Steve Perry sings Journey's ‘Faithfully' for the first time in 30 years — with Willie Nelson
The track marks Perry's first time singing the song in three decades and celebrates the 40th anniversary of Farm Aid, the nonprofit Nelson co-founded to support family farmers.
The collaboration was produced remotely, with Nelson recording at Ronnie's Place in Nashville and Perry at his own studio, Rock the Box, in Los Angeles.
The duet features an ensemble of veteran session musicians, including Mike Rojas on piano, James Mitchell on electric guitar and Nelson's longtime harmonica player Mickey Raphael. An animated video by Patrick Atkins accompanies the release.
'No one has a voice or vocal phrasing anything like Willie Nelson,' Perry said in a statement. 'Singing this duet with Willie has been something I've always wanted to do. After recording 'Faithfully' with Journey, I always felt it would be a great song for Willie too. What a wonderful experience it was to finally sing with Willie. I'm so proud of what we have accomplished together.'
Nelson, echoing the sentiment, called the collaboration 'a meaningful experience.'
'It was a pleasure to collaborate on this song,' he added. 'I'm proud that we could create something meaningful and use it to give back through Farm Aid.'
Journey recruited Perry as its operatic lead singer in 1977 under threat of getting dropped by Columbia Records, and went on to sell nearly 100 million albums globally. But Journey's commercial streak came to an abrupt halt in 1987 when a road-weary Perry announced he was taking a hiatus from the band — then again after a brief reunion from 1995 to 1998.
Perry, who last toured in 1995, has made only sporadic public appearances in the years since.
He gave a speech during the band's 2017 induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame but did not sing.
While he has released solo material — including 2018's 'Traces' and 2021's holiday album 'The Season' — he has largely avoided revisiting Journey's catalog until recently, beginning with a rendition of 'Open Arms' with Dolly Parton in 2023.
The new version of 'Faithfully' is available now on streaming platforms, with all proceeds benefiting Farm Aid.

Jennifer Aniston Says She Mourned Matthew Perry For A ‘Long Time' Before His Death
Jennifer Aniston has revealed that she and the Friends cast had been 'mourning' Matthew Perry long before his death in October 2023, due to his prolonged battle with addiction. Speaking to Vanity Fair in a new cover story, Aniston opened up about the reality of watching her co-star struggle with substance abuse over the years. 'We did everything we could when we could,' she said. 'But it almost felt like we'd been mourning Matthew for a long time because his battle with that disease was a really hard one for him to fight.' Perry, who played Chandler Bing opposite Aniston's Rachel Green, died at age 54 from the 'acute effects' of ketamine. He had been open about his decades-long struggle with drugs and alcohol, detailing his experiences in his 2022 memoir Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing. In his memoir, Perry revealed that Aniston 'was the one who reached out the most' during his journey to sobriety, and that she had confronted him about his drinking patterns. The cast's efforts to support their colleague continued both during the show's run and in the years following its 2004 finale. Despite their attempts to help, Aniston acknowledged the limitations of what friends and family can do when someone is battling addiction. 'As hard as it was for all of us and for the fans, there's a part of me that thinks this is better,' she told the outlet. Perry had previously praised his co-stars' loyalty in his memoir, writing: 'In nature, when a penguin is injured, the other penguins group around it and prop it up until it's better. This is what my co-stars on Friends did for me.' Though he was 18 months sober at the time of his book's release, Perry died in October 2023 due to acute effects of ketamine. Following his death, several people were charged in connection with supplying him with the drug, including Dr. Salvador Plasencia, who pleaded guilty to four counts of distribution of ketamine. After Perry's death, Aniston shared a heartfelt Instagram tribute that included a text message Perry had sent her featuring a photo of them laughing on set, with the message: 'Making you laugh just made my day. It made my day.' In that post, she wrote: 'Having to say goodbye to our Matty has been an insane wave of emotions that I've never experienced before. He was such a part of our DNA. We were always the six of us.' ELLE Collective is a new community of fashion, beauty and culture lovers. A Source Reveals Why Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau Are 'Just Casual'
THE RUNDOWN Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau are keeping things informal as they continue to spend time together. A source speaking with Entertainment Tonight said the pop star and former Canadian prime minister are 'having fun together and getting to know one another.' 'Justin is charismatic and has great energy, which is exactly what Katy wants and needs at the moment,' the source shared. 'For now, things are just casual.' The insider also commented on Perry's dynamic with her ex-fiancé, Orlando Bloom, from whom she split in July after six years of being engaged. The pair also shares a 4-year-old daughter, Daisy. According to the source, Bloom is 'doing his thing and dating,' but 'things still aren't great' between him and Perry. 'Their relationship is a bit awkward and strained,' the insider said. Perry and Trudeau first sparked romance rumors in late July when they were seen together on a three-stop date in Montreal. They were photographed walking in Mount Royal Park, dining at Le Violon, and then having drinks at Taverne Atlantic. Two days later, Trudeau attended Perry's concert in the city with his daughter, Ella-Grace, where fans saw him singing along to 'Firework.' Earlier this month, a source told People, 'They are interested in each other, but it will take a while to see where this goes. She is traveling around the world, and he is figuring out his life now that he is no longer prime minister of Canada, but there is an attraction. They have a lot in common.' 'Their own personal responsibilities could make this relationship move slower than it would,' the source added. 'But there are ways to see the other and still fulfill their parenting responsibilities. For one thing, they each have an ex. So, duties are split in half. And long-distance relationships, while still hard, are possible for these two.' Neither Perry nor Trudeau has publicly commented on the nature of their relationship.
