Dolly Parton's collection of hits on the Official Singles chart — the list of the biggest songs in the United Kingdom — runs surprisingly short. The country legend has only ever landed 11 appearances on the tally, as country music isn't nearly as popular on that side of the Atlantic as it is in the United States.
The superstar scores a surprising win this week on the competitive roster alongside one of the most famous musicians in the world, returning for the first time in well over a decade.
Dolly Parton And Beyoncé Debut Together
Parton debuts on the Official Singles chart at No. 83 this week with "Tyrant." The track is fronted by Beyoncé, who recruited Parton to appear on her first country album, Cowboy Carter. "Tyrant" was never shared as an official single from the project, and it was originally released alongside the album in the spring of 2024. The tune has recently gone viral, and is now one of the 100 biggest songs in the U.K.
Dolly Parton's First New Hit in More than a Decade
"Tyrant" earns Parton her eleventh hit on the Official Singles chart and her first in almost 15 years. The last time the singer-songwriter launched a new track on the tally was in September 2011, when "Together You and I" entered and peaked at No. 67.
'Jolene' Started It All
Parton first appeared on the Official Singles chart in May 1976 with "Jolene," which has gone on to become not just one of her most famous tracks, but one of the most celebrated country tunes in history. That song is tied with "Islands in the Stream," her collaboration with Kenny Rogers, for the honor of being her highest-rising win, as both peaked at No. 7 decades ago.
Beyoncé Returns As Well
Beyoncé earns her first new hit on the Official Singles chart in a little over a year. Coincidentally, in April 2024, she debuted her version of "Jolene," which peaked at No. 8, just one spot above "II Most Wanted," her collaboration with Miley Cyrus, which stalled at No. 9. Several tracks from Cowboy Carter, including "Texas Hold 'Em" and "16 Carriages," also appeared on the list.
Beyoncé has now claimed dozens of wins on the roster throughout her career.
'Tyrant' Reaches Multiple Charts At Once
As "Tyrant" arrives on the Official Singles chart, it also appears for the first time on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Singles tally. Parton is new to that list, but Beyoncé has been reaching that ranking with a variety of tunes from many different projects for decades. "Tyrant" opens at No. 17 this week.

FKA Twigs and Shia LaBeouf reach settlement in abuse lawsuit

British singer-songwriter FKA Twigs and Hollywood actor Shia LaBeouf have reached an agreement in her 2020 abuse lawsuit. FKA Twigs, whose real name is Tahliah Debrett Barnett, had accused her former partner of physical, mental and emotional abuse. In a joint statement, their lawyers confirmed the settlement, but said the details would "remain private". LaBeouf previously said many allegations against him are untrue but apologised for the hurt he had caused. The settlement puts an end to a case that has dragged on for five years with little progress. According legal documents seen by Us Weekly, Barnett asked the court to dismiss all claims against LaBeouf with prejudice, meaning that she cannot refile them in the future. A trial had been initially set for last year but was later postponed. On Tuesday, Barnett's lawyer Bryan Freedman and LaBeouf's lawyer Shawn Holley said both parties wished each other well. "Committed to forging a constructive path forward, we have agreed to settle our case out of court," they said in the statement. "While the details of the settlement will remain private, we wish each other personal happiness, professional success and peace in the future." The pair met on the set of the movie Honey Boy in 2018 and dated for nine months, before splitting in 2019 citing conflicting work schedules. But in legal documents filed in 2020, Barnett accused LaBeouf of "relentless abuse" including "mental and verbal harassment" that eventually turned into "physical violence". She detailed incidents of LaBeouf waking her up in the middle of the night and "strangling" her, throwing her against a car during an argument and becoming angry when she spoke to other men. In a 2021 interview with Louis Theroux on his BBC Radio 4 Grounded podcast, Barnett said she felt "scared and intimidated and controlled" by LaBeouf, and was left with ongoing mental trauma from their relationship. "I was left with PTSD [post-traumatic stress disorder] from that, which again is just something that I don't think we really talk about as a society just in terms of the healing when leaving, and how much work that has to be done to recover, to get back to the person that you were before," she said at the time. LaBeouf previously told The New York Times that many of Barnett's allegations are not true but said he owed her and Karolyn Pho, another woman whose claims featured in the lawsuit, "the opportunity to air their statements publicly and [for me to] accept accountability for those things I have done". "I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I'm ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say," he added in another statement. Barnett released her latest album Eusexua earlier this year and has received multiple accolades including two Brit Award nominations for best British female solo artist. LaBeouf's latest film was this year's crime drama Henry Johnson. He is known for the Transformers franchise and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Why Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi Are Selling $30 Million U.K. Home

Originally appeared on E! Online Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have moved yet again. Eight months after the former talk show host and her wife moved to the U.K., the pair are selling their Cotswolds mansion and have relocated to another nearby home in order to accommodate Portia's animals. 'When we decided to live here full time, we knew that Portia couldn't live without her horses,' Ellen told The Wall Street Journal in a statement published July 22. 'We needed a home that had a horse facility and pastures for them.' The comedian and Arrested Development actress are now in the process of selling Kitesbridge Farm, their 43-acre estate in the English countryside. Ellen and Portia purchased the property for about $20 million in the spring of 2024 and performed extensive renovations, because the farm was 'quite tired, with a quite basic finish,' listing agent Andrew Barnes told the Journal. Now, Kitesbridge Farm—which includes a heated indoor swimming pool, gym and party barn with its own pub—is on the market for about $30 million. More from E! "And we're like, 'We're staying here.'" Plus, the comedian and her wife—who celebrated 20 years together in March—love the country. "It's absolutely beautiful," she continued. "We're just not used to seeing this kind of beauty. The villages and the towns and the architecture—everything you see is charming and it's just a simpler way of life.'
