanish royal family for helping his daughter and heir maintain her studies during the tumultuous time.
"This was made possible by the kind efforts of many of your compatriots and yourselves. A touching demonstration of friendship at a difficult time. I'd like to express my heartfelt thanks to you and everyone else who helped arrange this," he said during a banquet welcoming the Spanish King and Queen on an official visit.
The summer break comes as Princess Leonor is currently in the midst of a three-year military training program as she prepares to follow in her father's footsteps.
On July 16, during a ceremony at Escuela Naval in Pontevedra, Spain, the King promoted his daughter to the rank of Midshipman of 2nd grade and awarded her the Grand Cross of Naval Merit.
Befitting her status as the future commander of Spain's armed forces, the Princess of Asturias wore a white naval uniform for the ceremony, standing side-by-side with her father.
Next up, Leonor will complete her third and final year of training at the Air Force Academy in San Javier, Murcia.

Post-Brexit chaos as EU citizens living in Britain wrongly barred from UK
EU citizens waiting for the government to decide their pre-Brexit residency status have been wrongly refused entry to the UK, forcing them to give up their lives here. The Independent Monitoring Authority for Citizens' Rights Agreements (IMA) has expressed 'serious concerns' after individuals who left to go on holiday or visit family were barred from entering Britain on their return. Among those affected was a 34-year-old Spanish woman who was removed from the UK despite showing Home Office documents which proved her right to live and work in the UK. She had flown to Spain to see her sister and her new baby at Christmas, The Guardian reported. Another EU citizen, Greek Cypriot Costa Koushiappis, was forcibly removed after taking a short trip to Amsterdam in November, the paper said. The IMA has now written to the Home Office, warning that those waiting for a decision on their residency should not be removed if they make short trips overseas, including for business or leisure. It is advised that those who hold a valid 'certificate of application' (CoA) from the Home Office show it to Border Force officials at airports or ports to prove they are allowed to travel. Miranda Biddle, chief executive of the IMA, said: 'Our position is that a citizen with a valid certificate of application has a right to exit and enter the UK while waiting for a decision on their EU settlement scheme application, subject to providing additional documentation required at the border.' She said she was 'keen to continue to work with the government' to 'ensure citizens are not discouraged from exercising their rights'. The group has called on the Home Office to clarify the CoA rules before a new system requiring visitors to the UK to have 'electronic travel authorisations' (ETAs) is enforced. Campaign group the3million said it was 'very disappointed' that the IMA had agreed with Border Force's approach of asking EU citizens to carry documents to prove their residence before Brexit took effect on 31 December 2020. A CoA was sufficient proof of rights until such time as a final decision is taken, the group said. A Home Office spokesperson said: 'All individuals with a certificate of application are made aware that they may be asked for evidence to show that they qualify under the scheme before they are allowed entry to the UK. Equivalent guidance has been issued to Border Force officers and published online.'

A surprisingly serene hotel, given its location in buzzy El Born, Borneta is a gorgeous hotel with a member's club vibe and an unbeatable rooftop pool. Borneta is perfectly placed to explore El Born's fabulous food and drink scene, and venturing out to the nearby wine and cocktail bars – of which there are many – is a highlight of any stay here. My top tip is the unassuming but dead popular tapas spot, Bar Joan Annabel Nugent Location Situated in the interlocking, puzzle-like streets of leafy El Born, the hotel is well placed for exploring Barcelona's sites, including Ciutadella Park, the Picasso Museum, the Moco Museum and the Foto Colectania Foundation, and is a surprisingly serene spot given its buzzy location. Barceloneta beach is only a 20-minute walk away, as are many great restaurants, including Super, a trendy new spot to enjoy market cuisine and natural wines. Only a couple of doors down from Borneta is the Spanish outpost of Aire: a luxurious, candle-lit spa which also has sites in London and New York. Read more: The best hotels in Barcelona The vibe Designed by London-based studio, Thurstan, the interiors bear the same clean lines and muted colour palette you'd find in London's trendy hotels – but there is a distinct Spanish feel thanks to rattan rugs and Catalan art throughout. Also dotted around are treasures picked up from the city's famous flea markets. The local feel is no doubt bolstered by the hotel's grand entrance, through the 19th-century arches of Passeig de Picasso. The ground-floor lounge is expansive with several plush sofas and a marble bar situated beneath a sweeping skylight. Tucked into one corner is The Library, a maroon den awash in low lighting and velvet upholstery. More frequently used by guests, however, is the large communal table in the lounge where digital nomads can be found firing off emails before hitting the beach. The vibe at Borneta is not dissimilar to that of a member's club – without the snooty clientele. Coffee table books are there to be flicked through and sofas are made for sinking into. In busy periods, a few more personnel on hand to help with the torrent of check-ins wouldn't hurt. As for the rooms themselves, rates (Essential; Premium; The Full Works) reflect the level of service you can expect and the add-ons, such as often a room is cleaned and minibar treats. Design wise, the rooms foster a sense of calm – awash with warm tones of terracotta and olive green, complemented by wood and jute. There are Marshall speakers and Nespresso machines in every room. If the true test of a great hotel room are its bathrooms, then Borneta passes with flying colours. Green marble and creamy Zellige tiles frame walk-in showers, which are fitted with full-size Le Labo products. One suite even has an alfresco bathtub. Very importantly for peak summer, the air conditioning is crankable and the curtains are black out. Pro tip: if you'd like higher ceilings (who wouldn't?) request a room on the second floor. Food and drink Volta is the hotel's restaurant, and a destination in itself among locals. Catalan for 'to go around', Volta has a menu that roams between Spain, Italy, France and North Africa. The produce is all local and organic, with market-fresh fish and Catalan ingredients at the heart of the offering. Raw dishes such as sea bass tartare are a highlight. At the rooftop bar, you can order cocktails and snacks. Looking out over Parc de la Ciutadella, it is the perfect place to start your morning with an iced coffee. Beyond the stellar view, the piece de resistance is a bespoke mirrored egg sculpture by the Grammy-nominated, Argentine-born artist Pilar Zeta. In busy periods the pool does get a little crowded. The basement gym (open 24 hours a day) is simple but chic, with wood accents and an old-school feel. The hotel's Refresh Room is perfect if you're between check-in and check-out with nowhere to go. Showers, toiletries, charging points and smart lockers are available for use so that you can spend your last hours in Barcelona lounging by the pool instead of dragging your suitcase around the city. There is one adapted room on every floor, with the exception of the fifth. Pet policy Pets are welcome in three of the pet-friendly rooms upon request.
