Drivers face motorway lane changes as roadworks continue
Motorists are being reminded to be aware of lane changes while driving through roadworks on the M27 in Hampshire. Lanes three and four between Junction 5, near Stoneham, and Junction 7, near Hedge End, were set to undergo resurfacing work from 06:00 BST until Thursday. With works now complete eastbound, workers will transfer to the westbound carriageway to get ready to install a new road surface and improved drainage and safety barriers.Richard Scrase, programme delivery manager for National Highways, said: "I would urge motorists to allow more time for their journey on this section of the M27."
Mr Scrase said those travelling westbound should make sure they stay left if they want to exit the motorway at Junctions 8, 7 and 5, or Junction 4 for the M3."Otherwise, if you're driving in the contraflow lane you will need to stay on the M27 until Junction 3 and turn back if you have missed your exit," he said. "We understand the inconvenience our work may cause but it will result in a smoother ride for drivers, make the road quieter, improve safety and ensure the road lasts for many years to come."

Hull A63 city centre roadworks on track after delay announced
Highways officials say they are "very confident" a major roadworks scheme in Hull city centre will open next December, National Highways announced the A63 Castle Street project had been delayed by a year due to "extremely challenging ground conditions".Work had originally been due to be completed by spring manager Frances Oliver apologised for the delays, but said the scheme was on track to be completed by the revised date. Ms Oliver said: "It's a really technical scheme and there are lots of different elements."There is really large element of technical design to overcome the ground conditions and, as part of that, we've had to do some slight tweaks to the design," she said."We are really disappointed and we apologise for the delays - we all want to get this scheme finished." In response to a question about congestion, she said they had made some tweaks to traffic control measures as a result of customer feedback and were working with the city council to monitor the the majority of the time, she said there were two lanes of traffic running in each direction, with speed restrictions in place. Investigation launched after lorry crashes on M20 in Kent
Police say they are investigating a "serious collision" on the M20. Kent Police said it was called shortly after 15:15 BST on Thursday to the incident on the junction nine slip road of the M20 coastbound.A lorry had left the carriageway, the force said. Eastbound between J8 and J9 on the M20, which runs between Ashford and Maidstone, was closed until just before 04:00 BST on Friday, according to National Highways. South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire & Rescue Service attended the scene. Kent Police appealed for anyone who witnessed or has dashcam footage of the crash to get in contact.
