Viu, the pan-regional OTT video streaming service by PCCW, has announced a strategic collaboration with Azuki, a global innovator in anime-driven decentralised IP and fan engagement, to expand its Web3 initiatives.
The partnership launches this April with Viu streaming Enter the Garden, an anthology created by Azuki in collaboration with creative producer Goro Taniguchi (Code Geass, One Piece Film: Red). This move strengthens Viu's commitment to immersive storytelling and Web3-driven content.
Speaking about the collaboration, Lofai Lo, COO of Viu, said: 'We are thrilled to embark on this journey with Azuki, whose strong digital presence opens doors for Viu to interact with a new generation of highly participatory viewers. By connecting our entertainment services with the dynamic Web3 ecosystem, we are catering to the evolving preferences of today's audiences.'
Alex 'Zagabond' Xu, CEO of Azuki, added: 'Collaborating with Viu amplifies Azuki's presence, introducing Enter the Garden to Viu's vast global audience across 16 markets.'
The second episode, Enter the Garden: Fractured Reflections, is now available on Viu. This installment showcases the artistic brilliance of director Yukio Takatsu, animator Kazuto Nakazawa (Samurai Champloo, Kill Bill (Animation Part)) and series composer Taku Kishimoto (HAIKYU!!, BLUELOCK).
As part of its broader content strategy, Viu will integrate three of Azuki's community NFTs into a spin-off digital comic. This project will be featured on TN7, a new content platform anchored by Viu's first digital comic series, which encourages fan participation and co-creation.
To celebrate the partnership, Viu is hosting an exclusive giveaway. Fans can enter by following Azuki, Viu Singapore and TN7 on X, retweeting the giveaway post, and tagging friends. Prizes include exclusive Azuki merchandise such as the coveted Twin Tigers Jacket and a unique TN7 Digital Pack.

Liwa Content.Driven extends ‘The Ripple Effect' with AI film

Following the launch of The Ripple Effect series for Emirates NBD's #UnitedAgainstFraud initiative, Liwa Dubai unveiled a second instalment – a fully AI-generated narrative film that continues the campaign's focus on scam awareness and, crucially, the importance of reporting fraud. The series is part of a Central Bank-driven anti-fraud initiative in which banks were tasked with creating meaningful, engaging storytelling to cut through public apathy towards scam alerts. The core insight emphasising on The Ripple Effect shows that ignoring a scam doesn't just affect the individual targeted – it can set off a chain reaction of harm. This second chapter builds on that premise while marking a creative shift in production. Unlike the first instalment, which was shot with live actors, the new film was created entirely with AI tools. While many AI-led projects in the creative industry rely on surreal visuals, randomised montage sequences and rapid jump cuts, The Ripple Effect takes a different path – anchoring the work in consistent, human character arcs. This makes it the first AI-driven narrative storytelling project with human characters in the region. The short film plays out as a tense 'what if' scenario: a single unreported scam spirals into a dark, exaggerated sequence of events. The damage grows until a turning point – when someone chooses to report the scam, breaking the cycle. The visual tone and pacing mimic what could have been captured during a realistic two-day on-ground shoot, yet no physical filming took place. 'This isn't AI for the sake of AI,' said Sagar Rege, Director at Liwa 'Most AI films today are essentially montages – visually stunning to look at, but not necessarily built to tell a story. With The Ripple Effect, we wanted to see how far we could push the technology, not to impress, but to move. We ensured we didn't do anything that would not have been possible in a realistic two-day shoot. We wanted to stick to classical storytelling and ensure all departments would work exactly the same way they would on the ground. To tell a story with a clear narrative arc, with characters, consequences, and catharsis. The first Ripple Effect film was shot by us – with real actors. For this second film, we wanted to employ AI to push ourselves and our storytelling abilities to the next level, while staying true to the visual aesthetics of the first.' Backed by Emirates NBD, the #UnitedAgainstFraud platform aims to shift the conversation from simply warning people about scams to actively encouraging them to report incidents. As fraud techniques become more sophisticated, the campaign seeks to humanise the risk and show the tangible consequences of inaction. Matter of Fact: Pushing past the transaction

Marketing in its current state is becoming formulaic, with companies emphasising seamless communication while their messaging focuses more on transactions and consumption rather than connection, especially in digital and social media. However, Gen Z, being the elusive and sceptical audience, sees through this. They want brands to offer identity and experiences, and more notably, connections. Vans' recent 'Always Pushing' campaign demonstrates effective and targeted branding. By embracing the lifestyle the brand embodies, Vans organised music and skateboarding pop-ups at key locations, leaving a lasting impression. The success led Vans to transform some retail spaces into permanent skateparks, turning stores from transactional environments into community hubs that reflect their audience's passions. The path is clear: to engage modern audiences, brands must move beyond sales-focused communication. Storytelling should centre on how the brand experience enriches lives. Successful communication aligns with preferences for value-driven, discovery-led interactions, not just promoting products. Connection, not consumption, is what leaves a lasting impression. GAME CHANGER Meta opens the message At its recent Conversations conference, Meta introduced new AI-driven features designed for businesses to enhance direct consumer marketing. The updates include expanded WhatsApp and Instagram integrations, along with collaborations with platforms such as Shopify and WooCommerce. These changes aim to help brands connect with broader audiences more easily, blending e-commerce with real-time interaction for greater engagement. BREAKING THE NET Racing into the blockbuster lane Apple's in-house film F1: The Movie starring Brad Pitt, has seen the tech giant promote the feature film by tapping into its ecosystem. The tech giant used Wallet push notifications, Apple Pay ticket discounts, and even got co-star Damson Idris to drive an F1 car from the film through Manhattan for the 2025 Met Gala, gaining additional viral mainstream attention from the stunt. #NOT MrBeast hits pause on AI YouTube's most-subscribed creator, Jimmy 'MrBeast' Donaldson, delayed the launch of his ViewStats AI tool suite following backlash from fellow creators. Critics argued that the tools, designed to generate thumbnails and captions from other creators' content, could harm YouTube's creator ecosystem. Donaldson acknowledged the concerns, withdrew the announcement, and promised to refocus ViewStats on supporting emerging creators.

Viu, the pan-regional OTT platform under PCCW, and South Korea's SBS network have announced the return of the hit drama Taxi Driver for a third season, set to premiere globally (excluding South Korea and mainland China) in Q4 2025 as a Viu Original. Building on the popularity of its previous seasons, the new chapter continues the saga while expanding into new international territories and showcasing a broader range of Asian talent. Season 3 sees the return of Lee Je-hoon as Kim Do-gi, the complex and relentless vigilante at the heart of the series. Cast members Kim Eui-sung, Pyo Ye-jin, Jang Hyuk-jin and Bae Yoo-ram also return, bringing back the beloved Rainbow Taxi team. The storyline, crafted by writer Oh Sang-ho and director Kang Bo-seung, promises the group's most perilous missions yet. Joining the ensemble is Edan Lui from Hong Kong's top boy group MIRROR, who makes his Korean drama debut in a key role that forms an alliance with Do-gi. Park Jeong-hoon, CEO of Studio S (in-house production arm of SBS Media Group), said: 'We are delighted to introduce Taxi Driver 3 through our trusted and long-standing partnership with Viu, a platform with strong global influence and reach.
