'Eyes of Wakanda' episode release date schedule revealed — and it's bad news for the MCU show
"Eyes of Wakanda" has been in the works for a while, with a first look dropping back in June. Now the animated MCU series from the "Black Panther" Marvel franchise is finally coming to Disney Plus next month, and sooner than expected. During San Diego Comic-Con, showrunner Todd Harris revealed to Entertainment Weekly that all four episodes of "Eyes of Wakanda" will be released on Aug. 1 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on Disney Plus. That's a shocking announcement, because we weren't expecting any episodes until weeks later on Aug. 27. It's also probably bad news for the Marvel show, especially when combined with the reveal that this show would get the binge model treatment from Disney Plus — something the streamer rarely does. I'd go as far as to say it means this show is doomed, whether it's good or not. Now, there's one important caveat to mention before we go any further. While EW is reporting that "Eyes of Wakanda" will debut on Disney Plus on Aug. 1, Disney Plus is currently still advertising an. Aug. 27 release date. EW is a reputable outlet, and the information purportedly comes straight from Harris, so we're going to trust it. But I wanted to mention the discrepancy before I get attacked in the comments over it. Regardless of which date the show comes, though, a binge model drop spells almost certain doom for "Eyes of Wakanda." The last show to get this treatment was "Echo," which you probably have forgotten existed and that Marvel wishes it could forget it made. Recently, "Ironheart" also got a similar treatment, with all six episodes dropping over two weeks in 2-episode batches. Again, not a show that Marvel can hold up as a success, though it will be interesting to see if a certain character from the "Ironheart" finale continues their journey in the MCU. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. This streaming bundle deal is a total steal if you're looking to get both Disney Plus and Hulu on a budget. So giving "Eyes of Wakanda" the binge model treatment is probably a death sentence; a sign that Marvel is sending it out to be forgotten. If they have moved the show up with so little fanfare, that probably confirms that Marvel has left it to die. Especially since Kevin Feige recently stated that he partially blames the MCU's Disney Plus shows for Marvel's recent slump. Below is the full "Eyes of Wakanda" release schedule. As previously mentioned, all episodes drop on Aug. 1 on Disney Plus at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. ET. As mentioned already "Eyes of Wakanda" is four episodes long. That's a short season, but not unreasonable or uncommon for a miniseries. Malcolm has been with Tom's Guide since 2022, and has been covering the latest in streaming shows and movies since 2023. He's not one to shy away from a hot take, including that "John Wick" is one of the four greatest films ever made. Here's what he's been watching lately:

'The Gilded Age' Gets Renewed for Season 4 Weeks Before the Season 3 Finale
Every item on this page was chosen by an ELLE editor. We may earn commission on some of the items you choose to buy. HBO has struck gold with The Gilded Age. The period drama from Downton Abbey's Julian Fellowes is enjoying its strongest season yet, with season 3 racking up 20 percent more viewers than season 2 and social engagement rising nearly 60 percent week over week, according to the network. Now, HBO is striking while the iron is hot and ordering another season from the series. (Isn't that what railroad tycoon George Russell would do?) First debuting in 2022, The Gilded Age follows the lives of key upper-class families in New York high society—and the working members of their households—at the turn of the 19th century. As the new money folk wriggle their way into power and the old money fight to maintain dominance, drama ensues. And viewers can thank stars like Carrie Coon, Christine Baranski, Audra McDonald, Cynthia Nixon, and more for bringing it to life. There's no info on the season 4 premiere date, production schedule, or new cast members yet, but we're gathering everything we know so far while we wait. Yes, thankfully. HBO announced the news on July 28, weeks before the season 3 finale. In a statement about the renewal, HBO exec Francesca Orsi praised Fellowes and the cast and crew for creating 'a 'can't-miss it' entertainment experience from week to week, and we're delighted to continue exploring these characters' grand ambitions for what we promise will be a thrilling fourth season.' There is no release date yet. But for context, season 1 premiered in January 2022, season 2 premiered in October 2023, and season 3 (following the writers and actors' strikes) premiered in June 2025. New additions to and departures from the season 4 cast have yet to be announced. In the meantime, here's the official season 3 lineup: Carrie Coon, Christine Baranski, Cynthia Nixon, Morgan Spector, Louisa Jacobson, Denée Benton, Taissa Farmiga, Harry Richardson, Blake Ritson, Ben Ahlers, Ashlie Atkinson, Dylan Baker, Kate Baldwin, Victoria Clark, John Ellison Conlee, Michael Cumpsty, Kelley Curran, Jordan Donica, Jessica Frances Dukes, Claybourne Elder, Amy Forsyth, Jack Gilpin, LisaGay Hamilton, Ward Horton, Simon Jones, Sullivan Jones, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Ben Lamb, Nathan Lane, Andrea Martin, Audra McDonald, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Debra Monk, Hattie Morahan, Donna Murphy, Kristine Nielsen, Paul Alexander Nolan, Kelli O'Hara, Patrick Page, Rachel Pickup, Taylor Richardson, Douglas Sills, Bobby Steggert, Erin Wilhelmi, John Douglas Thompson, Leslie Uggams, Merritt Wever, Bill Camp, and Phylicia Rashad. Comedian Reveals Cost Of Using 1 Taylor Swift Song In His Act, And It's No Joke
Comedian Marc Maron said the cost to use a Taylor Swift song in his standup special was 'doable' within limits. (Watch the video below.) Maron said on Vulture's recent 'Good One' podcast that the sum he paid was for 'up to a minute' of her 2022 song 'Bigger Than The Whole Sky.' 'I think it came out to $50K, around that. ... I did everything I could to get the joke in front of her,' he said. Maron made the deal with Swift's intermediaries after the song's co-producer, Jack Antonoff, encouraged him to try 'proper' channels to reach the pop star before he'd help. But he 'never heard back from him,' Maron said. 'It was doable,' said Maron, who originally thought the payment would have to come out of his own pocket. 'We made enough money. It was tight, but because of the ticket sales for the special, we were able to get that song.' Maron's special, 'Panicked,' is set to debut on HBO on Aug. 1, and Maron said the bit involving the song is in both the opening and closing. The show can also be streamed on HBO Max. 'I have no idea if Taylor Swift saw the bit or not,' he said. Incidentally, the $50,000 that Swift and her associates made from Maron's use of her song is a mere drop in the bucket compared to the estimated $360 million she earned in reclaiming ownership of numerous master recordings recently. Fast-forward to 1:35:08 for the lowdown on Maron's deal with the pop icon: Related...
