Stereophonics star Kelly Jones ditches junk food and alcohol from tour rider
The Stereophonics frontman has confessed that he opts for healthier snacks backstage in order to make sure that his jeans still fit him.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper's Bizarre column ahead of Stereophonics' headline slot at the Isle of Wight festival this weekend, Kelly said: "The Nineties were crazy – a totally different social situation. It's like another planet now.
"I think there are some things on our rider that are still the same as back then – because nobody has bothered to change it.
"There's always beer and wine. It used to be 12 boxes of pizza and a crate of lager. But when your jeans stop fitting you, you've got to get that right – those requests don't work at 50!"
The Dakota artist revealed that the rockers now have gym equipment and organic food ready for them when they come off stage.
Kelly explained: "Let's say the takeaway order at the end of the night is a little more extravagant and healthier these days.
"Now there's more gym gear backstage – that was definitely not there in the Nineties.
"Like a weight bench and stuff. It sits there – it gathers clothes a lot.
"We all still travel on the bus together, we all still go out for dinner together, we go for a drink after together.
"Thankfully, we all get on – not every band does – and we've had the same crew for 25 years, so it's a family-orientated vibe."
Meanwhile, Kelly revealed earlier this year that he turned down the chance to see a Stereophonics tribute band who have a lead singer called "Belly Jones".
The Welsh rocker describes it as a privilege when people cover the band's music but chose not to attend a working men's club in his homeland to watch the tribute act over Easter.
The 51-year-old musician told The Dave Berry Breakfast Show on Absolute Radio in April: "I wake up on Sunday mornings, and people send me clips of people at weddings and bars and pubs singing my stuff a lot.
"And when I went home for Easter this weekend to see my family in Wales, my cousin said, 'Do you want to come up to the working man's club?' I said, 'Why? What's happening? And she said, 'There's a Stereophonics tribute band playing.'"
He continued: "I think the singer, he's a big guy, he's called Belly Jones. So I said, 'No'. My missus was like, 'No, let's go.' Take the kids, have a good night."

She said: 'I've gone to more breast augmentation consults than I would like to admit. "Like, every time I hear about the new boob guy, I go and I have a consult. And I'm like, 'What? What will you do?' And they always, like, say all the right things and do all the right things. "And, you know, because our cell phones listen to us … It pops up. And I scroll through, like, so many horror stories of boob jobs.' Meanwhile, a lot of her friends have had breast augmentations in the past, but it doesn't stop there. She explained: "They've had multiple because, like, every ten years or so, you have to, like, swap them out. "So let's say I get them at 55. Right? That means at 65, I have to swap them out. At 75, I'm on my second pair? Let's say I live to 85, I'm going under the knife again?"

Darius Campbell Danesh' ex-wife remembers him on third anniversary of death
Darius Campbell Danesh' ex-wife, Natasha Henstridge, has paid tribute to the late singer on the third anniversary of his death. The former Pop Idol contestant passed away at the age of 41 in August 2022 after inhaling chloroethane - also known as ethyl chloride - at his Minnesota apartment. Three years on from the tragedy, the 50-year-old Canadian actress - who filed for divorce from the Colourblind hitmaker in 2013, after just over two years of marriage - has admitted she still misses him dearly. Alongside a series of pictures of Darius, including one of the couple posing in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, she penned on Instagram on August 11: "Love and light always. Miss you today…. Sending love to the Danesh's and everyone whose life he touched." According to his girlfriend, Darius had been "living with a broken neck" and an undiagnosed heart condition when he died. Lauren Cheek explained that an autopsy revealed that his heart was "twice the size" it should have been and that she believes he used the recreational anaesthetic to alleviate the pain. She told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: "Darius was living with this heart condition that he didn't know he had. So many things could have taken him, but this one thing did, and he died in his sleep. "His mum told me they only found out after they did the autopsy. His heart was twice the size it was supposed to be, which was fitting, because that is genuinely how he was — he had so much love. "The autopsy also found he was living with a broken neck, but he refused to get help or complain about it. I think he used (chloroethane) because he was in so much pain and he didn't want to take pills, not even aspirin. That's what killed him — the substance mixed with his heart and he couldn't take it." Lauren went on to add that Darius - who shot to fame when he gave a memorable rendition of Britney Spears' hit '...Baby One More Time' on the ITV talent show Popstars before releasing a string of hit singles and eventually going on to star in the West End - had sustained his injuries whilst racing with Hollywood actor Gerard Butler and always "refused" when she urged him to see a doctor. She added: "He was with Gerry (Butler) in Monaco for the Grand Prix and they slammed into a wall during a race with the Prince of Monaco. I don't think it ever fully healed and then he rebroke it because he got hit by a car in London a year or two before he died when he was riding a bike. "And then he got into a car accident with his dad in Scotland. D was in the passenger seat, his dad was driving and someone drove into them. "He was always in pain and I would beg him to see the doctor, but he refused. He was trying to find a natural remedy.'

Charlie Brooker teases sequel to 'horrible' Black Mirror episode
Charlie Brooker would consider a sequel to Black Mirror's "f****** horrible" season opener. The 54-year-old writer and showrunner launched the most recent series of his dark anthology show with Common People, following a couple who take on a lifesaving technology only for the subscription model to steadily price them out of vital features. He told The Hollywood Reporter: "I would never want to say no. I love a fake advert in something, and that was the closest I've gotten to actually having a dystopian, blackly comedic advert in the middle of Black Mirror. 'There's a lot more you could do with that technology, so I certainly wouldn't rule it out." In the episode, Mike (Chris O'Dowd) and Amanda (Rashida Jones) sign up to the Riverdale app after she's diagnosed with a brain tumour. However, corporate greed soon takes centre stage as the couple struggle to pay for life saving features, as they find themselves arguing with Rivermind worker Gaynor. Charlie added: "Gaynor is still around — presumably still working for Rivermind — and we do love an Easter egg in the show.' The episode was a dark one, but the creator admitted there were some plot points they cut out due to either time restrictions or being too close to concepts explored in past episodes. He said: "We ended up cutting out even more horrible things, and it's still pretty f****** horrible.' Other ideas included all food tasting "of boiled potatoes unless you pay an extra $70". The original concept for the script was "a lighthearted episode about somebody who advertises things all the time", but the premise took a more sinister turn. He revealed: "There was originally a whole privacy layer in there that I stripped because it was a little too similar to a bit in Joan Is Awful, which was an episode last season that Ally Pankiw also directed. "Originally, there was a line [in the script] where they're asking about how the commercials are suited to the situation they're in, and they're realising that it's monitoring everything they're saying and doing. "It's watching her in the classroom, watching them in bed together. They've got no privacy anymore, and you can opt out of that, but that costs them $2,000 a month, or whatever it was."
