Two people are in intensive care tonight after their car lost control and flipped in Perth's south-east.
The vehicle ended up entangled in a tree and a power pole, which plunged hundreds of homes into darkness for more than 12 hours.
The Toyota Land Cruiser was left a twisted mess and flipped on its side, after the driver allegedly lost control along Southern River Road in Gosnells just after midnight.
Locals heard the crash and called emergency services.
'[I] came out, called Triple Zero straight away, a couple of neighbours came out to see what was going on,' resident Manu Nebe told Nine News.
The vehicle mounted the median strip, taking out a power pole, which left more than 200 residents in the dark for much of the day.
Police say a 24-year-old man was behind the wheel and with him was a 25-year-old woman.
They say the woman was crying and screaming for help, with one neighbour staying beside her and keeping her calm until emergency services arrived.

Aussie cooking show host charged with sexually touching teen

The former host of the daytime television program Ready Steady Cook has spent a night behind bars after being accused of sexually touching a 16-year-old boy. NSW Police confirmed that Peter Everett was arrested on Saturday afternoon at a home on the NSW Central Coast following an investigation into the alleged incident. 'Following extensive inquiries, police arrested a 66-year-old man at a home in Toukley,' a spokesperson from NSW Police said. Everett was taken to Wyong Police Station, where he was charged with sexually touching another person without consent. He then spent Saturday night behind bars before appearing at Parramatta Court on Sunday. The former television star pleaded not guilty to the charge and won't appear in court again until September 3. Everett denied the allegation when he was approached outside court by Nine News. The Nightly has reached out to Everett for comment. Everett took over Ready Steady Cook hosting duties from chef Nick Stratford in 2006. He hosted the show until 2011. If you or someone you know needs help, contact 1800 RESPECT (1800 737 732).
