Morris, Alligator of ‘Happy Gilmore' Fame, Dies at 80 (or More)

New York Times14-05-2025

Morris, an alligator who appeared in numerous films and television shows, most notably in the movie 'Happy Gilmore,' died on Monday in Mosca, Colo. He was at least 80.
The cause was old age, according to the Colorado Gator Farm, which announced his death.
'His exact age was unknown, but he was nine feet long in 1975, and by his growth rate and tooth loss, we can estimate his age at over 80 years,' the farm said.
'He started acting strange about a week ago; he wasn't lunging at us and he wasn't taking food,' Jay Young, the farm's operator, said in a video accompanying the announcement. Tearfully stroking the gator's head, he said: 'I know it's strange to people that we get so attached.'
Morris was 10 feet 11 inches long and weighed 640 pounds at the time of his death.
He was discovered in Los Angeles, but not at Schwab's Pharmacy like so many actors of yore. Rather, he was found in a backyard, where he was being kept as an illegal pet. His acting career began in 1975 and ended in 2006, when he retired to the farm.
His most memorable onscreen role came in the rollicking 1996 comedy 'Happy Gilmore,' with Adam Sandler in the title role as a failed hockey player who becomes an unlikely sensation on the professional golf circuit.
Morris's big scene comes when he grabs a golf ball, leading Happy to confront him with an iron. Happy notices that the gator has one eye, recognizing it as the same one that had bitten off the hand of his mentor, Chubbs, played by Carl Weathers. ('Damned alligator just popped up, cut me down in my prime,' Chubbs says in one of the film's many beloved quotes.)
This leads a revenge-minded Happy to chase the alligator into a lake, where a violent confrontation ensues. (The reptile lost.)
But the alligator is not done, even posthumously. Happy presents Chubbs with a surprise gift: the alligator's head. This startles Chubbs, who proceeds to fall backward through a window to his death.
Morris's other film credits include 'Interview With the Vampire' (1994), 'Blues Brothers 2000' (1998) and 'Dr. Dolittle 2' (2001).
A sequel, 'Happy Gilmore 2,' is coming to Netflix on July 25. Given his advanced age, Morris did not appear in the sequel. Also, of course, his character died in the first film.
Alligators might live 30 to 50 years in the wild but can live decades longer in captivity. Muja, a resident of the Belgrade zoo, is generally considered to be 90, or very close to it.
Much like character in 'Happy Gilmore,' Morris will have a role even after death.
'We have decided to get Morris taxidermied so that he can continue to scare children for years to come,' the farm said. 'It's what he would have wanted.'

‘Ginny & Georgia' Season 3 Teases Arrest Aftermath and Mother-Daughter Drama: Everything We Know

Ginny Miller and Georgia Miller will return to Netflix for season 3 and fans will learn Georgia's fate after she was arrested during the season 2 finale for the murder of Tom Fuller (Vincent Legualt). Life & Style breaks down everything to know about Ginny & Georgia season 3, including the trailer, premiere, episode list and more. 'What happens when everything falls apart?' Antonia Gentry, who portrays Ginny, narrated at the beginning of the teaser. 'The rug can be pulled out from under you in a second.' Quick clips flashed throughout the trailer, including a moment when Ginny sat next to her dad, Zion Miller (Nathan Mitchell), brother Austin Miller (Diesel La Torraca) and stepfather Mayor Paul Randolph (Scott Porter) on a court bench, seemingly during Georgia's court date. Georgia, played by Brianne Howey, was arrested for the murder of Cynthia Fuller's late husband, Tom, who was in a coma during season 2. Whether it was temporary or permanent, the family matriarch was released from behind bars and sat in a bedroom while asking someone, 'Don't you wanna ask me if I did it?' Meanwhile, Georgia will attend her high school prom alongside her besties Maxine Baker (Sara Waisglass), Abigail "Abby" Littman (Katie Douglas) and Norah (Chelsea Clark). 'I'm not a bad person. It's all about perception,' Georgia said as she flashed a smile during her court hearing. Joe, Ginny's boss and owner of Blue Farm Cafe played by Raymond Ablack, appears in an intense scene, leading fans to wonder if his unfinished storyline with Georgia will come full circle. 'That one second clip of Joe had me SCREAMING and kicking my feet. I hope we get more of him this season,' one person wrote in the comments section of the post. Fans rejoiced in the series for not only having an entertaining storyline, but also showing just enough scenes in the trailer. 'THIS is how you do a teaser y'all. Short, but gripping and thrilling, yet it gives almost no spoilers away. Everything about this show has really stepped up since the first season,' one person wrote in the comments section of the April 2025 YouTube video. A third added, 'This season is about to be so good. This 30 second teaser really got me excited for what I'm about to see and I've been waiting for this for like two years.' The full Ginny & Georgia season 3 trailer was released on May 8, 2025, and offered a closer look at what's to come. In one scene, Ginny lamented to Max about everybody at school staring at her while her mother awaited her murder trial. However, as Max pointed out, 'Your college essay writes itself.' Another scene showed Georgia's lawyer telling her that being found guilty of first-degree murder meant life in prison without the possibility of parole. The clip flashed to a courtroom, where a judge told Georgia, 'You will be on house arrest. You will be monitored with an ankle bracelet until trial.' As the tensions rose throughout the trailer, scenes flashed of Max telling her friends that she's worried about Ginny and Georgia experiencing a panic attack. 'Everyone thinks I'm a violent, unhinged monster,' she could be heard saying in a voiceover. Elsewhere, she said, 'I'm not a bad person. But if you come face to face with bad, you become a little bad yourself.' 'I don't want my mom to go to prison,' Ginny later said. Netflix hyped up fans by releasing the upcoming season's episode list. 'The official Season 3 Episode titles are here! Each title is a line of dialogue said in the episode,' the official Ginny & Georgia Instagram account captions the April 29, 2025, post read. 'Titles and more updates can be found in the link in bio!' The season will kick off with episode 'This Wouldn't Even Be a Podcast,' followed by 'Beep Beep Freaking Beep,' 'Friends Can Dance,' 'The Bitch Is Back,' 'Boom Goes the Dynamite,' 'At Least It Can't Get Worse,' 'That's Wild,' 'Is That a Packed Lunch?,' 'It's Time For My Solo' and 'Monsters.' Ginny & Georgia season 3 premieres on Netflix on June 5, 2025.

‘Ginny & Georgia' Cast and Characters: Everyone in Season 3, Including Diesel La Torraca and More

The wait is almost over! It's been over two years since new episodes of Ginny & Georgia last graced our Netflix screens, but season 3 is finally set to arrive on June 5, 2025. After such a long break, fans might need a refresher on the many cast members and their characters. Life & Style has you covered. One-half of the show's titular roles, Ginny Miller, is portrayed by Antonia Gentry. Ginny is often fed up with her mother constantly moving her and her younger brother, Austin, to new places whenever a relationship ends — usually under mysterious circumstances. Antonia's big break came in Ginny & Georgia, but she appeared in the 2018 Netflix film Candy Jar prior to starring in the series. She is also known for Hulu's Prom Dates (2024) and Netflix's Time Cut (2024). The other starring role of Georgia Miller is played by Brianne Howey. Georgia is a single mother of two kids, a survivor of sexual abuse and a former teen mom who has fled many places around the country when her relationships put her and her children in danger. However, some of the things she has done to escape said danger have caught up to her. Before Ginny & Georgia, Brianne was known for Fox's The Exorcist (2016) and The Passage (2019). She has also starred in the films Dear Santa and Kinda Pregnant. Ginny's younger brother, Austin Miller, is played by Diesel La Torraca. Diesel has grown up before fans' eyes, as he was 9 years old when filming for season 1 began in 2020. When season 3 drops in June 2025, he'll be 14 years old. Diesel previously appeared in Little Monsters (2019) and La Brea (2021 to 2023). Raymond Ablack plays Joe, the owner of the Blue Farm Café in Wellsbury, Massachusetts. He had a brief encounter with Georgia as a teen and develops feelings for her when they reconnect in Wellsbury. Raymond began his career as a child theater actor, having played Young Simba in The Lion King at the Princess of Wales Theatre. He is also known for his roles in Degrassi: The Next Generation (2007 to 2011), Orphan Black (2013–2016), Shadowhunters (2016–2018) and Narcos (2017). Scott Porter plays Mayor Paul Randolph, the mayor of Wellsbury. Scott and Georgia get married at the end of season 2, just before her arrest for the murder of Tom Fuller, Cynthia Fuller's husband. Scott is best known for his role as Jason Street in NBC's Friday Night Lights (2006 to 2011). He also starred in Bandslam (2009) and Hart of Dixie (2011 to 2015). Sara Waisglass stars as Maxine "Max" Baker, Ginny's energetic best friend and Marcus' fraternal twin sister. Sara is most known for her role as Frankie Hollingsworth in Degrassi: The Next Generation and Degrassi: Next Class. Max's fraternal twin brother, Marcus, is played by Felix Mallard. Marcus quickly becomes a bad boy love interest for Ginny, but this causes tension with Max. Felix is known for starring in CBS' Happy Together (2018–2019) and appearing in Netflix's Locke & Key (2020–2021) and NBC's Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist (2021). While the above names are the main players in Ginny & Georgia, there are still plenty of other cast members. Viewers will see Jennifer Robertson as Ellen Baker, Max and Marcus' mom, and Chris Kenopic as Clint Baker, their father, who is deaf. Meanwhile, there are the other two members of the friend group MANG — Katie Douglas, who plays Abby, and Chelsea Clark, who plays Norah. Mason Temple plays Hunter Chen, Ginny's season 1 love interest. Katelyn Wells plays Silver, Max's love interest in season 2. There's also Nathan Mitchell, who portrays Ginny's father, Zion Miller, and Aaron Ashmore, who plays Austin's dad, Gil Timmins. Sabrina Grdevich plays Cynthia Fuller, while Connor Laidman plays her son, Zach. Season 3 will also introduce two new faces: Manifest's Ty Doran, who will play one of Ginny's poetry classmates Wolfe, and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' Noah Lamanna, who will play a skateboarder who is friends with Marcus.
