Kansas City Chiefs look to future with 2025 NFL Draft class following Super Bowl LIX defeat

Following a disappointing defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX, the Kansas City Chiefs looked to the 2025 NFL Draft to seal apparent shortcomings in their roster. With players such as Patrick Mahomes remaining in their prime years, the Chiefs required augmentation in the trenches and at wide receiver—two aspects where they were decidedly outgunned in the championship game.
Kansas City Chiefs value trenches and potential in key 2025 NFL Draft
The Kansas City Chiefs did not hesitate to go after the offensive line with their first pick, drafting Josh Simmons, a skilled offensive tackle coming off a serious knee injury. Although Simmons might not be available until midseason, the Chiefs are unconcerned. Their patience is reminiscent of how they developed Patrick Mahomes before his breakout. Jaylon Moore having been signed in free agency, the team can take their time bringing Simmons along.
If he gets back to himself, Kansas City might have discovered its future blindside protector.
In one of the surprises of the draft weekend, Kansas City selected Omarr Norman-Lott in the second round. The Tennessee defensive tackle is undersized for the role but has great burst and agility. Rounds three and four featured Kansas City continuing to strengthen its defense. Ashton Gillotte, an edge rusher with an unrelenting motor, becomes part of a rotation that succeeds on pressure.

While his collegiate production fell off, his playing style suits the Chiefs' culture.
At the secondary level, Nohl Williams provides depth at cornerback with good instincts and zone coverage skills—something Spagnuolo is looking for in his DBs.
The offense was not overlooked. In the fourth round, Jalen Royals, a quick wide receiver with sure hands, was brought into a deep but unsettled unit. Although the Chiefs still don't have a definitive No.
1 wide receiver, the Royals bring competition and potential to the position.

The Kansas City Chiefs' jersey number no one dares to wear — and the heartbreaking reason why
The Kansas City Chiefs were defeated in Super Bowl LIX, but their reaction to the loss in the 2025 NFL Draft was restrained, smart, and progressive. With selections that solve fundamental problems while building for the future, Kansas City set itself up for another postseason surge. If players like Josh Simmons and Omarr Norman-Lott develop as expected, this draft class has the potential to be the next rung on the Chiefs' championship ladder.

Rishabh Pant Fury In England, Damages Rooftop With Massive Sixes Ahead Of Test Series
If India are to do well in the upcoming Test series against England, vice-captain Rishabh Pant will have a big role to play in it. His recent form has not been great but Pant, as a wicket-keeper and as a middle-order batter, will be closely watched. If a report is believed to be true, Pant has been preparing for the upcoming series, that starts on June 20, in his same fiery avatar that he is known for. A video report by RevSportz said that Pant's sixes have been landing on the roofs of a housing society in Kent. In fact, one particular part of the roof got damaged due to the severity of Pant's sixes. Pant has expressed his excitement for the upcoming five-Test series against England, sharing a picture of himself donning a Test jersey on social media. Pant took to X and posted his picture in Test whites with the caption, "Reporting for national duty." Pant, who made his Test debut in England in 2018, has played 12 games against England and scored 781 runs with a highest score of 146 which came in 2022 in Birmingham. Off the 12 games, he played nine on English soil, scoring 556 runs at an average of 32.70. Pant, however, had struggled the last time India played Tests – in Australia during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In Australia, he played all five Tests and scored 255 runs at an average of 28.33, including just one half-century. Team India touched down in the UK on June 7 and had wasted no time as they dived straight into intense training sessions, kickstarting their preparations for the five-Test showdown that marks the beginning of the 2025–27 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle for both teams. This series also signals the start of a new era for Indian cricket, following the Test retirements of stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Led by Shubman Gill, India will face England in the first Test of the five-match series at the Headingley Cricket Ground from June 20. The second Test will be played at Edgbaston from July 2 while the third Test will be held at the iconic Lord's beginning on July 10. Both India and England will later travel to Manchester for the fourth Test to be played at Old Trafford from July 23, before concluding the Test series at the Kennington Oval in London starting on July 31. India are aiming to win a Test series in England for the first time since 2007.

Post Malone, a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, gets Kansas City Chiefs inked because Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes beat him in a beer pong game
(Image via Getty: Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes) On June 12, Marca reported when Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes won their first Super Bowl title, they celebrated it with friends at a Post Malone concert. Malone turned a simple beer bong game into a battle of bets. He said if the blockbuster duo(Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes) beat him, he'd get a Kansas City Chiefs tattoo. And they did beat Malone, so he got the Kansas City Chiefs tattooed! Despite being a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. Now, how do we know of this story? It was the 18-time Grammy Award-nominated rapper himself who shared the story with his favorite tattoo artists while shooting for a T-Mobile advertisement. Let's hear it from the horse's mouth, shall we? Post Malone says Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce cheated and won the beer bong game but Mahomes denies it by saying they won fair and square The 11-time Billboard Music Award winner shared that the Kansas City Chiefs TE and QB cheated and won! In the exact words of Malone, 'Season's greetings. I am here with Ganji and Mr. Kyle, and we're going to get tattooed. The Kansas City Chiefs tattoo is always a good story. I told Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes that if they beat me in a game of beer pong, I would get a tattoo of their signatures and the Kansas City Chiefs logo. And they cheated, so I lost. So, that's probably my funniest story.' As a retort, the three-time Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes shared a screenshot of Post Malone's Instagram reel on his IG story and captioned it slyly: To be clear, we won fair and square @postmalone😂#TmobilePartner Fortnight singer Post Malone wrote a song on three-time Super Bowl Champion Patrick Mahomes and referees and titled it 'I Had Some Help' On June 12, Maxim Mover of the Holler reported during the Super Bowl LIX Tailgate Party performance in February, Post Malone said, 'I wrote this song about the Chiefs and the referees.' The song Malone's referring to is - 'I Had Some Help'. At the time, an ex-Boston radio show host, Rich Shertenlieb, had questioned QB Patrick Mahomes, 'For your whole career, you have had so many great people help you win. Who is your favorite Ref?' Mahomes answered then, 'That's hilarious. All the refs are great, man. They do the best they can, and we go out there and play the game the right way.' However, Shertenlieb could not sit with that answer, so he pinched further, 'Is there one that you give a Christmas card to every year, possibly?' After a moment of pause, Mahomes replied, 'Not that I can remember. I'll talk to some of my teammates to figure out.' (Image via Getty: Post Malone) Now, let's get the lyrics of 'I Had Some Help' and see if we can connect the dots! 'I had some help It ain't like I can make this kinda mess all by myself They say, 'Teamwork makes the dream work,' hell, I had some help .' Trent Alexander-Arnold officially unveiled as Real Madrid player at Santiago Bernabeu: ‘It's a dream come true'
English full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold was on Thursday officially unveiled as a Real Madrid player at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. Alexander-Arnold will be wearing the No.12, with Spanish football regulations prohibiting the use of his former Liverpool number, 66. He will display his first name, 'Trent', on his shirt, saying it is easier to understand for Spanish speakers. 'Thank you both to President Florentino Perez and to Real Madrid for this opportunity. Signing for a club like Real Madrid doesn't happen every day. It's a dream come true,' he said. 'I'm very happy and proud to be here. I'm really looking forward to showing my game to the Madrid fans. But I'm aware that playing for Real Madrid is a big responsibility. I'm ready to give everything for the team and the fans. I can't wait to show my game, win many titles, become a champion, grow, and enjoy every moment alongside the best players in the world.' Alexander-Arnold will be working with newly appointed manager Xabi Alonso, who famously won the Champions League playing for Liverpool in his illustrious playing career. 'To be able to work with him now is a dream come true for me,' Alexander-Arnold said of Alonso during a press conference. 'Our ambition is to go and win that (Club World Cup) trophy. I am looking to have a great start.' 👍 @TrentAA 👍 — Real Madrid C.F. 🇬🇧🇺🇸 (@realmadriden) June 12, 2025 🗣️🇪🇸 Señor Alexander-Arnold#WelcomeTrent — Real Madrid C.F. 🇬🇧🇺🇸 (@realmadriden) June 12, 2025 The 26-year-old came through the ranks at Liverpool and played for two decades with the club. He won two Premier League titles and a Champions League with the Premier League giants. However, Alexander-Arnold's departure soured his relationship with fans with somewhat, with his actions during the prolong transfer saga and his admiration for Madrid – a club that beat Liverpool in the Champions League finals of 2018 and 2022, being the frequently cited flashpoints. Alexander-Arnold scored 23 goals and made 92 assists for Liverpool in his senior career. 'Liverpool gave me the opportunity to achieve all my dreams. It was the right moment for me, being there 20 years, achieving everything I wanted to,' he said.
