The stampede that ensued after the release of Thug Life OTT left more than 11 people feared dead, marking a dark chapter not only for RCB but also in the history of Bengaluru. This confusion was caused by the policies regarding ground passes. Initially, only pass holders were allowed in Chinnaswamy Stadium, but later, management announced that everyone could enter, causing confusion.
One of the victims who succumbed to the tragedy was Tamil Nadu's Kamatchi. Aged 27, Kamatchi was from the Tiruppur district and was working as an IT employee in Bengaluru. She had gone to witness the Royal Challengers Bengaluru celebrations at the Chinnaswamy Stadium before things turned worse.
Kamatch is the daughter of S. Moorthy and S. Rajalakshmi, the correspondent of Vivekanda Vidyalaya Matriculation School near Myvadi near Udumalpet. Both parents and other relatives of Kamatchi rushed to Bengaluru to collect her body and bring it back to their hometown and complete the final rites.

'Can You Share Virat's Number?': R Ashwin Recalls Hilarious Phone Call With Scamster

Last Updated: Ace India spinner Ashwin has recalled a scammer posing as Conway asking for Kohli's number after IPL 2025, amidst reports of youngsters getting calls from Kohli and de Villiers. Ace India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has recalled how a scamster once called him soon after IPL 2025, posing as New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter Devon Conway and asked him for Virat Kohli's number, amidst reports of two youngsters receiving calls from Kohli and AB de Villiers over Rajat Patidar's missing number. The SIM card once belonged to Patidar and soon an awestruck Manish Bisi was fielding calls from Kohli and de Villiers. What Manish and his friend, Khemraj, thought was a system glitch when they saw the profile picture of Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Patidar after they installed WhatsApp soon turned as real as voices on the other end of the phone line. Manish and Khemraj were soon sucked into a world of disbelief as callers identified themselves as Kohli, de Villiers and Yash Dayal, though the two tried to remain grounded in reality, thinking these were all part of some elaborate prank by friends. Speaking about the story on his YouTube channel, Ashwin shared a similar experience of his own. 'A guy messaged me after IPL 2025 ended, saying he was Conway and went, 'Hi buddy, how are you?' I responded and we had a full-fledged conversation as I asked him to stay in touch and promised that I would watch him play in MLC," Ashwin hilariously narrated. 'Then he said, 'I missed Virat's number, can you share it?' I wondered why he was asking for Kohli's number, but I couldn't ask him that since I didn't want Conway to misunderstand," Ashwin said. 'What I did was send him another number, saying it was Virat's. Then he said, 'I missed a few more numbers'. When I asked who else, he said Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni. I understood this was a prank. Then I asked him, 'I gave you a bat this year, how is it?' He said, 'The bat is amazing, ' but I never gave Conway a bat. He lied and I blocked him," Ashwin added. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive. R Ashwin falls victim to Virat Kohli number scam — Here's what happened

Virat Kohli and R Ashwin (X) In a strange twist of cricket and mistaken identities, two separate incidents have shown just how tricky phone numbers can be for players and fans alike. Recently in Chhattisgarh, a man bought a new SIM card only to discover it was once used by Royal Challengers Bengaluru batter Rajat Patidar . Soon, the phone started buzzing with calls from none other than Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers . Once Patidar got wind of the situation, he informed the police, and the man eventually returned the SIM. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! Speaking about the story on his YouTube channel, former India off-spinner R Ashwin shared a similar experience of his own. He said he recently received a WhatsApp message from an unknown number claiming to be New Zealand and Chennai Super Kings batter Devon Conway . At first, Ashwin believed it might be genuine. But when the person asked him for Virat Kohli 's number, doubts began to creep in. To test the situation, Ashwin shared a non-active number for Kohli. He then casually asked about a bat he had supposedly given to Conway. The reply came back that the bat was 'good', which confirmed Ashwin's suspicion — because in reality, he had never given Conway any bat at all. Poll Have you ever received a call or message intended for someone else? Yes, multiple times Yes, once No, never I'm not sure Ashwin quickly blocked the number and checked through Chennai Super Kings' communication channels, only to confirm it was a fake account. Both incidents show how easily impersonation can happen and how even cricketers need to be cautious about who they are really speaking to on the other end of the line.
