Two held for hurling petrol bomb in Ranipet
Two persons were arrested for hurling a petrol bomb at the house of an agent of Vellore-based LNS International Financial Services at Sayanapuram village near Nemili town in Ranipet on Thursday. Police said the arrested persons were identified as H. Dinesh (34) and R. Mohan (20). They were relatives of the victim S. Arun (43), an agent of the financial firm. All of them are native to the village. Initial inquiry revealed that the victim Arun allegedly convinced the duo to invest their money in the private financial firm to avail high interest on their deposits. Police said that, accordingly, the duo deposited around Rs 15 lakh in the firm. In February this year, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) arrested 10 persons in connection with a scam involving LNS International Financial Services, where the company cheated over 5046 depositors and swindled ₹800 crore. The EOW registered a case against the dysfunctional financial firm, its sister concerns, and the directors and administrators of the firms, based on the depositors' complaints. Since then, the duo had regularly visited the victim's house and demanded return of their deposit. When Arun gave excuses for the same, the duo hurled the petrol bomb. No damage was reported. Police nabbed the suspects from their hideouts in Chennai. A case was registered by Nemili police and they were lodged in Central Prison in Vellore. A probe is underway.

Autopsy Rules Out Trauma Or Foul Play In Death Of French Streamer Who Died On Air
Last Updated: The initial autopsy results show 'no internal or external traumatic injuries' or burns on the body, with only minor bruises and healed lesions observed A post-mortem examination has ruled out trauma or third-party involvement in the death of French streamer Raphael Graven, who passed away during a live broadcast earlier this week. Graven, 46, known online as 'Jean Pormanove" or simply 'JP", died on Monday in the village of Contes near Nice. He was found unresponsive at home shortly after ending a livestream on the platform Kick. According to Nice prosecutor Damien Martinelli, the initial autopsy results show 'no internal or external traumatic injuries" or burns on the body, with only minor bruises and healed lesions observed. 'The probable causes of death appear to be medical and/or toxicological," he said, adding that more tests have been ordered. Footage from the livestream showed Graven lying under a sheet while another man threw a plastic bottle at him. Despite the disturbing nature of the scene, prosecutors confirmed there were no signs of violence or assault. 'The medical experts consider that Mr Graven's death was not traumatic in origin and was not related to the intervention of a third party," Martinelli said. Authorities said Graven had a history of heart problems and was receiving treatment for a thyroid condition, which could have played a role in his sudden death. Kick has suspended all co-streamers involved in the broadcast pending the results of the investigation. The company also announced a full review of its French content policies. Stray dogs row: SC to deliver order on Aug 22
Agency: PTI Last Updated: New Delhi, Aug 21 (PTI) The Supreme Court is set to pronounce on August 22 the order on a plea to stay its August 11 direction to permanently relocate stray dogs from streets to dog shelters in Delhi-NCR. A three-judge special bench comprising Justices Vikram Nath, Sandeep Mehta and N V Anjaria had on August 14 reserved its order in the matter. A two-judge bench of the apex court had on August 11 passed a slew of directions, including ordering the authorities in Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) to start picking up stray dogs from all localities 'at the earliest" and relocate the canines to dog shelters. The bench passed the order in a suo motu case initiated on July 28 over a media report on stray dog bites leading to rabies, particularly among children, in the national capital. Widespread protests were reported across the country following the apex court's August 11 order. Later, the matter came up for hearing on August 14 before a three-judge special bench which said the 'whole problem" of stray dogs in Delhi-NCR was a result of the 'inaction" of local authorities which did 'nothing" in implementing the Animal Birth Control Rules on sterilisation and immunisation of canines. The special bench, which was constituted to hear the suo motu case and some other pleas concerning stray dogs, had reserved its verdict on the interim prayer for a stay on certain directions issued on August 11. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Delhi government, had referred to data and said in 2024, India reported around 37.15 lakh dog bites cases — nearly 10,000 per day. Mehta had also referred to a media report and said the World Health Organisation, using government and other authentic sources, reported 305 dog-bite related deaths last year. The lawyers appearing for several organisations had urged the special bench to stay some of the directions passed by the two-judge bench. On August 11, a bench of Justices J B Pardiwala and R Mahadevan had directed the authorities in Delhi-NCR to start relocating all stray dogs from streets to shelters and asked the authorities to initially start by creating a shelter to house 5,000 dogs. It had warned of strictest action against those who obstructed the exercise and directed immediate creation of dog shelters or pounds and report about it within eight weeks.
