Isolated shower and storm chances return Thursday
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — After a quiet few days, the weather is forecast to turn active beginning Thursday afternoon. Along with the return of rain and storms, the heat and humidity will be on the rise.
A warm front is forecast to track north Thursday morning before stalling over the region. This will support a continued flow of warm air and deep moisture over the southeast region.
With plenty of higher humidity, warming temperatures, and a stalled boundary in place, daily storm chances will be possible. If you have outdoor plans in the coming days, make sure you are weather-aware.

Storms that can develop on Thursday will bring heavy downpours and frequent lightning. On Friday, storms will be capable of producing strong wind gusts of 40 mph or greater, hail, frequent lightning, and heavy rain. If we see multiple rounds of heavy rain over a single location, then the threat of flooding will increase.
The pop-up showers and storms will begin to develop midday Thursday. The best chance for rain and storms will arrive during the afternoon and evening, the peak heating hours of the day. After sunset, the activity will steadily decrease.
The chance for rain will continue Friday and into Father's Day weekend.
The increase in humidity and heat across the Southeast late week will lead to a moderate heat risk beginning Friday. This heat risk will continue through the weekend and into the start of the week.
Actual air temperatures are forecast to be near 90 degrees, but the increase in humidity will make it feel warmer. The heat index beginning Friday will range from 95 to 100 degrees.
As we head into the upcoming weekend, it will be important to protect yourself from the heat. Make sure to drink plenty of water and electrolytes. Apply multiple layers of sunscreen, wear lightweight and light-colored clothing, and move indoors if you begin experiencing symptoms of heat-related illness.

Chicago weather: Warmer temps and storm chances return Friday
CHICAGO - Tomorrow could have warmer temperatures and stormy skies that will linger into the weekend. Wildfire smoke is once again impacting air quality in Chicagoland. As of this evening, a large portion of the area is considered to be unhealthy for sensitive groups. Wildfire haze will linger tonight and into the weekend. Full Forecast Tonight is expected to be mostly cloudy with lows in the low to mid 60s for most. Temperatures may dip into the upper 50s near the Wisconsin border. Friday will be partly sunny with a chance for scattered showers, especially near and south of I-80. Temperatures will warm to near 80 degrees tomorrow, with cooler conditions expected at the lakefront. A small chance of showers will linger into Saturday, but most areas, especially north of I-80 will likely stay dry under partly sunny skies. Temperatures will be near 80 degrees Saturday afternoon. Our Father's Day forecast has trended in the right direction! As of now, it appears sunnier and warmer. Plan for partly cloudy skies with highs in the low to mid 80s. A stormier weather pattern may take shape next workweek with summer-like temperatures and a bit of humidity. A few stray showers or storms will be possible on Monday and Tuesday, but the best chance of storms looks to be Wednesday and Wednesday night.

Lake City Fire Company welcomes community for annual carnival
The annual Lake City Fire Company Carnival kicked off Thursday evening, with our own Tom Atkins enjoying the festivities. The event features children's rides, craft and food vendors as well as live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Backyard garage catches fire at West 38th Street home Winners of a raffle to benefit the fire company will also be announced. They'll walk away with bonus money if they're at the carnival for the live drawings. The highly anticipated carnival is all for a good cause. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year to support the Lake City Fire Company and provide the funds for operational expenses,' said Brian Mesaros, treasurer for the Lake City Fire Company.
