Dolly Parton Reveals What She Really Thought About Beyonce's ‘Completely Different' Cover of ‘Jolene'
Beyoncé reimagines Dolly Parton's iconic song "Jolene" on her 2024 Cowboy Carter album, transforming it from a plea into a powerful warning Dolly Parton praises Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter, calling the album 'really, really good' and expressing pride in the bold reinterpretation of her 1973 hit Parton appears twice on Cowboy Carter, including as a fictional radio DJ on the track "Dolly P" and in a cameo at the start of Beyoncé's song "Tyrant"Don't come for her man! Dolly Parton's 1973 hit, 'Jolene," has had Parton fans singing along for decades, but in 2024, Beyoncé put a modern spin on it. Beyoncé, 43, covered the song on her 2024 album Cowboy Carter, changing the tone and key lyrics of the song to serve as more of a warning instead of Parton's plea. For example, where Parton sings, 'I'm beggin' of you, please don't take my man,' Beyonce declares, 'I'm warning you, don't come for my man.' In an interview with PEOPLE tied to the release of her single-serve frozen meals with Conagra brands, Parton gushed about Beyoncé and her musical talent. 'I'm a huge fan of hers — I mean, who's not? Everybody loves her,' Parton said. 'I think she's a magnificent artist, beautiful and the dancing in addition to the singing.' Parton called Cowboy Carter a 'really, really good album,' one that features two cameos from the Country Music Hall of Famer. Parton is heard in the track "Dolly P," in which she plays a fake radio DJ queuing up the next set of songs. The "9 to 5" singer also contributed to the song "Tyrant," which is featured later on the record. The 10th track on the album is Beyoncé's fiery rendition of 'Jolene,' which Parton loved. 'I was just honored that she, of course, did a completely different take on 'Jolene' than than my version of it," Parton tells PEOPLE. "Hers was more like, 'Well, you're not getting him, you're not taking him, you're going to go through me to get him.' Mine was more like, 'Please don't take him!' So I loved her interpretation." She continued, 'As a writer, you like to hear how different people interpret your songs, and how they put their own spin and do their own take on it. But I was very proud of it, and I hope her tour does great, and I'm sure it will. People seem to be loving it.' Beyoncé is currently on the road for the Cowboy Carter Tour, which is set to conclude on July 26, in Paradise, Nev. Read the original article on People

Beyoncé puts on final show in Los Angeles: Top moments as Rumi sings, robot spills whiskey
Beyoncé puts on final show in Los Angeles: Top moments as Rumi sings, robot spills whiskey Beyoncé Knowles-Carter hit the stage for her final show in Los Angeles on her "Cowboy Carter" tour, and in true Bey fashion, she went went out with a bang. The Grammy-winning singer performed her fifth and final show on her Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin Circuit Tour at SoFi Stadium on May 9. The show kicked off around 8:03p.m. PT — the earliest time yet — as Beyoncé entered to a packed crowd. Before the night began, Beyoncé's Parkwood Entertainment company told fans to arrive early. In a story shared to Instagram, the company wrote, "Please get to SoFi Stadium early tonight. The buckin' begins on stage at 7:45 p.m." The May 9th show proved to be another groundbreaking spectacle, blending fashion, different music genres and most notably country music and politics. There are few standout moments that have the Beyhive buzzing about Beyoncé's final Los Angeles performance. Rumi Carter sings along with Beyoncé to 'Dangerously in Love' Beyoncé's 7-year-old daughter, Rumi Carter, has been a highlight of the tour. She first stole the hearts of fans with her vibrant stage presence, excitedly waving at the crowd as Beyoncé performed 'Protector.' Since then, fans have eagerly waited to see her take the stage each night. At the final show, she delivered another adorable moment, singing the lyrics alongside her mom as she sang her 2003 song 'Dangerously in Love." Beyoncé replaces the infamous stairs, robot arm misses Bey's cup Beyoncé's concerts have been filled with high-tech production, and eagle-eyed fans have been watching every detail. One unexpected fan obsession has been the stairs Beyoncé descends before performing her song 'I'm That Girl.' Early in the tour, fans speculated that the stairs were brought out late, and each night, the Beyhive jokingly kept tabs on their arrival. Friday night, Beyoncé switched things up as she replaced the stairs with a sleek stage lift, and fans immediately took note of the upgrade. Another high-tech moment came courtesy of a robotic arm on stage. Fans noticed the arm may have missed Beyoncé's cup while pouring her a glass of SirDavis whiskey. Of course, the Beyhive caught the diva's reaction. And the moment instantly sparked playful reactions and admiration across the internet. Beyoncé's 'Tyrant' and 'Haunted' mashup makes the set list again Beyoncé's tour set list has been a major talking point. The last four shows have mostly maintained the same set list, including her beloved throwback hits. On night four, fans were thrilled to hear one particular mash-up, where Beyoncé mixed her 2024 song "Tyrant" with her 2013 tune "Haunted." And many were eager to see the fan-favorite made the cut once again during the last show. Blue Ivy chooses rodeo queen ahead of final show A fun tradition that's taken shape ahead of Beyoncé's shows is her publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, selecting the best-dressed fan and crowning them 'rodeo queen' for their standout western-inspired outfit. Before the final show kicked off, Schure surprised the crowd by announcing that this time, the winner was chosen by none other than Blue Ivy Carter herself. Of course, Beyoncé debuted her Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin Circuit Tour at SoFi Stadium in Los Angles on April 28 with 39 songs on the set list. A total of five shows took place on the SoFi Stadium stage on April 28, May 1, May 4, May 7 and May 9. As fans know, Beyoncé first released the 27-track project in March 2024. It has since made history and broken multiple records. As Beyoncé's first country album, she deliberately featured country legends and emerging Black country artists alike. She became the first Black woman to win best country album at the 2025 Grammys and also took home album of the year. The nine-city tour will span the U.S. and Europe with the grand finale taking place in Las Vegas on July 26. She has already made history with her tour dates, including by playing the most dates at SoFi Stadium of any artist. Beyoncé's next tour stop will take place in Chicago at Soldier Field on May 15. Beyoncé setlist: All the songs on her Cowboy Carter tour
INGLEWOOD, CA — It's been a year since Beyoncé dropped arguably her most ambitious album yet, and now she's bringing 'Cowboy Carter' to life. With a few pops of pyro and a strut down a catwalk in a white-fringed getup, country couture Beyoncé kicked off her 32-date stadium tour April 28 at SoFi Stadium with 'American Requiem.' Beyoncé's five shows at the venue add to her record-breaking resume: She now holds the record for the most performances at the 70,000-capacity stadium, where she played three nights on her Renaissance World Tour in 2023. The opening night of Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter spectacle – the fifth all-stadium tour of her decorated career – drew heavily from her lauded album, with 19 of the 36 songs played during the 2 ¾-hour show coming from the career opus that won album of the year at this year's Grammys. Beyoncé changed the setlist for SoFi Stadium's second night May 1, moving some songs around and adding several including "If I Were A Boy," "Single Ladies" and "Love on Top." Along with her California performances, Beyoncé will play multiple shows in Chicago and East Rutherford, New Jersey before heading to Europe in June and returning to the U.S. for a pair of shows in her Houston hometown and Washington, D.C., four concerts in Atlanta and a final double shot in Las Vegas July 25-26. People Are Shocked After Beyoncé Seemingly Experienced A Terrifying Stage Malfunction Involving Literal Robots
Beyoncé's highly-anticipated Cowboy Carter tour kicked off in LA this week, and it's already taken the internet by storm — not just for the iconic appearances from her daughters, Blue Ivy and Rumi. Amid the almost-3-hour show, which features 36 songs, Beyoncé went all out with the technologically-advanced stage production. She rode a mechanical bull while singing 'Tyrant,' for example, and was hoisted up above the crowd by a giant horseshoe while singing 'Daddy Lessons' — not to mention the mid-air suspension on a literal car during '16 Carriages.' Beyoncé also had a pair of robot arms on stage during her Renaissance segment of the show, which she memorably used on her last tour. Well, on the second night of the tour, it appeared as though Beyoncé had a bit of a mishap with said robot arms after crew members seemingly forgot to mark the spot for her to stand on stage to avoid being hit by them. In a video circulating online, which you can watch here, Beyoncé can be seen looking all over the floor before positioning herself in the middle of the two arms while a crew member quickly appears on stage. The pair of arms flung out on either side of Beyoncé — who, luckily, wasn't hit and seamlessly continued with her performance. However, several fans have since expressed their fear over the entire thing. 'They didn't put a mark on the floor for her to know where to stop. She could've been wacked by the machines had she not stopped herself,' one person observed, while another echoed: 'They didn't put her mark down. She didn't know where to stand. It could've hit her in the face.' 'I think her marks weren't on the floor so she wasn't sure where to stand for the robots,' someone guessed. Another person wrote, 'You can see in her face when she doesn't notice the marks on the floor. Her crew gotta stop playing because this could've definitely went left if she was in the wrong position!' 'this is the only time in my life that i've seen beyonce look disoriented onstage,' one user said. Meanwhile, more fans described the mishap as 'frightening.' One tweet read, 'that's scary asf bc one of the robots could've smacked her in the face if she wasn't positioned right,' while another similarly said, 'she is so professional bc this is actually so frightening, like what if one of the robot hands hit her?'

Beyonce's kicks off 'Cowboy Carter' tour
Singer Beyonce launched her Cowboy Carter stadium tour on Monday, rolling through Texas Hold 'Em and other country-inspired hits and sharing the stage with her two daughters. Beyonce opened the nearly three-hour show at SoFi Stadium near Los Angeles with Ameriican Requiem, appearing in an all-white cowboy outfit with long fringe on the sleeves as dancers in red performed around her. For her cover of Dolly Parton classic Jolene, Beyonce sat on a lighted horseshoe that floated above the crowd. She rode a gold mechanical bull for Tyrant and flew through the air in a red car while holding an American flag for 16 Carriages. Beyonce's 13-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, joined the backup dancers for several songs, including Ya Ya and America Has a Problem. She strutted down a long runway to lead a dance to Deja Vu, flipping her hair as she turned to walk back. Seven-year-old Rumi Carter appeared on stage while Beyonce performed the lullaby Protector. She waved both hands to the crowd and turned around to give her mom a hug. Cowboy Carter earned Beyonce her first album of the year Grammy in February. It was viewed by experts and fans as a reclamation and homage to an overlooked legacy of Black Americans within country music and culture. "I want to thank all of those who came before me that allowed me to be on this stage today," Beyonce said at Monday's show. "I want to thank you, my fans, for allowing me to make this album. Thank you for giving me the creative liberty to challenge myself." Beyonce also performed hits including Formation, Cuff It and Crazy in Love from previous albums. The tour, called the Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin' Circuit Tour, is scheduled to run through July in the US and Europe. Reuters
