Butler County volleyball coach and elementary teacher accused of having sexual relationship with teenager
Pennsylvania State Police said Friday that Jared Lampus, 50, of Sarver, was arrested following an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct.
Lampus, who State Police say is a teacher at Buffalo Elementary School in the Freeport Area School District and a youth coach with the Pittsburgh Elite Volleyball Association, is facing numerous charges including rape, sexual assault, corruption of minors, and other offenses.
State Police say Lampus had a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old child. Troopers say the misconduct took place in Butler, Armstrong, and Allegheny counties.
Details on the investigation and charges haven't been released, but State Police say Lampus is being held in the Butler County Jail.
In a statement provided to KDKA-TV, the Freeport Area School District said it was notified of the investigation and at this time, they don't have complete information of the circumstances of the matter.
The district says Lampus has been placed on leave pending further information or the outcome of the State Police investigation.
"The safety of our students is the highest priority of the Freeport Area School District," the district said.
KDKA has also reached out to the Pittsburgh Elite Volleyball Association for comment. Lampus is no longer listed on the organization's staff directory.
State Police are asking anyone with information about similar conduct from Lampus to contact the Kittanning barracks at 724-543-2011.

Tennessee man charged for allegedly raping unconscious woman outside church before she died
Nashville police charged a man with four counts of rape after witnesses say they saw him assaulting an unconscious woman outside a church on Thursday. Officers with the Metro Nashville Police Department rushed the woman to an area hospital soon after the incident, but she died after arriving. Police identified the suspect as 39-year-old Mohamed Mohamed. "A Nashville Fire Department crew traveling on Nolensville Pike just after 9:30 p.m. enroute to a call saw the sexual assault taking place on a sidewalk in front of the church. They turned around and chirped their siren," the MNPD said in a statement. "As they pulled up to the sidewalk, Mohamed was attempting to pull up the unconscious victim's pants. The fire crew detained Mohamed, called for police and rendered aid to the victim," the statement continued. "Surveillance video shows the victim by herself walking unsteadily toward the front steps of the church. She was unable to keep her balance and sat down on a step, appearing to be under the influence of some type of substance. Mohamed approached and sat down beside her," police said. "Mohamed made physical contact with the victim as she went in and out of consciousness as she tried to push him away. He ultimately lifted her off the steps, put her on the ground, and repeatedly sexually assaulted her," the statement added. Police say Mohamed refused to be interviewed after being taken into custody. His bond has been set at $300,000. As of Friday, the Medical Examiner was still awaiting the results of toxicology testing in order to determine the victim's cause of death. Police have identified the victim as a 34-year-old woman who they believe was homeless. Her name has not been made public, as a police chaplain was still trying to find and notify her family.

Hindsville man sentenced to 65 years for rape, 4 other sex crimes
BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A Hindsville man was sentenced to 65 years in prison for the rapes of two minors and other sex crimes. Roberto Fernandez, 30, pleaded guilty to two counts of rape, two counts of trafficking persons and two counts related to viewing and possessing child sexual abuse material. Fernandez entered his plea on Tuesday, Aug. 12, and was sentenced the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 13, by Benton County Circuit Judge Brad Karren. He was scheduled to be tried by jury on Aug. 18, but pleading guilty allowed him to avoid a possible mandatory life sentence. Case background Fernandez was arrested on March 27, 2023, following concurrent investigations by the Centerton and Rogers police departments. The Centerton police began their inquiry after receiving a report that Fernandez had raped an 11-year-old girl. During a forensic interview at the Children's Advocacy Center of Benton County, the girl identified herself, bedding and other items seen in a video of the abuse. Additional reports and evidence surfaced during the investigation and a detective from the Rogers Police Department revealed that Fernandez had confessed to committing two rapes. According to court documents, Rogers police were also investigating Fernandez for an assault in March 2023, where another girl reported being raped in her apartment. Hot Springs massage parlor operator facing human trafficking charges after multi-state investigation During that investigation, police discovered additional videos depicting Fernandez engaged in sexual acts with minors. According to court documents, the abuse occurred between Jan. 1, 2022, and March 26, 2023. Pennsylvania state police charge Connellsville man in high-speed, multi-vehicle crash that injured another driver
A Fayette County man is facing charges after a multi-vehicle crash critically injured another man on Saturday night in Bullskin Township, state police said. Matthew McKnight, 46, of Connellsville, is accused of speeding and leaving the scene of the crash at the intersection of East End Road and Memorial Boulevard. State police said they were called to the scene of the three-vehicle crash just after 10:30 p.m. Two drivers, 67-year-old Martin Halfhill and 76-year-old James Blackburn, both also from Connellsville, were stopped in their vehicles in the left-hand turning lane at Memorial Boulevard, state police said. While stopped, state police say McKnight's speeding Dodge Ram pickup slammed into the back of Blackburn's minivan, pushing it forward into Halfhill's SUV. Blackburn was severely injured in the crash and flown from the scene by medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, state police said. He remains in critical condition. State police said McKnight left the scene after the crash, but troopers later found his pickup parked near his home. It has "extensive front-end damage consistent with the crash," investigators said. He is in state police custody and awaiting arraignment on the charges he is facing. McKnight is listed on the Fayette County EMS website at as the Assistant Director of Operations. Fayette County District Attorney Michael Aubele calls the charges "concerning and disappointing." He has released this statement to KDKA on Sunday afternoon. "The charges are very concerning and disappointing in light of Mr. McKnight's employment; that will not, however, affect how we prosecute this matter," Aubele said. "We are awaiting updates on the condition of James Blackburn, the victim in this incident, and we will release more information as it becomes available. Mr. McKnight is presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law." State police and the Fayette Count District Attorney's Office continue the investigation.
