This past weekend's Byron Nelson Classic in at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas brought out professional golf's biggest stars, including Scottie Scheffler who shot 31-under to beat second place finisher Erik van Rooyen by eight strokes.
Scheffler held off a rally attempt from Jordan Spieth and outstanding performances from several other players to hold onto a lead that he took early on during the event and never looked back from.

Tommy Fleetwood vs. Keegan Bradley at the Travelers Championship Had Big Ryder Cup Energy

Tommy Fleetwood vs. Keegan Bradley at the Travelers Championship Had Big Ryder Cup Energy originally appeared on Athlon Sports. A lot was on the line on Sunday at the Travelers Championship. Tommy Fleetwood was chasing his first PGA Tour title after 41 career top ten finishes without a win. Keegan Bradley was looking for a win and the signature event points that come along with it, which would inch him closer to qualifying outright to play on his own Ryder Cup team this September at Bethpage Black. He would become the first playing Ryder Cup captain since Arnold Palmer last held that role in 1963. Advertisement These two storylines collided in dramatic fashion as the 34 year-old European Ryder Cup veteran and 39 year-old American Ryder Cup Captain teed off together in the final group on Sunday at the Travelers Championship. What started off as the final round of a stroke play tournament quickly started to feel like match play between Fleetwood and Bradley, as noted by commentators during the CBS broadcast of the tournament, especially as the final group made their way down the finishing holes. Keegan Bradley gives a thumbs up at the Travelers Championship golf tournament.© Bill Streicher-Imagn Images 'Mini Ryder Cup moment right now,' explained golf commentator, Frank Nobilo, as chants of 'U.S.A! U.S.A!' erupted from the crowd on the 16th hole following Bradley's tee shot and continued while Fleetwood was getting ready to hit. 'Tommy's experienced that a lot,' Nobilo continued, referring to chants from the opposing team during Ryder Cup matches. Advertisement CBS golf commentator Trevor Immelman even suggested the 'U.S.A.' chants might help Fleetwood, calling out how the Europeans have such a great record at the Ryder Cup and are able to use a fired up crowd to help focus on the shot at hand. The match play moments continued through the 72nd hole, where Bradley was one down with one to play, in match play terms, and delivered a devastating blow to Fleetwood with a clutch birdie, making his putt on top of Fleetwood's missed putt on the exact same line. One thing is for certain, though. If the 2025 Ryder Cup is anything like the exchange between Bradley and Fleetwood in the final round of the Travelers Championship, we're in for a wild ride at Bethpage Black come September. PGA Tour Event Loses Star as Past Champion Bows Out

PGA Tour Event Loses Star as Past Champion Bows Out originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The field for the PGA Tour's 2025 Rocket Classic has already been shaken up with six players withdrawing ahead of Thursday's first round. With less than 48 hours before the event's start, a fan favorite and past champion has now joined this list, becoming the seventh player to withdraw from the tournament. Advertisement In a communication from the PGA Tour on X, Tony Finau has withdrawn from the 2025 Rocket Classic. The reason has not yet been disclosed. The 35-year-old's exit marks a major blow to the tournament, as it loses one of its prior champions. Finau dominated the field at Detroit Golf Club in 2022 with a five-shot victory. Tony Finau during the first round of the U.S. OpenBill Streicher-Imagn Images Following recovery from knee surgery in October 2024, Finau has yet to hit his stride this season. The six-time PGA Tour winner has just one top ten finish in 2025, which came at the Genesis Invitational in February. Finau missed the cut at the Masters but had a solid showing at the PGA Championship, finishing tied for 19th. His withdrawal from the Rocket Classic marks his first drop-out from competition in 2025. The Rocket Classic is a full-field event with 500 FedExCup points up for grabs for the winner. In Finau's place, Joseph Bramlett, 37, will be joining the field. Advertisement Finau's exit opens the door for the remaining field to capitalize on the event. All eyes will be on U.S. Ryder Cup Captain Keegan Bradley, who pulled off a stunner last week at the Travelers Championship, edging out Tommy Fleetwood and Russell Henley with a birdie on the 72nd hole to win by one stroke. Georgia Native, 36, Celebrates After Nailing $720K Chip-In During Travelers Championship

Georgia Native, 36, Celebrates After Nailing $720K Chip-In During Travelers Championship originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The implications of one shot are on full display each week on the PGA Tour, where a single stroke can make the difference between making the cut or not, winning the tournament or not. Perhaps one of the largest impacts a single stroke can have is on the payout at the end of a tournament. Advertisement Five-time PGA Tour winner Russell Henley tipped the scales in his favor on the 72nd hole of the Travelers Championship in spectacular fashion. The 36-year-old Georgia native stepped on the 18th tee of the final round tied for third place, two shots behind the solo leader Tommy Fleetwood and one shot behind playing partner and U.S. Ryder Cup Captain Keegan Bradley. Henley found the rough just off the green with his approach shot and was faced with a 51-foot chip to the hole. If Fleetwood and Bradley both made pars, and Henley got up and down for par, Henley would have finished tied for third place. Russell Henley during the final round of the Travelers Streicher-Imagn Images But golf is unpredictable, and against all odds, the leaderboard would make a seismic shift in a matter of minutes. Henley didn't just get up and down from the greenside rough, he chipped in for birdie. Fleetwood three-putted for bogey and Bradley made his birdie putt, winning the tournament outright and completely rearranging the top of the leaderboard. At the end of the day, Henley moved himself into a tie for second place with Fleetwood, earning him $1,760,000. Advertisement Had Henley not chipped in and simply gotten up and down for par, he would have finished in a tie for third place with Harris English and Jason Day and taken home $1,040,000. The difference in payout for Henley making that chip for birdie vs. getting up and down for par? $720,000. Not bad for one shot. Ultimately, the miraculous shot may have been a cosmic reward for Henley, who called a one-stroke penalty on himself during Friday's second round. He noticed his ball moved during a shot. Henley told reporters he hoped the moment would teach his son a lesson about integrity.
