SEIL energy distributes 1000 bicycles to school-going children

Nellore, July 25 (UNI) In a significant step towards promoting education and enabling better access to schools for rural students, SEIL Energy India Limited, one of the largest independent power producers (IPP) in India, has donated 1,000 bicycles to school-going children in Addanki, in Bapatla District of Andhra Pradesh, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative on Friday.
This initiative, aligned with SEIL Energy's CSR key focus area on Education, aims to reduce school dropout rates, particularly among children from underprivileged backgrounds and girl students who often face mobility challenges in remote areas.
Energy Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Gottipati Ravi Kumar, formally handed over bicycles at Zilla Parishad High School (ZPHS), Makkenavaripalem. The Minister also handed over 452 cycles to the students of ZPHS, Medarametla.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar said, 'We are immensely grateful to SEIL Energy for their generous contribution of 1,000 bicycles. This initiative is a critical enabler in the Government of Andhra Pradesh's larger vision to distribute 10,000 bicycles to underprivileged children, ensuring that no child is denied access to education due to lack of transportation.'
Mr. Janmejaya Mahapatra, CEO, SEIL Energy India Limited, said, 'At SEIL Energy, we believe that education is the most powerful tool for community transformation. Through this initiative, we are not just donating bicycles ---we are helping unlock the future potential of 1,000 children. We are proud to partner with the Government of Andhra Pradesh in advancing this noble and meaningful cause.'
All 1,000 beneficiaries are underprivileged school students from rural areas, and many of them are first-generation learners. This project is part of SEIL Energy's broader CSR commitment across four key pillars: Education, Health, Decarbonisation and Skill & Entrepreneurship Development. Over the past decade, SEIL Energy's CSR efforts have positively impacted about one million lives through sustainable, inclusive, and community-driven initiatives.

MRF logs lower net on higher revenue in Q1

Chennai, Aug 12 (UNI) Automotive tyre major MRF Ltd on Tuesday said it closed the quarter ended 30th June 2025 with a higher revenue and lower net. The company said during the first quarter of FY26 it has logged a standalone operational revenue of Rs.7,560.28 crore (Q1FY25 Rs.7,077.84 crore) and a net profit of Rs.484.23 crore (Rs.562.55 crore). On a consolidated basis, for the period under review, the company's total income stood at Rs 7,802 crore (Rs. 7,280 crore). The consolidated net profit for the quarter ended 30th June, 2025 is Rs. 500 crore (Rs.571 crore). Despite the increase in total income, profits for the quarter ended 30th June, 2025, declined due to an increase in input costs, MRF said in a statement. According to the company, the first quarter of the financial year normally sees an uptick in demand for vehicles, and therefore sales to vehicle makers improve along with improvement in replacement demand. But April 2025 started with a tariff issue, which was followed by a war in May and then early monsoons. This led to subdued market sentiments. New vehicle sales across categories were negative or flat except for the farm segment, which was unaffected by any of the above disruptions. UNI VJ ARN

Trump boasts success of tariffs on India, say they have greatly hurt Russia

Washington, Aug 12 (UNI) Boasting about the success of his reciprocal tariff policies, US President Donald Trump said his massive sanctions on India over purchasing Russian oil have 'dealt a big blow' to Moscow, reports RT. Addressing a briefing in the White House on Monday, Trump said Russia's economy has been heavily impacted by the global pressure stemming from the imposition of US tariffs on multiple countries, many of whom are top buyers of Russian energy and weapons. 'It doesn't help when the president of the United States tells their largest or second-largest oil buyer that we're putting a 50% tariff on you if you buy oil from Russia. That was a big blow,' Trump stated, in a veiled reference to India. 'No one would have been so tough and I haven't stopped there,' he added. Last week, the US President added an additional 25% tariffs to Indian goods, bringing his sanctions to over 50%, as a punitive measure for New Delhi's purchase of Russian oil. Trump added that Russia had 'tremendous potential to do well,' but claimed that its economy 'is not doing well right now because it's been very well disturbed by this.' India has refused to succumb to the American pressure, with the Foreign Ministry calling the US measures "unfair" and "unjustified", and has vowed to protect its national interests. A former Pentagon official decried the US move and said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would go down in history for standing up for his country's rights, and that the US would learn that it can't 'kick India around.'
