A legal case challenging the accuracy of the 2024 US Presidential election is gaining traction. The lawsuit was filed by SMART Legislation , the advocacy arm of SMART Elections, a nonpartisan watchdog organization and it focuses on alleged voting discrepancies in Rockland County, New York, reports NewsWeek. The lawsuit is seeking a full, hand recount of ballots cast in the presidential and U.S. Senate races in Rockland County. A hearing has been scheduled for September 22.When the results of the US elections were declared in November last year, a shift towards the Republican was seen across the country – even in the deeply Democratic stronghold of New York City.In May, New York Supreme Court Judge Rachel Tanguay ruled in open court that the allegations were serious enough to warrant the discovery process. The lawsuit could raise questions and debate about the 2024 US Presidential election but it won't change the result as Congress has certified the results declaring President Donald Trump as the winner. The lawsuit comes at time when unconfirmed reports claimed that voting machines were secretly altered before ballots were cast during elections in November. According to the Dissent in Bloom Substack, Pro V&V—a federally accredited testing laboratory that approved "significant" changes to ES&S voting machines used in over 40% of U.S. counties—"vanished from public view" following the election.Lulu Friesdat, the founder and executive director of SMART Legislation, said in a statement: "There is clear evidence that the Senate results are incorrect, and there are statistical indications that the presidential results are highly unlikely."If the results are incorrect, it is a violation of the constitutional rights of each person who voted in the 2024 Rockland County general election. The best way to determine if the results are correct is to examine the paper ballots in a full public, transparent hand recount of all presidential and Senate ballots in Rockland County. We believe it's vitally important, especially in the current environment, to be absolutely confident about the results of the election."A formal complaint alleged that more voters submitted sworn affidavits claiming they voted for independent U.S. Senate candidate Diane Sare than were recorded and certified by the Rockland County Board of Elections, raising questions about the official results. The complaint also points to several statistical anomalies in the presidential election returns, including districts where hundreds of voters selected Democratic Senate candidate Kirsten Gillibrand, yet not a single vote was recorded for Democratic presidential candidate and former Vice President Kamala Harris.Max Bonamente, a professor of physics and astronomy at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and the author of the Statistics and Analysis of Scientific Data, said in a paper that the 2024 presidential election results were statistically highly unlikely in four of the five towns in Rockland County when compared with 2020 results.Max Bonamente said in a paper on the voting data from Rockland County: "These data would require extreme sociological or political causes for their explanation, and would benefit from further assurances as to their fidelity."Costas Panagopoulos, a professor of political science at Northeastern University, told Newsweek: "Statistical irregularities in elections should always be investigated, but the sources of such inconsistencies, which can include error or miscalculation, are not always nefarious. Still, scrutinizing election results can strengthen confidence in elections. Mistakes can happen."In this case, the drop-off inconsistencies could reflect the idiosyncratic nature of the 2024 presidential election cycle. Alone, statistical comparisons to previous cycles cannot provide definitive proof of wrongdoing."In any case, it does not appear that any of these inconsistencies would be sufficient to change the outcomes of any of the elections in question in New York state. That does not mean they should not be scrutinized, and any errors, if verified, should be corrected for the historical record. But there is not necessarily any need to invalidate any of these elections in these jurisdictions."

‘Apologise right now': Rep. Fallon snaps at Dem Gov. Tim Walz for comparing ICE agents to 'Gestapo' - The Economic Times Video
Tensions exploded during a fiery House Oversight hearing as Rep. Pat Fallon demanded an apology from Minnesota Governor Tim Walz for previously comparing ICE agents to the 'Gestapo.' The hearing, originally scheduled to address sanctuary city policies, came just days after violent clashes erupted in downtown Los Angeles. Governors Tim Walz (MN), Kathy Hochul (NY), and JB Pritzker (IL) were all called to testify, facing intense scrutiny from Republican lawmakers over their immigration stances and sanctuary policies.

200 Marines moved into Los Angeles to protect federal property, personnel
After a week of tense protests over the federal immigration raids, about 200 Marines have moved into Los Angeles and will protect federal property and personnel, a military commander said Friday. Maj Gen Scott Sherman, commander of Task Force 51 who is overseeing the 4,700 troops deployed, said Friday that the Marines have finished training on civil disturbance. Sherman said the Marines would take over operations at noon local time at the federal building in downtown Los Angeles. 'I would like to emphasize that the soldiers will not participate in law enforcement activities. Rather, they'll be focused on protecting federal law enforcement personnel,' Sherman said. The development comes a day after the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals temporarily blocked a federal judge's order that had directed President Donald Trump to return control of National Guard troops to California, shortly after a federal judge had ruled the Guard deployment was illegal and both violated the Tenth Amendment and exceeded Trump's statutory authority. The Marines will join some 2,000 National Guard troops that have been on the streets of the city since last week when immigration raids set off protests. Over the past three nights the demonstrations have been largely peaceful with only a handful of arrests mostly due to people failing to disperse. California Gov Gavin Newsom has called the troop deployment a 'serious breach of state sovereignty' and a power grab by Trump, and he has gone to court to stop it. The president has cited a legal provision that allows him to mobilise federal service members when there is 'a rebellion or danger of a rebellion against the authority of the Government of the United States'. Under the Posse Comitatus Act, active-duty forces are prohibited by law from conducting law enforcement. Sherman said the National Guard soldiers at that location will transition to provide protection to federal law enforcement agents but not participate in law enforcement activities. Sherman said the US Marine Corps is responsible for guarding US embassies overseas so they are well-trained on how to defend a federal building. Some National Guard troops have protected immigration agents making arrests but Sherman said 'we have had no soldier or Marine detain anyone'. The National Guard troops that were protecting federal property will transition to providing protection to more federal law enforcement officials, Sherman said. States face questions on deploying troops With more demonstrations expected over the weekend, and the possibility that Trump could send troops to other states for immigration enforcement, governors are weighing what to do. Texas Gov Greg Abbott, a Republican, has put 5,000 National Guard members on standby in cities where demonstrations are planned. In other Republican-controlled states, governors have not said when or how they may deploy troops. A group of Democratic governors earlier signed a statement this week calling Trump's deployments 'an alarming abuse of power'. Hundreds arrested in LA protests There have been about 470 arrests since Saturday, the vast majority of which were for failing to leave the area at the request of law enforcement, according to the police department. There have been a handful of more serious charges, including for assault against officers and for possession of a Molotov cocktail and a gun. Nine officers have been hurt, mostly with minor injuries.

Who is Senator Rand Paul's wife whom Donald Trump calls ' beautiful' amid 'petty clash' over budget?
Rand Paul said he only agrees with Donald Trump when the president calls his wife beautiful. Kentucky Senator Rand Paul has been at odds with President Donald Trump on the spending bill as Paul sided with Elon Musk on this issue of calling the bill abominable. But his wife, political consultant Kelley Paul, appeared to be a peacemaker as Trump called him 'beautiful' and Rand Paul said this is the only thing about which he agrees with Donald Trump. Amid the ongoing clash, Rand Paul said his family got disinvited from the annual congressional picnic at the White House that was held yesterday. Paul called it very petty and said he had planned to bring his wife, son, daughter-in-law and 6-month-old grandson to the event. "I think I'm the first senator in the history of the United States to be uninvited to the White House picnic," the Kentucky senator told reporters. "Every Democrat will be invited, every Republican will be invited, but I will be the only one disallowed to come on the grounds of the White House." "I just find this incredibly petty," Paul said. "The level of immaturity is beyond words." "They've decided they want to declare war on my family and exclude us from the White House," he added, saying he was given no explanation. "We're just not welcome." Trump responded to the grievance and said the family 'of course' invited. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo "Of course Senator Rand Paul and his beautiful wife and family are invited to the BIG White House Party tonight. He's the toughest vote in the history of the U.S. Senate, but why wouldn't he be?" the president wrote. "Besides, it gives me more time to get his Vote on the Great, Big, Beautiful Bill." Later Thursday, Paul shared a photo of his grandson wearing a red Make America Great Again hat and said "Turns out my grandson is actually invited to the Congressional Picnic! He is ready!" Trump told reporters that Paul has always been a friend and the hardest vote in the history of US senate.
