A man claiming to be a Bajrang Dal activist has been arrested and sent to jail for obstructing a delivery executive who was attempting to hand-off a meat package in Siddhartha Vihar here, police said. The "activists" are then seen confronting and asking his him why even after being a Hindu he is delivering meat.(X)
A video of the incident that took place on July 15 has surfaced on social media. In the video, two men are seen purportedly stopping the delivery executive and questioning him about the contents inside the package.
The delivery agent shows them a meat package along with other items, following which one of the man identifies himself as a Bajrang Dal worker and asks for the delivery boy's name.
The "activists" are then seen confronting and asking his him why even after being a Hindu he is delivering meat.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ritesh Tripathi said, "An FIR regarding the matter was lodged on Wednesday. The accused, Manoj Verma, from Hindon Vihar, has been arrested and sent to judicial custody on Thursday."
Further investigation in underway, he said.

The accused has been identified as Manoj Verma, who intercepted the delivery rider in Ghaziabad's Vijay Nagar. Not only did the Bajrang Dal member stop the delivery rider, and ask him to show what contents he was delivering, but also called up the customer — enquiring about the person's religion. A video of the incident has now gone viral multiple social media platforms. On July 15, Manoj Verma and his associates had stormed a Blinkit outlet in Siddharth Vihar — the store's manager — Mohnish said in a complaint. The group had also demanded an immediate halt to raw chicken deliveries during the month of Sawan and also threatened to shut down the store if their demands were not met. 'He came between 4 pm and 5 pm and started abusing our fleet manager, Abhay, saying that he was getting chicken delivered in the month of Shravan,' Monish wrote in the complaint, with Verma also threatening that he would kill him and get the store closed, mentioned a report by The Indian Express. Following the incident, Ghaziabad (City) Deputy Commissioner of Police Dhawal Jaiswal said that a probe into the incident has begun, and Manoj Verma has been sent to judicial custody. Subhash, a Bajrang Dal member in Ghaziabad, confirmed to the Times of India that the man seen in the now viral video is affiliated to his organisation. He said the incident occurred on Tuesday, July 22. "We have requested all restaurants and grocery stores not to sell non-vegetarian food till Shivratri. Whenever we found someone selling non-vegetarian food, we rushed there and asked them to sell only vegetarian items. This ban is only for a few days, and people of the district also support this initiative," Subhash was cited as saying.

PUDUKKOTTAI: A 35-year-old man and his younger brother were hacked to death, allegedly by an eight-member gang, near a temple at Avudaiyarkoil in the district on Thursday night. The accused are suspected to have committed the crime against the two Scheduled Caste (SC) men over previous enmity and caste-based hostility. A case, under sections of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, has been booked against the accused and all of them have been detained for inquiries, the police said. The victims have been identified as K Kannan and his younger brother K Karthik (29). The accused, who arrived in bikes, confronted the residents of Kamarajar Nagar near the Draupadi Amman temple in Aavudaiyarkoil and hacked them to death with machetes. The accused then surrendered at the Nagudi police station on Friday, the police said. According to an FIR registered based on a complaint by Kannan's wife, Kalidass, who is a caste Hindu, had tried to forcibly marry her before she eloped with Kannan 11 years ago. The tensions recently escalated following a dispute over a bike sale involving Kannan and another accused, Muthukumar.

Operation Sindoor is a testament to the Indian Armed Forces' bravery and strategic prowess, unwavering resolve against the terrorism and determination to protect the sovereignty and integrity of the nation.
