Al Dhafra Youth Council organises first youth circle at Liwa Date Festival 2025
ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)Al Dhafra Youth Council, in collaboration with the Nafis Youth Council, the UAE Youth Council for Entrepreneurship, and the UAE Youth Council for Agriculture, organised the first youth circle as part of the Liwa Dates Festival 2025.Held under the theme 'Agricultural Innovation.. An Opportunity for Youth in Entrepreneurship', the circle saw the attendance of key decision-makers, government officials, and young Emirati entrepreneurs working in the agricultural sector.The circle was attended by Dr Sultan Bin Saif Al Neyadi, UAE Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority; Ghannam Al Mazrouei, Secretary General of the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council (Nafis); and Moaza Al Nasri, Chief Executive Officer of the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development. The attendees expressed their support for youth participation in further advancing the agricultural sector, and strengthening sustainability pathways.The circle highlighted agriculture as a promising path for youth entrepreneurship, particularly in Al Dhafra region, and featured discussions of real-life experiences of young Emiratis who have successfully launched innovative projects after working in the private sector. Key topics included structural challenges in the agricultural market, and the need for targeted training and financial support to enable youth.A group of Emirati youth shared their inspiring entrepreneurial journeys, underscoring the importance of field experience in understanding the local market and launching projects that contribute to economic development and sustainable growth.Several initiatives aimed at empowering youth and enhancing their presence in the agricultural sector were announced during the circle. These included the announcement of an agricultural guidebook by the Emirates Youth Council for Agriculture, the designation of dedicated spaces for young entrepreneurs to showcase their products at upcoming agricultural festivals, and providing job opportunities for youth in agricultural fields within the private sector.
The event concluded with the Youth Councils extending their gratitude to all participating and supporting entities and reaffirming its commitment to organising future circles that foster meaningful dialogue between youth and decision-makers, paving the way for a more sustainable agricultural future in the UAE.

28,000 individuals benefit from FTA's awareness events during H1
The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has reaffirmed its continued efforts to enhance and diversify its awareness campaigns and communication channels to effectively reach all stakeholders involved in tax implementation. This aims to strengthen engagement with taxpayers and beneficiaries across all emirates of the UAE, while highlighting the Authority's continuously expanding range of services. The FTA stated that over the past year and the first half of the current year, several innovative campaigns, programmes, and activities have been launched to meet the tax awareness needs of the business community and various segments of Emirati society. The FTA announced that it conducted 85 awareness activities during the first half of 2025, benefiting 28,000 participants, marking a 21% increase compared to 70 activities held during the same period in 2024. The increased number of workshops aims to ensure there are no gaps in tax-related knowledge. According to the Authority, 53 virtual events were conducted in the first half of 2025, compared to 43 in the same period in 2024, while 24 in-person events were held, down slightly from 27 events during the first half of last year. The FTA confirmed that it continues to advance its plans in support of the second cycle of the Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme. These efforts are focused on enhancing digital integration with relevant authorities, continuously improving users' digital experiences. The Authority also explained that its awareness activities, including its Customer Councils, which are held across all emirates, focus on organising consultative sessions and dialogues with representatives from the business community and stakeholders. These sessions are designed to gather input and suggestions regarding the FTA's initiatives and projects aimed at reducing unnecessary tax procedures, eliminating repetitive or redundant requirements, enhancing government integration, and promoting data sharing. Zahra Al Dahmani, Director of Taxpayer Services at the FTA, stated, 'As part of our ongoing efforts to diversify awareness tools and communication channels in line with current needs, we continue to engage the business community by incorporating their ideas and suggestions into the FTA's sustainable development plans. These efforts are aimed at maintaining the highest levels of efficiency, quality, and flexibility while simplifying and streamlining procedures.' She added, 'The FTA has launched new awareness campaigns and programmes to introduce its services and initiatives and has continued to expand its core awareness activities. Key initiatives introduced include the 'Tax Talks' workshops, which benefited 72 participants through three sessions; two workshops on 'Tax Certificates', which served 1,330 participants; six workshops on the 'EmaraTax' digital tax services platform, which attracted 2,044 participants; and two workshops on 'Tax Updates', with 1,824 participants during the first half of 2025.' Al Dahmani emphasised that the FTA's awareness efforts highlight the ongoing legislative and procedural developments in the tax system, as well as the various digital transformation projects launched by the Authority. These projects aim to accelerate service delivery, reduce paper-based processes, minimise documentation requirements, and provide more accessible and efficient services all with the goal of delivering tangible results in a short timeframe. Dubai's 1270 EV charging points enhance its leadership in sustainable mobility
3 Aug 2025 19:35 DUBAI (ALETIHAD)His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has revealed that Dubai now has a network of over 1,270 electric vehicle (EV) charging points across the emirate. This includes charging points provided by DEWA in collaboration with its partners from both the public and private Tayer affirmed that DEWA continues to advance green mobility and support Dubai's plans to transition to environmentally friendly transport, in line with national efforts to increase the share of electric and hybrid vehicles to 50% of all vehicles on UAE roads by 2050.'In line with the vision of the wise leadership to make Dubai a global model for smart urban development by advancing green mobility, we launched the EV Green Charger initiative in 2014, the region's first public charging infrastructure network for electric vehicles. We continue this pioneering approach by providing innovative digital services for EV charging and encouraging private sector investment in Dubai's green mobility infrastructure through the launch of a comprehensive licensing system for the development and operation of EV charging infrastructure across the emirate. This is especially relevant as the number of EVs in Dubai reached over 40,600 by the end of the first half of 2025. This supports the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050,' said Al Tayer. Regulatory Framework for EV Charging Point Operators The Regulatory Framework for EV Charging Infrastructure in Dubai and Licensing of Independent Charge Point Operators, developed by DEWA, addresses current and future requirements, ensuring that Dubai remains at the forefront of green mobility framework includes two tracks, as Dubai is witnessing both the direct development of public charging infrastructure by DEWA and its subsidiaries, and infrastructure development by independent charging point operators licensed by DEWA. Expanding Network of EV Charging Stations DEWA's EV Green Charger network includes ultra-fast, fast, public, and wall-box chargers. To further expand this infrastructure, DEWA signed an agreement with Parkin to install charging stations in prime locations managed by Parkin, enhancing the user customers, including unregistered users, can utilise EV charging through the guest mode feature. Customers can also locate stations via DEWA's smart app, official website and 14 other digital platforms. Additionally, DEWA launched the 'Dubai EV Community Hub' website ( to promote EV adoption and serve as a central source of information on the local EV ecosystem.

Abu Dhabi reports non-oil foreign trade growth of 34.7% in H1 2025
3 Aug 2025 15:09 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)Abu Dhabi's non-oil foreign trade increased 34.7 per cent to Dh195.4 billion during the first half of 2025, compared to Dh145 billion during the same period in 2024, according to statistics released by the General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs (Abu Dhabi Customs).The growth reflects the resilience and dynamism of Abu Dhabi's economy, supported by the efficiency of its infrastructure and advanced logistics services, which have helped facilitate trade flows and enhance the smooth movement of goods through border the first six months of 2025, Abu Dhabi's non-oil exports grew by 64 per cent, reaching Dh78.5 billion, up from Dh47.9 billion during the first half of rose by 15 per cent to Dh80 billion, compared to Dh70 billion, and re-exports registered a 35 per cent increase, surpassing Dh36 billion, compared to Dh26.6 billion in the first half of increase in non-oil foreign trade underscores the strength of Abu Dhabi's economic diversification strategies, forward-looking policies, and significant investments across key sectors.
