4 nabbed in Quezon for dynamite fishing

Four individuals were apprehended in Panukulan, Quezon, for dynamite fishing.
According to the Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog on Saturday, the suspects were caught during a joint anti-illegal fishing operation in Sitio Pulong Kiko, Barangay Libo, on Friday.
The four were caught in the act on board a motorized fishing banca and attempted to evade authorities by throwing their catch and paraphernalia overboard.
However, the authorities were able to intercept the suspects and confiscate an unmarked motorized banca, compressor, diving gear, improvised fishing equipment, and storage boxes with an estimated value of P96,020.
The suspects will be charged with violation of the Municipal Fisheries Ordinance Number 02-2005, Section 19.15, which prohibits the use of explosives in fishing. — Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News

LTO: Motorcycles most of 18k unregistered vehicles apprehended in May 2025

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) said Tuesday it apprehended 18,934 unregistered motor vehicle, most of which are motorcycles, for the month of May. According to a statement, the majority were motorcycles with 12,206. There were 3,105 tricycles, at least 1,800 vans, and over 1,000 private vehicles. The remainder is divided between passenger jeepneys, buses and trucks. LTO data revealed that most of the apprehensions occurred in the jurisdiction of LTO- Region 4A with 9,906 apprehensions. This area covers the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon. 'Our campaign will remain aggressive until such time that we compel these motor vehicles to comply with their obligation to have their motor vehicles registered because it is through registration that motor vehicles are checked for road worthiness… This is not only part of your obligation as motor vehicle owners, it is part of your responsibility not only for your safety but also of your family,' said LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor Mendoza II. The LTO official urged motor vehicle owners to register their cars to avoid hefty fines, adding that driving an unregistered motor vehicle has a P10,000 fine. Lindsay Custodio files anti-VAWC case against estranged husband

Lindsay Custodio has filed a case under the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act (Republic Act No. 9262) against her estranged husband, Frederick Cale. This was confirmed by Custodio's legal counsel, Atty. Hazel Meking, in a video statement sent to GMA News Online on Monday. 'Kinompirma natin na na-file na kanina [ni Lindsay] ang kasong Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children laban sa kanyang estranged husband,' Meking said in the video. [We confirm that Lindsay has officially filed a case under the Anti-VAWC law against her estranged husband.] According to the lawyer, it was only recently that Custodio fully understood the extent of the alleged abuse she had endured during their relationship. 'So, ngayon na-file na natin at inaasahan natin na makakakuha tayo ng hustisya para sa kanya dahil grabe ang trauma at ang depresyon at ang psychiatric medication niya na dinanas dito,' Meking said. [We have filed the case, and we are hoping to get justice because she went through severe trauma, depression, and had to take psychiatric medication because of her experience.] According to Meking, Lindsay allegedly suffered sexual abuse, psychological abuse, as well as verbal, emotional, and economic abuse. In March, Boy Abunda on 'Fast Talk with Boy Abunda' that Custodio had traveled to Cebu in connection to a cyber libel complaint filed against her by Cale.
