Vikings WR depth chart: How Jordan Addison suspension impacts Minnesota
The NFL announced Tuesday it had suspended Jordan Addison for the first three games of the season for violating the league's Substances of Abuse Policy. The suspension stems from a 2024 incident during which Addison was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Addison's absence will create a temporary void in Minnesota's receiving corps opposite Justin Jefferson. Here's a look at the most likely candidates from the Vikings' wide receiver depth chart that could fill that hole.
Who is Jordan Addison's backup?
Jalen Nailor may not be Addison's true backup, but the Vikings' No. 3 receiver figures to see the largest increase in opportunities with Addison out of the lineup.
Addison missed two games during the 2024 NFL season in Weeks 2 and 3 while dealing with an ankle injury. In those contests, Nailor played 104 of a possible 117 snaps while logging a combined six catches for 85 yards and two touchdowns.
Logging similar production would give Nailor flex appeal across fantasy football formats. That said, it's worth wondering whether his ceiling will be capped if the Vikings try to ease first-year starter J.J. McCarthy into action as part of a run-heavy offense.

Vikings WR depth chart
The Vikings haven't released an unofficial depth chart ahead of their Week 1 preseason matchup with the Houston Texans. That said, their top three receivers are holdovers from the previous season, so the battle for roles and reps is likely to occur behind them.
Below is a look at the top-five projected receivers on Minnesota's depth chart.
Justin Jefferson*
Jordan Addison*
Jalen Nailor*
Rondale Moore
Tai Felton
* Denotes starter.
Among the backups, Moore would figure to have the best chance to step into a larger role in Addison's absence. The 25-year-old missed the entire 2024 NFL season due to a knee injury but logged a career-best 530 scrimmage yards during the 2023 season.
Felton – a 6-2, third-round rookie out of Maryland – could also see more playing time if the Vikings want a wide-out with more size than the 5-7 Moore.
The Vikings carried six receivers into Week 1 last season, so Addison's suspension could allow another two of the team's depth receivers to make the roster. In addition to the six listed above, Minnesota has practice squad holdovers Lucky Jackson, Jeshaun Jones and Thayer Thomas on its 90-man roster along with newcomers Silas Bolden, Dontae Fleming, Tim Jones, Robert Lewis and Myles Price.

Emma Raducanu claims straight-sets win to reach Cincinnati Open third round
Emma Raducanu is through to the third round of the Cincinnati Open after a straight-sets win over Olga Danilovic. The British number one marked her first match since Rafael Nadal's former coach Francis Roig joined her team with a confident 6-3 6-2 victory. Roig may not have been overly impressed when Raducanu was broken to love in the first game, but the 2021 US Open champion responded well. After four breaks of serve between the pair in the opening six games, Raducanu came from 30-0 down to grab another for 5-3. She had won seven points in a row to bring up three set points and took the first with an ace. In the second, Raducanu gave her Serbian opponent nothing for free, drawing out errors and eventually earning a break for 3-2. She did not drop another game, wrapping up a fine victory in an hour and 20 minutes. The 22-year-old could face world number one Aryna Sabalenka in the third round in a repeat of her narrow Wimbledon defeat last month. Earlier, Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek eased through with a 6-1 6-4 victory over Anastasia Potapova. Australian Open champion Madison Keys saved two match points before beating Eva Lys 1-6 6-3 7-6 (1). In the ATP draw Jannik Sinner, playing his first match since claiming a maiden Wimbledon title, dismantled Daniel Elahi Galan 6-1 6-1.

Mariano Rivera injured his Achilles during Yankees' Old-Timers Game, according to Roger Clemens
Anyone who might snicker at the competitiveness or athletic endeavor of an old-timers' game should consider what apparently happened to New York Yankees Hall of Fame closer Mariano Rivera during Saturday's alumni exhibition. While appearing in the WFAN broadcast booth with Suzyn Waldman and Dave Sims, Roger Clemens revealed that Rivera hurt his Achilles tendon during the Yankees Old-Timers Game on Saturday afternoon. Rivera was being evaluated at a hospital, according to Clemens. A Yankees spokesperson confirmed that Rivera did indeed hurt his Achilles and was examined by trainers. But the severity of the injury was not revealed, via the New York Daily News' Gary Phillips. Here is the audio from the WFAN broadcast, via Talkin' Yanks on X. "It was a fun day until we just heard about Mariano. Mariano hurt his Achilles," Clemens said. "I don't know what was going on. We all thought it was a hamstring, but I think it's a little worse than that. I think he's at the hospital now." Clemens then joked that he wanted Waldman and Sims to change the name of "Old-Timers Game" to "Alumni Game" because he and his fellow teammates weren't that old. Rivera is 55 years old, while Clemens is 63. When Rivera's injury occurred isn't certain. Rivera hit a single off former teammate Andy Pettitte during the exhibition and appeared fine after running to first base. Prior to Saturday's Old-Timers/Alumni Game at Yankee Stadium, played before the Yankees faced the Houston Astros, it appeared that Rivera would make news by telling reporters that he planned to speak with current closer Devin Williams and offer advice regarding his recent struggles. Rivera did not reveal what exactly he planned to say to Williams, but indicated that it was important for relievers — especially closers — to forget about a bad outing as quickly as possible and maintain confidence. 'Forget about it,' Rivera said, via the New York Post. 'You can't do nothing about it. What's done is done. Move on and be confident. You have to be confident in yourself. If you're not confident in yourself, why are you playing the sport?' Williams allowed three runs in the Yankees' 5-3 defeat to the Astros on Friday, serving up a 2-run homer to Taylor Trammell in the 10th inning. In his past five appearances, Williams has given up eight runs in 4 2/3 innings. He has allowed 28 earned runs this season, more than he gave up during the past three seasons combined.
