Hollywood star Jared Leto under fire for misconduct allegations
Hollywood actor Jared Leto, known for his roles in films like House of Gucci and Suicide Squad , now finds himself at the centre of serious allegations.
Nine women have come forward accusing the 53-year-old star of predatory and inappropriate behaviour. Some are even claiming the incidents occurred when they were minors.
The controversy reignited recently after Los Angeles DJ Allie Teilz shared a decade-old Facebook post on Instagram.
She alleged that Leto tried to force himself on her backstage when she was just 17. 'He knew my age and didn't care,' Teilz said. 'What he did was predatory, terrifying and unacceptable.'
She described the encounter vividly: 'You're not really in L.A. until Jared Leto tries to force himself on you… in a kilt and a snow hat'.
Model Laura La Rue also spoke out, recounting an unsettling experience from 2008 when she was 16. She said Leto asked her age and, despite knowing she was underage, asked for her phone number, according to People.
La Rue recalled visiting his Los Angeles home in 2009, where he allegedly flirted and teased her.
She also claimed that when she was 17, Jared Leto once walked out of a room completely naked. 'I thought maybe that's just what grown men did,' she said.
Another woman described a disturbing incident where Leto, during a visit to his home, exposed himself and masturbated in front of her after she turned 18.
He reportedly grabbed her hand and asked her to spit on him. The woman also said their relationship began with flirty texts while she was still underage.
Leto's representatives have strongly denied all allegations.
A spokesperson said the communications with La Rue 'contain nothing sexual or inappropriate' and claimed she later applied to be Leto's assistant, which La Rue denies.
Regarding Teilz's accusations, the rep called them 'demonstrably false.' The actor himself has yet to comment publicly on the matter.
One anonymous accuser told Air Mail , 'It's been an open secret for a long time.' The flood of claims against Jared Leto underscores the need for deeper scrutiny and justice in Hollywood and beyond.
As this story develops, it will be crucial to watch how the actor responds and what legal or industry actions follow.
Meanwhile, the voices of these women demand attention and respect, urging a culture of transparency and safety for all.

Prosecutors remain hopeful in Joshlin Smith case despite life sentences for kidnappers
Just over a week ago, Kelly Smith, Jacquen Appollis, and Steveno Van Rhyn were sentenced to life imprisonment by the Western Cape High Court for their roles in the abduction and trafficking of Joshlin, who was reported missing on February 19, 2024. State prosecutors in the high-profile kidnapping and trafficking case of six-year-old Joshlin Smith say they remain hopeful the child will still be found, despite the conviction and sentencing of the three individuals held responsible for her disappearance. Just over a week ago, Kelly Smith, Jacquen Appollis, and Steveno Van Rhyn were sentenced to life imprisonment by the Western Cape High Court for their roles in the abduction and trafficking of Joshlin, who was reported missing on February 19, 2024. The little girl has not been seen since that day, and her disappearance continues to haunt both investigators and the wider South African public. Prosecutors Advocate Zelda Swanepoel and Advocate Aradhana Heeramun led the state's case in the matter. Speaking to the media following the sentencing, both prosecutors described the outcome as bittersweet, saying justice had been served in part, but that the fight was far from over. 'We are still hopeful that something will break and we can solve this case by finding Joshlin,' said Heeramun. 'Every single lead is followed up. At no stage did we say this is a cold case. It is still a very active and live investigation.' Despite the court's decision bringing a degree of legal closure to a year-long investigation, Swanepoel emphasised that the most important part of the case remains unresolved: finding Joshlin.

Photo: Comrades Marathon/Facebook Image: Comrades Marathon/Facebook The power of the Comrades Marathon was on full display late on Sunday afternoon as runners scrambled across the finish line. While all the glory went to the winners who had finished earlier, those who crossed the line later were also proud of their achievements. One of the runners who crossed the line in a time of 09:53 was kwaito star Kabelo Mabalane of TKZee fame, who was running the Comrades for the 13th time. Speaking on the SuperSport broadcast at the finish line, Mabalane remarked on how tough the 2025 race was for him. Get your news on the go, click here to join the IOL News WhatsApp channel. I quit as I'd had enough, but my wife was amazing, and friends of mine [who were on the route] were very encouraging,' Mabalane said. He found the strength to carry on, and along the way, crossed paths with Akhona Mkangala, who was also struggling. 'Akhona helped me to the finish line. We met on the route with 17 km to go. She was crying on the side of the road and I was like, 'Let's finish together,' and ja, we made it. I didn't think I'd be here.' Despite a difficult run, Mkangala insisted the 2025 Comrades was not her last. 'Tough day in the office. It started off very well, but I started to struggle at Bill Rowan, but clearly Comrades has its own things. It's an unpredictable race, but we'll come back again next year,' she added. Showing his appreciation for the race organisers, Mabalane said he was impressed by Sunday's race, which finished at People's Park instead of the Kingsmead cricket ground. 'To the Comrades Marathon Association: You guys outdid yourselves. It's a spectacular race.' Turning to the camera, he said: 'To you at home, you have to do Comrades at least once in your lifetime. It's going to change your life.' Earlier in the day, Tete Dijana crossed the line in a time of five hours, 25 minutes 27 for his third Comrades Marathon title. Dijana out-duelled defending champion Piet Wiersma, to add to the titles he won in 2022 and 2023. Wiersma crossed the line (5:25:33) less than 1o seconds after Dijana. Nikolai Volkov was third in 5:29:42. In the women's race, Gerda Steym claimed a fourth title when she crossed the line in five hours, 51 and 19 seconds. The result confirmed her status as the dominant force in ultra marathon running in South Africa with her third consecutive title, her maiden win came in 2019. IOL Sport

Update: Community holds emotional vigil for Brakpan teen killed in crash involving 12-year-old driver
A sombre atmosphere prevailed this afternoon at the place in Brakpan, Ekurhuleni, where 14-year-old Malcolm Booysen died yesterday after being struck by a vehicle driven by a 12-year-old child. Brakpan Herald reports that friends, family and well-wishers wrote messages on a large wooden cross and laid down flowers. Malcolm's grieving parents Helen-Ann and Quinton Booysen were comforted by people at the scene. Helen cried inconsolably before a scripture reading and prayer were held. Malcolm's brothers Austin (18), Jason (11) and Jacques (9) took turns writing messages on the wooden cross for their brother. His grandfather André Booysen (66) told the Brakpan Herald the family is still in shock and trying to make sense of the tragic event that claimed Malcolm's life. Earlier today, Brakpan Herald reported that, according to City of Ekurhuleni spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, officers from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department Accident Bureau were summoned to an accident at the corner of Northdene Avenue and Madeley Street at about 13:45 yesterday. 'The officers found the lifeless body of a 14-year-old pedestrian, who was declared deceased on scene by paramedics,' says Dlamini. 'Also on the scene, the officers found a Mazda that allegedly bumped the pedestrian, driven by a 12-year-old driver. 'The driver was handed in, accompanied by his guardian, to the Brakpan SAPS. 'It is alleged that the driver used the motor vehicle and disobeyed a stop sign and collided into the pedestrian.'
