2025 Philly Pride March and Festival takes over city streets: "I see nothing but love"
"I see nothing but love, it's crazy out here, but we're all having a great time," Daron Summiel said.
"It feels like equality, it feels like it's what life should be," Dennis Cannady said.
The day started with the Pride March up Walnut Street as participants carried a 600-foot rainbow flag.
"It's really emotional to see everyone come together because sometimes we feel so divided," Angelique Kopacz said.
The streets around 11th and Locust then swelled for the Pride Festival featuring food, music, merchandise and more.
David Weisburg is the chief development officer for the Mazzoni Center, a nonprofit serving the LGBTQ+ community. He said showing up now is more important than ever before.
"After so much progress that's been made over so long, it's scary to think that there are rights that are being threatened," Weisberg said.
Gabrielle Caplan-Mayer came to support her son.
"I think, like many parents of trans kids, we want them just to have the acceptance and dignity of any young person, of any human being," she said.
This year's Pride fest is even bigger than ever, expanding all the way down to Walnut Street, and with picture-perfect skies, organizers are expecting this to be a record turnout.
"I think we have over 200 vendors, over 45 food trucks, 6 or 7, 8 stages, I don't even know anymore, there's so many things going on," Philly Pride 365 producer Jeremy Williams said.
For Williams, these crowds prove pride is here to stay in a very big way.
"Everybody just wants us to be proud. We're all here together to be proud, and the community is growing, it's not shrinking," Williams said.

Records show officials knew about tree decay before branch fell and killed boy in Calabasas
Crews at King Gillette Ranch raised concerns about a decaying tree a week before one of its branches snapped and killed an 8-year-old boy, according to documents obtained by CBS News Los Angeles. The text and emails from the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority, which operates King Gillette Ranch, showed that staff requested the removal of "a branch that snapped and was resting on a lower branch" on July 2. A day later, July 3, an employee wrote an email that read in part, "don't know if this limb cracking has anything to do with the health of the tree." On the same day, the division chief wrote: "Wow. That was a massive branch. Thank god that no one was seriously hurt or killed. Thank you so much for taking care of this. I would not have been able to sleep at night knowing that branch was just waiting to fall." Text messages from the people who appear to have hauled the initial limb away expressed their concerns about the health of the tree, writing, "it is somewhat concerning seeing all the decay at the trunk." They also suggest staff thin the canopy to mitigate risk. Six days later, on July 9, another branch fell onto picnic tables and hurt several people and killed the 8-year-old boy, who was attending a summer camp at the ranch. CBS News Los Angeles compared images of the damaged tree from July 2 and the tree at the heart of the deadly incident. The two trees appear to be the same based on their limb structure and decay patterns on the trunk. "The first step you normally take in such a circumstance, if you have a tree and you have concerns about it, you block off the area and you move what are called targets," said master arborist Steve Marshall, who was not involved in the inspection or removal of the tree. Marshall added that targets include swing sets, benches and other items that could draw people to the area. "If you have access to the branch that has fallen, you are going to examine where it split off the tree to see if you can get some understanding of what occurred," Marshall said. He added that fatalities involving trees are incredibly rare, but make the job of a risk assessment critical. Staff have posted warnings at the King Gillette Ranch, alerting people to falling tree limbs. It's unclear how long those signs have been posted. The Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority said they have commissioned an external investigation into the death and the events leading up to the tree falling. The director also reiterated their apology to those impacted. MRCA did not respond to questions about the tree's health prior to the accident.

TikTok sensation Talibelico unites Punjabi, Mexican roots through banda music
An exploding new talent is turning heads in Modesto for both his voice and his look. A 26-year-old TikTok sensation calls himself Talibelico — a combined term for magical impact, "talisman," and a style of movement in dance, "belico." His style and look have created a connection between the Punjabi and Mexican communities. His father is Indian and his mother is from Mexico. I sat down with Talibelico to ask what motivates his music. "It makes me happy. The banda makes me happy and I love what I'm doing, singing corridos and music," he said. Banda is the style of music he plays. Those who play with him say they were surprised when they met the man behind the voice. Juan Gallardo, who plays guitar, told CBS13 about the first time he heard Talibelico. "I seen him on TikTok a while back, back in 2023, and the first video I seen, I was like, 'He speaks Spanish,' " Gallardo said. Gallardo went on to say, "It's music that surely makes you want to move your feet, makes you want to dance, makes you want to get out of your comfort zone and just go at it." But it's not all fun lyrics for Talibelico. He has taken on more serious topics like the recent immigration raids, making several videos to try and calm the fears in the modesto community and elsewhere. In fact, he's working on a song about immigration concerns. But for now, the message takes a backseat to the music. Talibelico will be performing live this Sunday at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds.
