Beck may be touring with a symphony this year, but that won't stop him from joining the lineup for the 17th edition of the Outside Lands festival, during which he'll be backed by an orchestra on the event's Aug. 8 opening day in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park.
Beck launched the orchestral concept in 2024 with shows at such storied venues as New York's Carnegie Hall and Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl. Following three gigs in Japan this month, he'll return to the symphonic motif during an 11-date summer North American tour, beginning July 15 in New Haven, Ct.

As previously reported, Outside Lands will be led by Tyler, the Creator, Hozier and Doja Cat. Also set to perform are John Summit, Anderson .Paak & the Free Nationals, Gracie Abrams, Doechii, Glass Animals, Jamie xx, Gesaffelstein, Bleachers, Ludacris, FINNEAS, Floating Points and Jorja Smith.
Meanwhile, previously announced performer Vampire Weekend will now play both opening and closing sets at their stage on Aug. 9. Tickets go on sale tomorrow (May 7).
Per usual, Outside Lands will offer a host of other amenities, including an on-site venue for fans to exchange wedding vows, the cannabis-friendly Grass Lands, the open-air SOMA dance stage and the Golden Gate Club, where chefs such as Tyler Florence and Melissa King will be cooking up a storm.

Spotify and Netflix are hiking prices again, with Australians now forking out hundreds of dollars more for once budget-friendly streaming services. Another round of price rises has been enough for under-pressure subscribers to walk away from the services. Spotify announced its latest round of price hikes to customers via email this week, noting the increase was needed so it could 'continue to innovate on our product offerings and features and bring users the best experience'. Spotify Premium subscriptions will increase from $13.99 to $15.99 a month for individual plans and $23.99 to $27.99 a month for family plans from September. As Yahoo's Tom Flanagan wrote today, the latest Spotify hike has him asking if it's time to pull the plug on one of his many subscriptions. 'With any subscription – especially gym – don't think monthly, think annually. That $25 per week you barely think about is actually $1,300 a year,' Blackburn told Yahoo Finance. 'Putting that same amount into an investment or savings account could mean thousands by the time you retire.' Of course, you don't have to completely ditch streaming services, and there are ways to be savvy about it. 'Don't forget you can switch streaming subscriptions off when you're not using them,' Blackburn said. 'You know you are putting money back in your pocket when you turn one off and you might be surprised how little you miss it.' Outside Lands' biggest performer just canceled three festival appearances
Fans who caught Doechii 's electrifying Outside Lands performance in San Francisco earlier this month lucked out, because the rapper will not be hitting the stage again any time soon. The Grammy-winning singer abruptly canceled three European appearances on Monday, Aug. 18. She was scheduled to perform at France's Rock en Seine on Thursday, Aug. 21; All Points East in London on Saturday, Aug. 23; and Bristol's Forwards Festival on Sunday, Aug. 24. While each festival issued its own statement on social media, none of them provided a reason for the Florida native's absence. The 'Anxiety' hitmaker herself has not yet made any comments about the cancellations. Doechii's only other appearance since wowing festivalgoers at Outside Lands was at Pukkelpop in Belgium on Sunday, Aug. 17. Doechii's School of Hip-Hop spectacle at Golden Gate Park show drew tens of thousands of fans — a noticeably larger crowd than Doja Cat, whose headlining set followed on the first day of the festival. The highly-choreographed production featured songs from her 2024 EP 'Alligator Bites Never Heal' in addition to a handful of singles such as 'Alter Ego.' While many of her European fans won't get to see her live this summer, the Bay Area will have one more opportunity to witness the hip-hop artist in action this fall. She is scheduled to bring her Live From the Swamp Tour to San Francisco's Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on Nov. 7. All 12 scheduled shows on her tour are sold out.
