ACE (13A: Highest card in Teen Patti) Teen Patti is a gambling card game that originated in India. It is played with a standard 52-card deck without jokers. Hands in Teen Patti consist of three cards, and the highest hand is three ACEs. Although Teen Patti is new to me, the answer here is fairly inferable, as an ACE is the highest card in many games.
LEVI (20A: Composer/lyricist Celerio) LEVI Celero (1910-2002) composed over 4,000 songs during his lifetime. He was recognized as a National Artist of the Philippines in 1997. The Film Academy of the Philippines honored LEVI Celero with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 1989, in recognition of the songs he composed for movies. Fun fact: LEVI Celerio was also known for using a leaf as a musical instrument. Guinness Book of World Records recognized him as the "only leaf player in the world."

BRITPOP (33A: Genre for Oasis) The music genre known as BRITPOP arose in the early 1990s in the United Kingdom (where else?). It is characterized by bright, catchy themes that are in contrast to the grunge music also popular at that time. The band Oasis, founded in Manchester in 1991, is considered one of the most successful BRITPOP groups of all time.
EMAIL (36A: "This meeting could've been an ___") The other day I read about a company inviting employees to suggest names for conference rooms in a new building. One suggestion was to name a conference room "this meeting could've been an EMAIL." That idea amuses me probably more than it should.
LABOR (38A: Childbirth process) and EPIDURAL (55A: Childbirth anesthetic) A pair of childbirth clues today. (Twin childbirth clues?) An EPIDURAL is a method of anesthesia in which medication is injected into the EPIDURAL space around the spinal cord. This results in a localized loss of sensation. EPIDURALs can be used for pain relief during LABOR.

SHED (70A: Leave hair all over the couch, say) This clue made me laugh! The top of the couch (actually a loveseat) is a favorite spot for my cat, Willow, to lay. That spot has to be "defuzzed" on a regular basis. How can one cat SHED so much fur?!
EAGLE (1D: "Crowned" bird of prey) The crowned EAGLE is a species of EAGLE that lives in sub-Saharan Africa. The quotation marks around the word crowned in the clue indicate that this word is paired with the answer to form the name of a bird of prey.
EAR (6D: Serving of corn) and CHEESIEST (22D: Most corny) Let's hear it for corn clues.
SLIMED (8D: Covered in green goop at the Kids' Choice Awards) "You've been SLIMED!" SLIME has been an integral part of the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards show since 2002. Nickelodeon's iconic green SLIME made its first appearance in 1979 on the Canadian sketch comedy show, You Can't Do That on Television. If you'd like to learn more, take a minute and a half to watch, "A Brief History of Nickelodeon SLIME."
AHA (10D: "I've got it!") AHA! It's one of my favorite exclamations.
NATO (18D: ___ phonetic alphabet) The NATO Phonetic Alphabet is a widely used radiotelephone spelling alphabet. It's been a few months since I've had an opportunity to review the NATO phonetic alphabet, which I like to do each time it's mentioned in the puzzle. Today I decided to review by spelling my last name using the NATO phonetic: Hotel - Oscar - Echo - Lima - Sierra - Charlie - Hotel - Echo - Romeo.
GEO (24D: Prefix with "cache" or "Guessr") A GEOcache is a container of items (usually a logbook, pencil, and a variety of small, inexpensive objects) which is hidden at a specific location for searchers to find using GPS coordinates. GEOcaching is a lot of fun, and a good way to explore an area. GEOGuessr is a web-based game in which players guess locations based on Google Street View imagery. The game was created by Anton Wallén in 2013.

NEO (62D: "The Matrix" hero) There are four movies in The Matrix franchise, the first of which (The Matrix) was released in 1999, and the latest of which (The Matrix Resurrections) came out in 2021. The series deals with the technological fall of humanity, and the creation of artificial intelligence and self-aware machines. Although I haven't seen the movies, I've learned from crosswords that in these movies, Keanu Reeves portrays computer programmer Thomas Anderson, who operates as a hacker using the name NEO.
GRAVY TRAIN (16A: Source of easy money)
GAME THEORY (24A: Field of math that examines players' strategies)
GET TOGETHER (47A: Meetup)
GOOD TIMING (61A: "You came in right when I hoped you would!")
G&T: In each theme answer, the first word begins with a G and the second word begins with a T. Our G&T phrases are GRAVY TRAIN, GAME THEORY, GET TOGETHER, and GOOD TIMING.
This is a fun initialism theme. G&T often stands for the classic cocktail, gin and tonic. I enjoy these types of themes because it's interesting to discover what else these initials could stand for. The appearance of GOOD TIMING in the grid as a theme answer made me realize that this is a phrase I use on a fairly regular basis. Thank you, Stella, for this excellent puzzle.

'Ghost Adventures' star Aaron Goodwin cries as ex-wife sentenced in plot to kill him
'Ghost Adventures' star Aaron Goodwin cries as ex-wife sentenced in plot to kill him Show Caption Hide Caption TikTok influencer Valeria Marquez shot while livestreaming in Mexico A man fatally shot a 23-year-old Mexican TikTok influencer, Valeria Marquez, while she was livestreaming. Victoria Goodwin, the ex-wife of "Ghost Adventures" star Aaron Goodwin, is heading to prison for helping orchestrate a murder-for-hire plot to kill him. Goodwin's lawyers confirmed to USA TODAY Thursday, June 5, that she had been sentenced to 36-90 months in prison following a guilty plea in April. At the sentencing hearing, cameras for CourtTV captured a clearly distraught Goodwin awaiting her sentencing, listening on as lawyers for her husband recounted the plot in which she is accused of hiring a hitman to kill him rather than ask for a divorce. "Firstly and most importantly, I would like to apologize to Aaron," Goodwin said, through a shaky voice, reading a statement during the hearing. "I'm so immensely sorry for the pain and anxiety I have caused you and the betrayal you undoubtedly and rightfully feel by my actions. "I'm sorry I broke us, and I'm consumed with regret every day," she continued, vowing to bow out of his life forever and adding she was "ashamed" and "disappointed" with herself. Goodwin's lawyers, arguing that she had never been in any previous legal trouble and had by November abandoned the plot to kill, urged for a shorter sentence. Aaron Goodwin then delivered a statement, speaking through tears about his "fear." "This has led me to fear for my life," he said of discovering that his wife had put a hit out on him. "I can't trust anything anymore. I cry every day, I feel so alone. She turned me into a person I never was." Goodwin was originally arrested in March on suspicion of two felony charges: solicitation to commit murder and conspiring to commit murder, according to county court records. According to the criminal complaint, Goodwin hired, commanded or otherwise solicited up to two people to "commit the murder of Aaron Goodwin." They say she conspired with a man via cell phone communications to have her husband "killed by a third party by providing the location of the victim and providing funds to pay for the murder." Investigators uncovered the alleged plot through Victoria Goodwin's text and Facebook message communications with an inmate in Florida, discovered on his phone when it was seized by correction officers in October. During an interview with detectives before her arrest, Goodwin revealed she had become aware of the Florida inmate "through a true crime documentary and began writing to him." "Victoria explained at the time of the text messages," with the inmate, "she and Aaron were going through problems in their marriage. She further described being lonely and began connecting" with the Florida inmate, the report states. When asked about "texts soliciting and conspiring to murder Aaron," police said "she denied wanting her husband to be killed" and denied remembering those specific messages. Who are Victoria and Aaron Goodwin? Aaron Goodwin is a camera operator and star of the Discovery+ paranormal and reality TV series "Ghost Adventures" led by paranormal investigator Zak Bagans. The hit series has been on air since 2008. Aaron and Victoria Goodwin were married in August 2022 and divorced in March. Contributing: Taijuan Moorman, KiMi Robinson

The Investment Ryan Reynolds Says He's 'More Proud Of Than Anything He's Done In His Life'
Actor Ryan Reynolds has accomplished the rare feat of being as famous for his prowess as an investor and businessman as he is for his work on the silver screen. One of his early forays into investing was Mint Mobile, which he famously pitched in television commercials before selling the company to T-Mobile US (NASDAQ: TMUS) for $1.35 billion. Although Fortune estimates he made $300 million on that transaction, it's not Reynolds' favorite investment. Reynolds is co-owner of English soccer club Wrexham, and he reflected on his time with the club during an episode of the "Men in Blazers" podcast. "If I were to look back and tell you what I'm most proud of, it would be from my family," Reynolds said. "Wrexham has informed more of my life than I could ever possibly calculate." Don't Miss: Maker of the $60,000 foldable home has 3 factory buildings, 600+ houses built, and big plans to solve housing — Invest where it hurts — and help millions heal:. That is incredibly high praise considering Reynolds is married to actress Blake Lively, with whom he shares four daughters. It's highly doubtful Reynolds will net a larger profit from his investment in Wrexham than he did from his 25% stake in Mint Mobile. Yet, Wrexham has captured his heart in a way that dollars and cents on a spreadsheet never could. It could have something to do with the passion that English soccer is famous for. That's because soccer clubs in England are more than just sports teams, something which is especially true for lower division teams like Wrexham. Even though many of the biggest teams in the top-level English Premier League are owned by billionaires like Arsenal's Stan Kroenke or Manchester City's Sheikh Mansour, there is an entire community of supporters behind every club. In many cases, this community of supporters stretches back several generations, and the clubs become central parts of life in the cities where they play. Smaller clubs don't play in gleaming $1 billion stadiums with luxury suites and five-star restaurants. Most clubs in the fourth division, which is where Wrexham was when Reynolds bought in, play in stadiums that barely hold 10,000 people. Despite that, game day is a community event that the entire town participates in. Trending: Maximize saving for your retirement and cut down on taxes: . Fans who don't get into the stadium fill Wrexham's pubs on game day and sing the club song. Win or lose, fans in cities like Wrexham love their club and view it as a public trust. Reynolds and co-owner Ryan McIlhenny's journey with the team has become a reality TV show in the U.S. Reynolds has been moved by the involvement and passion of the club's fan base. "You can hate me and Rob," Reynolds told "Men in Blazers." "But it's very hard to not root for that community and that place because, boy, when we first got there, there was a lot of 'why Wrexham?', and you don't hear any of that anymore." Reynolds' involvement has coincided with a period of unprecedented success in Wrexham history. English soccer does not have a draft where the worst teams can rebuild by getting first crack at the best players. Every year, the teams that finish in the bottom three slots in their respective division are relegated to a lower division, while the top three teams from that division are promoted to replace the relegated relegated to lower divisions is a financial disaster that has sent many teams into the English equivalent of a corporate bankruptcy. This system puts tremendous pressure on team ownership to sign the right players and hire the right manager. During Reynolds' tenure with the club, Wrexham has won promotion to a higher division for three consecutive years. They now sit in the Championship Division, just one step away from the Premier League, regarded as one of the world's best. The competition will be higher than anything they've faced since Reynolds bought the club. A promotion to the Premier League would be the crowning achievement for Reynolds. It would also be very lucrative. Accounting firm Deloitte estimates that promotion to England's top level can increase a club's value by several hundred million dollars. All Premier League clubs participate in revenue sharing from multibillion-dollar television rights and merchandising deals. With that said, it's clear that Reynolds is more interested in what promotion would mean for the Wrexham community than his bank account. He has embraced the community, and it has embraced him. It's the ultimate feel-good investment story. Read Next: Here's what Americans think you need to be considered wealthy. Image: Shutterstock UNLOCKED: 5 NEW TRADES EVERY WEEK. Inside Evelyn, Dallas's New Steakhouse With ‘Feminine Energy,' Old Hollywood Vibes, and Plenty of Selfies
Welcome to the Scene Report, a column in which Eater captures the vibe of a notable Texas restaurant at a specific moment in time. Before Evelyn debuted in late March, it was one of the most hyped restaurant openings of the year, especially among the young and social set. That's partly due to mounds of media coverage and glitzy social media posts that showcased attractive people in a visually appealing space, promising to bring diners back to Hollywood's golden age. In a city as steak-heavy as Dallas, there's plenty of room to color outside the usual red-meat-and-mahogany box, and the team behind Evelyn didn't want to create another stuffy steakhouse, ICRAVE design manager Lisa Johnson tells Eater Dallas. Instead, they wanted a restaurant that exuded 'striking feminine energy,' offering a vibey dining experience with good music and space to dance. So Dallas-based Reach Hospitality, the group behind the Mexican, Black Tap, and Pie Tap, hired ICRAVE, the firm responsible for big-name restaurants including Catch and STK, to rethink the classic steakhouse experience. In this case, that translated into a lot of soft upholstery, blush tones, and artwork featuring women — some portraits depicting faces, others snapshots of clothed bodies dancing, clinking glasses, and crossing their legs. The goal for the menu was to capture the essence of classic Hollywood steakhouses, with steaks, seafood, martinis, and wine. But how does Evelyn's substance stack up to its style? Eater Dallas paid the Design District restaurant a visit to find out. The Vibe Evelyn is more than just the name; it's an homage to a fictional Hollywood starlet, Johnson says. 'We developed the persona around Evelyn,' she explains. 'You're never fully exposed to her identity, but you get hints of her throughout the space,' which features three separate rooms and a choose-your-own-adventure feel. Enter through the Ruby Room, a red and gold bar area that welcomes diners with tables flanking an oval-shaped bar. The Piano Room, a more subdued dining area featuring an actual piano, welcomes diners with inviting rose-colored banquettes and soft music playing on the sound system. Photographs line the walls depicting a coquettish Evelyn, or parts of her — a leg in one shot, lips in another. Room Seven, the most high-energy space, features a dining area with a separate bar, a massive disco ball hanging overhead, and room for people to drink, mingle, and dance. From its multi-room setup to the music and design, Evelyn is built for fun and photos. When my wife and I visited at 8 p.m. for dinner on a Friday around six weeks after its opening, the bar buzzed with people, and nearly every table was full. Women noticeably outnumbered men, with several groups seemingly there to celebrate bachelorette parties or birthdays. Others seemed to be there to simply enjoy the ambiance as they sipped cocktails, dined on oysters and steak, and snapped photos. Some, however, looked lost. At one point, three men in polos wandered up to the bar, ordered beers, and exchanged confused glances, perhaps realizing this wasn't the scene they imagined. They slipped out after one drink. A return visit a couple of weeks later with some friends on a Saturday night found a similar crowd. The restaurant was full from end to end, and as the night drew on, more people made their way onto the dance floor, swaying their bodies to the loud but not conversation-killing combination of '70s and '80s beats. The Food Given the notably untraditional vibes, Evelyn feels more like a restaurant with a lot of steak than an actual steakhouse. We started with a half-dozen fresh and briny oysters paired with a trio of sauces: Champagne mignonette, cocktail sauce, and sinus-clearing horseradish. Next up were the wagyu cheesesteak bites. Evelyn's playful take on a Philly cheesesteak was topped with melty Provolone Mornay, caramelized onions, and black truffle shavings and served with a side of pickled peppers that brightened the rich flavors. Though the cheesesteak bites were a hit, the dish was so filling that splitting the two mini sandwiches and still ordering steaks afterwards might have been too ambitious. The BLT wedge salad was crisp and comforting — exactly what you want when ordering a salad that barely qualifies as a vegetable. For entrees, our waiter suggested the spinalis (rib-eye cap), a cut that rarely appears on Dallas menus. Cooked to our preferred medium rare, the steak was tender and juicy. We paired it with the prawn primavera, a pasta dotted with olives, tomatoes, capers, and artichokes. The menu didn't mention the buttery sauce, so it was richer than expected, but the linguine and prawns were cooked just right. Not everything was a winner. Despite my high threshold for salt, our side of asparagus was so coated in seasoning that we had to scrape it off to eat it. The Chocolate Decadence dessert, studded with crunchy chocolate pearls, was gorgeous when it hit the table, but once the server broke it open with a knife and drizzled chocolate sauce on top, it lost its visual appeal, looking less like a dessert and more like a mound of dirt. The flavor was chocolatey and decadent as described, but that was the only note it hit. The Drinks Martinis are a hallmark of the drinks menu, which includes a Vesper, an espresso martini, and a signature house martini. This cold, clean, and well-balanced sip features a combination of gin, vermouth, and a complementing dash of white balsamic vinegar. During my visit, it was presented on a tray with an empty glass, an ice bowl with a mini carafe nestled inside, and two garnishes — lemon peel and olives. In a show of unexpected hospitality, the bartender replaced my glass with fresh ice-cold stemware when I was halfway through with my drink, ensuring the last few sips were as frosty as the first. If you want to splurge, the Price of Fame is the most indulgent martini on the menu. Made with saffron-infused Nolet's Reserve gin, dry vermouth, black truffle bitters, and caviar-stuffed olives, this cocktail costs a cool $150, reasonable considering the pricey gin and accoutrements. It's still an exercise of excess, of course, but arguably more fun and interesting than paying $150 for a glass of wine or scotch. Diners can also expect riffs on original cocktails, including the margarita and Old Fashioned, plus around 20 wines by the glass, plenty more in bottles, and a few beers. The Verdict Evelyn's is by no means a cheap night out, but apart from obvious splurges like caviar and that extra-fancy martini, the costs are in line with other upscale restaurants and steakhouses in Dallas. While the restaurant's particular brand of energy might not be for everyone, it's an undeniably fun place to celebrate. If you enjoy glamorous crowds, high-end vibes, and you don't mind a few selfies around your steak, Evelyn belongs on your list. Sign up for our newsletter.
