Walker-Peters and Lumley to leave Saints
Southampton defender Kyle Walker-Peters and goalkeeper Joe Lumley will leave the club when their contracts expire at the end of the month. Walker-Peters, who has two England caps, made 202 appearances for the Saints and scored six goals during his time at St Mary's. After initially joining on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, he signed a permanent contract in 2020.He played 46 league games in 2023-24 as Saints were promoted to the Premier League, and 35 last season, providing two top-flight assists.Keeper Lumley arrived from Middlesbrough in the summer of 2023 and made eight appearances for Saints, with two clean sheets. He started all four of Southampton's FA Cup ties in 2023-24 and made his Premier League debut away at Brighton last term.The 30-year-old has also previously played for Queens Park Rangers and Reading. Saints announced earlier on Wednesday that Adam Lallana has decided to call time on his playing career and announced his retirement. Last season he only played five time as his side were relegated to the Championship, towards the back end of the campaign he was heavily involved in the coaching set-up at the club.

by BBC Radio Solent's Southampton commentator Adam Blackmore:When Kyle initially arrived at Saints on loan in 2020, he was a shy young man who needed more first-team football to gain experience, with his opportunities at Spurs limited.By the summer he'd impressed Ralph Hasenhuttl enough to become a full-time Saint, and I can't think of many players in the ensuing five years who've performed as consistently as Kyle at a high level, or who have given better service than him.I've seen him grow as a person and a player during his time at the club, he's won an England cap, and he's become a gifted versatile full-back who can operate on either side of the defence, and loves nothing more than to drive forward into dangerous areas.But more than anything I think of how well he's carried himself through all the trials and tribulations he's witnessed and been part of at Saints, he's been a credit to himself and the club.And I've never seen a player get kicked as much as Walker-Peters in the Championship two seasons ago as he played a crucial role in Saints' promotion.

Ohio's own career hasn't quite followed the same meteoric rise, but the forward is working hard at forging his own path in Europe. The 6ft Bagsman left Man City's academy in 2019 in favour of a move to RB Leipzig's development side - turning down a pro deal with Pep Guardiola 's side in search of more first-team opportunities elsewhere. Over four years with Leipzig, Ohio never managed to break into the firs team fold, ultimately being sent on a flurry of loans around Europe. That was until he penned a permanent switch to Belgian side Standard Liege in 2022, going on to make 45 appearances and score six goals for the club. Ohio spent the second half of the 23/24 season on loan in the Championship with Hull City, scoring three times in eight games. Last summer he left Belgium in a permanent switch to Utrecht, where he helped the Dutch side secure a place in the Europa League this season. Ohio still has hopes of returning to England and making it over here, explaining: "I chose to go abroad when I was quite young and I had to make a decision for me. I'm really grateful to both clubs [Man Utd and Man City]. 'I had a great time and most of my mates are playing in the Championship or in the Premier League, and doing so good. 'I hope to follow and make a name for myself in England. I think it's the ambition of all the boys, to play as high as we can." While reaching the lofty heights his mate Bellingham has isn't out of Ohio's sights either, claiming that seeing it up close make him believe he can achieve it too. He added: "You know it's possible because your friend's got there. So anything is possible and everyone's journey is different. The jibe is also a reference to the t-shirts United had made before the final took place, ready for if they won. The United shirts also read: "Lads, it's Tottenham," and featured the Europa League trophy as well as the date of the final. Fergie uttered the famous phrase during a match between Tottenham and United in 2001. The Red Devils trailed 3-0 at half-time before going on to win 5-3 after Ferguson reminded them at the break: "Lads, it's Tottenham."
